I was not refering to taxing corporations as much as taxing wealthy individuals (income > $200,000). And anyways, higher taxes won't necessarily stall production since corporations oftentimes use higher tax rates to their advantage by taking on debt. That is because they get debt interest tax shields that can sometimes produce positive cash flows. Sure, high leverage is not always the safest policy... but in times like these when our credit markets are starting to stagger, it might be a good idea to stimulate them a little bit. But it is hard to say what will happen, since markets never really function perfectly do they? And so much depends upon perception...

And if people want to argue over who gets what slice of whomever's pie, go right ahead. If you make over $250,000 and don't want to pay extra taxes, and would like to get some of that "redistributed wealth" , quit your current line of work and pick up a job digging ditches for ten dollars an hour. I'm sure you'd like that a lot better. A wise man once said "Somebody always has to take out the garbage." While this statement is true, it doesn't mean that those people need to be kicked in the teeth while doing it.
I am not a black, or a white, or a christian, or an Islamic, I am an American. We are all Americans. I have always been proud to be an American. There have been some points in my life that I have been disappointed in things about America. Maybe, I would have gone so far as to say that I've been disappointed in the America of the moment. But so many things that Obama said tonight really struck home with me. I do think America is a place where most things are possible. I do believe America is a place of change and hope and wonderful opportunities. I believe.

I'm filled with joy, wonder, and some sense of completion. Not completion that we are done, because I agree with the President-Elect, we have only entered into the beginning. But- a sense of completion that I have seen with my very eyes, a momentous and wonderful change. I am full tonight. I hope that I can keep this feeling for months and years to come. I want to be an even better American for America. And this means that I will become a better person. And I believe fully and wholeheartedly that our President-Elect wants the very same thing for himself and for all of us.

My socialist health care system? I wouldn't trade my health care system for a system that bankrupts people who need care for anything in the world. When I get sick and need to get better, I like the only thing I have to worry about is getting better and not paying thousands of dollars in health insurance. Oh my health insurance company covers 90 percent of me yet my bill is over 300,000 dollars. Where does the avg family come up with 30 thousand dollars to pay for health insurance and why are so many families in America going bankrupt to their hospital bills? Well this should be interesting. One thing to note. This current administration lost billions of dollars, in wars, and in this bailout. The American people were basically held at gun point, and no one went to jail, no leaders were drug out into the streets and beaten, nothing. There have been two, without a doubt, good presidents in this country: Lincoln and JFK. Both realized that a system where the government borrows currency from a private entity, that bears interest, locks its citizens into a permanent debt they can never overcome, otherwise known as slavery. It cost the FED 7 dollars, in materials, to print a 100 dollar bill, which they then turn around and loan, on interest, to the American public. A debt and interest that can only be repaid by borrowing more money from the FED, since they control the money supply. Think about that.

This election said so much about how people truly feel about society and their fellow human beings. I feel sorry for all those that are unable to enjoy this moment. The crowds themselves paint a telling picture.

The sea of people cheering Obama were people of all races and walks of life, people coming together for a shared hope of a better tomorrow, a better world, and a trouncing of racial barriers that have divided and damaged your beloved nation and this world for centuries. People around the world are celebrating this great moment in history and that would not have been true if McCain had won, certainly not to any comparable level.

There was NO racial diversity in those crowds of elitists who exhibited no joy in this historic moment, who sat on the sidelines pouting while the rest of the country joined together hand in hand and heart in heart in celebration of hope and human triumph. You can put the images of the crowds side by side and the pictures are worth THOUSANDS of words.

McCain and his supporters were willing to oppose a historic moment of immense importance, continue 8 years of dysfunctional and destructive politics that have caused so much suffering in a country that has reached it’s breaking point, and climb to a position of power on the shoulders of hateful, uneducated ignorant bigots, who make up a significant portion of his voters. If he cared about his country as he says he does and was happy for this historic moment as he said he was he would not have been standing where he was for the last 18 months. Pris there's no point in trying to convince Americans that our health care systems are far superior to theirs. In Canada my 80 year old grandfather had a 12 hour emergency heart surgery that took 3 surgeons who all gave him a less then 20 percent chance of survival. Personally, I don't think either Obama (too inexperienced) or McCain (too rigid & inflexible) would make a good President, so I won't comment on that, but 2 things caught my attention:

1) Howard Stern did a segment where people who supported Obama were asked why and Stern's people gave McCain's policies as Obama's and the Obama supporters agreed with those policies.

2)95% of Black voters supported Obama. Considering that Republicans have always had a fair percentage of the Black voters (although less than the Democrats), the overwhelming percentage for Obama shows that Obama's race was more important than his politics, which is not a good enough reason to vote for him.

This simply proves that most of the American people (whites, blacks, latinos, etc.) are too stupid to be allowed to vote. No one cares about (or apparently knows about) the issues, the politics, or the capabalities of the candidates.

I'm soooooooo tired of hearing "1st AFRICAN-AMERICAN PRESIDENT". He's 50% black and 50% white, right??? so he's just as white as black? I find it interesting that Obama touted himself as black and not biracial - wouldn't he have gained a larger following, or does he himself think that we are still a racially polarized people. Like it or not people will find an identity between themselves and the candidate of their choice, be it race, skin color, gender, age, or what have you.......so you have people voting for him solely because he's black and people voting against him solely because he's black. Whatever moniker people tag him with, he's the President-elect of this country and as Americans we are all obligated to stand behind him as our leader - REGARDLESS of whether you like him or not. The majority of us stood behind Bush after 9-11 as a nation even though we had differing opinions about the war. Now the majority of us ridicule Bush as a nation because of the war - does this help our country's image in the eyes of the world?

I did many hours of research into the candidates and their platform and record and I chose not to vote for Obama, but I'm not going to piss and moan because he won - my life still goes on regardless of who is President..... I'll still have to struggle at a job to pay bills that I'm drowning in like most Americans out there..... Obama is not going to be the Savior of my problems - I am. Americans need to realize that the government doesn't exist to make your problems in life magically disappear...... The government may make life easier or harder for you, but you have to adapt to changes in life all the time wether they come from the government or some other source.

I personally don't think that there is much in the way of "Change" coming on the horizon, but if Obama surprises us by making change happen, then we are a better country for it. Just remember it takes our entire government to make "change" a reality, not just one man. The economy has it's ups and downs regardless of who is the President......... war happens regardless of who is President......... would Gore have been any better or worse for America??? Apparently it's electoral votes that gets you to the white house, and while the voting figures show Obama only got about 6 million more votes than McCain the fact remains that he got more than DOUBLE the electoral votes that McCain got and McCain was more than 100 short of the required 270 ...that's a landslide no matter how you want to excuse the republican loss or quote statistics out of context.

The only way those total votes stats would be in context is if the US Election System was 1:1, then it'd be 55% Obama, 45% McCain which isn't a landslide at all, but your system doesn't do that. So get back into your armchair for another 4 years and watch a bit of progress instead of 'Guns Over Politics' ;)
