Oct 21 2008Tina Fey on Sarah Palin: 'She's got none of that droopy shit. She's keeping it tight!'

Tina Fey has been thrust into the political spotlight this election year ever since John McCain picked her Alaskan doppelganger Sarah Palin to be his running mate. Initially, Tina didn't see the resemblance but now wishes the two looked more alike, according to the latest issue of TV Guide:

"When I first saw her, I didn't think we looked alike at all. Then during the convention, I started to think, 'Ok, maybe a little.'
"I'll tell you, that lady is five times better-looking than I am. She's 44? She's got none of that droopy s--t. She's keeping it tight!"

And that's an endorsement. Quick, somebody slap that shit on a bumper sticker: "Sarah Palin: 1 out of 1 liberal comedians that look like her agree: 'She's tight like prom night.' McCain/Palin '08. AWWW YEAH!"

haha good news there?

Who gives a fuck this bitch is not funny, and Palin is potentially very dangerous.

Tina's wrong. Sarah Palin is 10 times better looking than her.
#3 - You're right. She is dangerous. She's dangerous to America's enemies - liberals and terrorists.
McCain/Palin '08

Um, yes and yes on the bumper sticker, please. Except leave out the whole McCain Palin 08 thing.

@6, are you serious ????

JJ people like you are the reason America is in the shitter. Liberals are tne enemy? Give me a fucking break. Soon its going to be Liberals = Terrorists.

Go choke yourself and do us a favor

Tina Fey should be following Sarah Palin around slurping her ass after every dump. It was Palin (or VPILF as I like to call her, V.P. I'd like to Fuck) that resurrected Fey's pathetic career. After years of watching Amy Poehler carry Fey on the Weekend Update, I was so happy to see that sniveling little wretched bitch booted from the show, with her little "quips" and holier than thou attitude as she blamed everything from the weather to her period on GW Bush.
Now Fey has the audacity to publicly denounce Palin and is quoted as saying she can't wait till Obama is elected so she never has to play the VPILF again.
I hope McCain-Palin win so that this wretched excuse for an American is type-cast and can never find any other acting roles except playing Palin, which will hopefully drive her to commit suicide.

^
dum dum

Palin is a joke!

@8 yes they are. They are also a complete moron.

Thankfully, they will not get what they want come November.

Am I the only one who read Tina Fey on Sara Palin and got mildly erect?

@13

We can only hope! I live in Texas( not by choice), so I am surrounded by these right wing whack-jobs.

@yank,wank, bad teeth,

Fuck you and your little toilet floater you call a country. Even IF we elect a fucking piece of crap socialist, we'll still be better at being socialist than you pathetic limey's.

Put down the tea you effeminate douche and have some coffee.

McCain/Palin supporters are getting nervous.......the end is near for them. Palin will soon fade back into obscurity, and we'll all be better off for it. I'm looking forward to it.

^ Assclown

When I listen to Pat Buchanan, and Michelle Bachman, and witness the smear campaign that McCain/Palin have launched, I just cringe. What happened to the Republican Party I grew up with? Is this the type of leadership we want in the White House?

After looking into Palin’s record, I am convinced that she is not ready take on the position of neither president, nor VP for that matter. And McCain is hardly the “maverick” he is now portraying. I listened to the Colin Powell segment on Meet the Press, as well as the interview he gave to reporters later, and I agreed with everything he said. I’m voting for Obama; first time I’ve ever voted for a Democrat for the presidency. But I firmly believe it’s the right thing to do, given the alternatives, and given the state of national and global affairs, today.

^ Bigger Assclown

@bar room hero, lol

You should most likely move to england then. You may be happier. Just a thought.

I love it when you guys confuse smear campaign with truth.

That's how you get by though. Ignore truth.

Absolutely right. Palin is no more qualified to be vice president than the governor of Arkansas was to be president in 1992. (That's Clinton for the historically challenged.)

^ biggest assclown

$603M in spending compared to $79M and all they can do is a few points better in the poles?
This should not even be a race and now the gap is narrowing daily?WTF?
This is total proof of how smart "the messiah" really is....

sarah is the shit

@26
oops. you put 'the' in there...............
We understand what you mean though

#6 Watches too much Fox News and Hannity.

I like Obama's tax plan to have the tax rates like in the Regan administration. The rich elite get taxed the most because they make the most money and give tax breaks to the rest of the 95 percent of Americans. McCain wants to give the oil companies 4 billion dollars in tax breaks and not give the rest of the 95 percent of Americans a tax break.

#8 Yes, I am serious.
#9 Liberals will never equal terrorists, unless you're Ayres, who is both. However, liberals are a threat to the American way, pushing us ever closer to socialism and a welfare state and making us weak. Choke myself? Intelligent.
#13 "yes they are. They are also a complete moron. " You're calling me a moron?? Learn proper grammar before trying to make such a point and looking like a fool.
#17 I AM nervous. Look at the responses to my comment and realize these geniuses have the right to vote. It makes me very nervous.

"It was Palin (or VPILF as I like to call her, V.P. I'd like to Fuck) that resurrected Fey's pathetic career."

Tina Fey left SNL to create, write, and be the lead actress for "30 Rock". She's won Emmy awards for all 3 parts of her involvement in the show. She was at a career high before Sarah Palin brought her Trig-speak to the national political stage. Like a lot of people, Fey did better after leaving the long-stale SNL show.

#23

You should be comparing Palin with Biden and not Clinton. Clinton studied Government and Law in college. Biden has by far a more impressive education to be President because he majored in Political Science, History, and Law. Palin just majored in communications.

Palin spent her first college semester at Hawaii Pacific College, transferring in 1983 to North Idaho College and then to the University of Idaho. She attended Matanuska-Susitna College in Alaska for one term, returning to the University of Idaho to complete her Bachelor of Science degree in communications-journalism, graduating in 1987.

Biden attended the University of Delaware in Newark, where he graduated with a double major in history and political science in 1965. He went on to receive his J.D. from Syracuse University College of Law in 1968, and was admitted to the Delaware Bar in 1969.

Tina Fey for President!!!

Dips. If the pendulum of democracy doesn't swing from liberal to conservative every few years, this country will become what all others have before it - a banana republic, controlled by the banks. Dips. Franklin told you how to be free, so stop ignoring a man who is smarter than you + your children + your children's children's children will ever be. Read a book.

#3 - "You're right. She is dangerous. She's dangerous to America's enemies - liberals and terrorists."

This is what McCain and Palin are bringing out in America. Not just in psychos yelling stuff out at rallies or ranting online, but in on-the-record interviews by elected Republicans:

Michelle Backmann, Republican Representative, Minnesota:

“I wish the American media would take a great look at the views of the people in Congress and find out are they pro-America or anti-America."

McCain/Palin? No. McCarthy/Palin. You're a disgrace to this country.

I do think that in this counrty, Liberals are the closest thing to terrorist we have. They tear down the working class while giving everything to the worthless fucking welfare scum who are draining this country dry. Why? because liberals only care about POWER and giving the scum of America a free ride guarantees votes. LIBERALS ARE SCUM OF THE EARTH. Not Democrats_ Liberals. There is a big diference.

#28 Oooh...FoxNews and Hannity. I've never heard that one before. Go watch MSNBC and Olbermann and Maddow. Ha! Gotcha!!
So you like the idea of penalizing those who do well. You want to give a tax break to the 40% of Americans who don't pay any taxes? That means we send them a check in the mail, and that's called welfare. Wait, I have a better idea. Lets not cut or raise anyone's taxes. Lets keep more money in everyone's pockets, so businesses can afford to hire more people. Lets spend less, help only those who really need it, balance the budget, pay down the debt and get out of this hole we've dug ourselves into. Then we can invest in renewable energy and alternative energy and get off foreign oil. Let's let people decide how to spend their money, and not the government.

---36--
How about taxing people that can afford to pay a higher tax rate. Obama has no problem getting taxed at the higher rate. 95 percent of Americans pay a higher tax rate than the rich 5 percent of Americans.

--29--
For the past 8 years corporate America has enjoyed corporate welfare under the Bush Administration. While corporate America and the rich elite get the greatest tax breaks, 95 percent of the rest of Americans have a higher tax rate than corporations and the rich elite. America feeds most of the world but the US can’t take care of the 20 percent of the Americans living in poverty? I believe you have no idea what you are talking about and are repeating Republican rhetoric from watching Fox News and listening to Hannity & Combs. The rich Republicans are counting on people like you to keep the rich richer and the middle class and poor poorer by voting for McCain.

Much ado about nothing.

The election is in the Electoral College, not in the general vote. McCain is clearly ahead in maybe 2 or 3 battleground states, and all the rest are either tied or have Obama clearly ahead. McCain is way behind Bush's electoral map in his two squeaker election victories. He'll need absolutely everything to break his way on election day. Won't happen.

My problem with Palin's comments aret who decides whether one is pro- or anti-American? I mean, come on, we have been down that road before and it was disastrous. Comments like hers are dangerous. Sure, she is a MILFy governor that I;d poke, but that does not mean I trust the bitch. And I lean conservative, too.

#34 - Read my post #29 "Liberals will never equal terrorists, unless you're Ayres, who is both. However, liberals are a threat to the American way, pushing us ever closer to socialism and a welfare state and making us weak."
I never said Liberals are anti-American and I wasn't comparing them to terrorists. I don't think Liberals are anti-American at all. They love the country as much as conservatives do. What makes liberals dangerous is their ideology. Taking over peoples' lives and controlling people's money. Big government that decides how you should live your life. I don't believe this way of thinking coincides with the vision our founding fathers had for this country. This, of course, is my opinion, which does not make me a disgrace. It makes me an American citizen who has the right to say what I think, as do you. I'm not a psycho, however, I question your stability in the way you go off on someone who disagrees with you. Have a nice day.

You stupid ass monkeys. The last 2 Democratic Presidents were both southern governors with ZERO foreign policy experience. I do not care what they studied in college. Hell, I studied politics in college, does that make me qualified? Umm, no. Sure, they ran a state government. So has Palin. but big whoop. Clinton and Carter both sucked balls at foreign affairs, and Palin would too. It is the only issue where being a Washington insider actually does matter.

McCain is going to lose, and he and the remaining "red meat" Republicans who are supporting him now will have to live with the political consequences of behaving like the KKK.

Calling Tina Fey a comedian is a bit of a stretch, isn't it?

.

#37 - I agree that individuals who make more can afford to pay more. The only thing is, small businesses take a hit as well, and small businesses create a lot of jobs. If they get taxed more, it inhibits their ability to create jobs. You're wrong about 95% of Americans paying more than the richest 5%. The truth is that the top 10% of income earners in this country pays almost 50% of all income taxes collected because of progressive taxation. If Obama is willing to pay more in taxes, fine. I just don't think he should impose it on others.
I agree with you about the ultra-rich and corporations who can afford tax attorneys and high-dollar accountants to find loopholes to get out of taxes. The tax code needs to be simplified so they pay their fair share. I'm all for taking care of our own people who need help ahead of sending money overseas. I resent the fact that you assume I don't know what I'm talking about because I disagree with you. I also resent the fact that you don't think I can think for myself. I shouldn't even comment on these boards, because all it does is bring attacks from folks like you, who read into my comments what you want to read into them. You're the second person who accused me of watching FoxNews and Hannity and Colmes. What's up with that? Because I have conservative thoughts, I can't think for myself and I'm a mindless drone of Hannity's? I don't automatically accuse liberals of not knowing what they're talking about and only watching MSNBC and Olbermann and Maddow. How about intelligent debate and leaving the attacks out of it. What do you expect from the internet, though?

Confusing "smear with truth"? I just can't believe that comment.

The facts have proven that Obama: Is a US citizen; is not a Socialist; is not a Muslin terrorist; never "palled around with terrorist groups" never "palled around" with Ayers; and does not have former Fannie Mae executives working for him in his campaign.

If people don't know the facts, then get them, please. Stop reading those stupid chain e-mails, and stop listening to the vitrioloc rehtoric that McCain/Palin have sadly embraced in order to win this election. If you don't want to know the truth, then God help you...before it's too late.

What the hell have liberals ever done in this country? When have they ever had any power? The Republicans have had control over things for some time now, and liberals haven't had power over squat. Maybe if they had, the country wouldn't doing so poorly.

#40 - tap dance all you want. "America's enemies" is what you said. "We know who the good guys are" is what Palin said. Investigating elected members of Congress to see whether they are "pro-America or anti-America" is what Bachmann said (echoing Palin's "pro-America" language). You are all explicitly calling for a return to McCarthy's Committee on Un-American Activities. Non-citizens of America who are trying to harm the country are our enemies. American citizens exercising their free speech rights and expressing their ideas about how to get America out of its current mess are not its enemies.

Now Jim Jones, that's some Kool-Aid I can drink!

To JJ:

I'm a business consultant who happens to own a small business. From a tax perspective, I will make out better under Obama's plan -- not McCain. McCain's revocation of certain tax codes that are available to businesses would create more taxable income. The net comparison between the two plans show, for me, that the "winner" from this perspective is Barack Obama.

Oddly enough, most of the businesses I perform services for (both small and large), do not invest a portion of their profts into their corporate infrastructure, although they could and should. They give their high-ranking excutives an increase in salary, bonuses, etc. Usually, they are looking to cut back on jobs -- not hire more people. The larger firms are always looking to fill in-house labor needs from off-shore companies because it is much cheaper to do so. At least one-third of my clients do not match 401(k) contributions, despite the fact that they can well afford to do so.

Of course, there are firms that look to create new jobs, but to assume that most businesses out there share in this philosophy just isn't realistic.

Conservatives are already being such poor losers in this election. You stole the election in 2000, and you used shameless fear tactics to barely win the 2004 election (constantly altering the national terrorist attack "threat level" as if the country was always on the verge of being attacked - how many times has the national threat level changed since then?). Sorry, but you're out of dirty tricks. At least, dirty tricks that work - McCain's and Palin's "Imperial Wizard" act is forcing reluctant independent voters over to Obama, purely out of a basic sense of American decency.

Five times more attractive? I'll see that and raise you ten, Tina.

And to everybody not talking about tight bodies, this is supposed to be a site about tits & ass, not politics for the GED & community college crowd. I wonder if this bullshit existed among voters when it was just landowners...

Sorry for the typo -- that's not "more taxable income", that's fewer tax credits, and more tax liabilities.

Who cares about all the debating. It's done. You can't come back from McCain's deficits in battleground states unless the other guy collapses, and Obama won't. The only remaining questions are Obama's margin of victory and how many congressional seats the Dems pick up. All John McCain is doing right now is ruining his reputation at the end of a long and remarkable career.

#47 Don't worry. I don't feel the need to tap dance around you. I was simply clarifying what I meant and correcting what you read into it. Bachmann is wrong. McCarthyism was wrong. Liberalism will push America closer to socialism, which will harm the country, making it an enemy. It's that simple. Call me a psycho all you want - you're the paranoid one. Good luck.

For those railing at Palin's educational background, I suppose we could go back and elect a brilliant Southern Gov like Jimmy Carter, he of 21% interest rates and rampant unemployment, not to mention a 444 day hostage mess. Point is, vote for who you want but don't be silly and assume that running Alaska today is less complicated that running Arkansas 20 years ago or Georgia 30 years ago. Don't like Palin? Vote for Obama but if you're the least bit objective, you'll give Sarah Palin her due..

Um......Ms Fey? You will ALWAYS be more beautiful than that rightwing whore Palin - ALWAYS. By the way, JJ, you're not pyscho - you're no more special than all the fuckiing dimwits who think that playing in a non-rigged game means SOCIALISM.

To JJ - #54

McCain is wrong; Palin is wrong; Buchanan is wrong; Bachman is wrong; and it spreads out from there. This "wrong" you speak of is doing more to tear this country apart than Obama's national and world view (as well as Powell's) could ever do. The Bush Doctrine --post 9-11 -- is yet another example of this fierce neo-conservatism that has destoryed our credibility and respect all over the world. And rightly so. Liberalism, for what it's worth, is not socialism. Obama has one of the best minds I have witnessed in many years. I only hope he wins this election. And I happen to be a Republican.

For those of you who keep repeating the Obama BS about how the rich aren't taxed and the poor / middle income are, maybe you should look at the IRS breakdowns on who actually pays taxes. 33%- 40 Million wage earners PAY NO FEDERAL INCOME TAX. You can't reduce taxes for people who PAY NO FEDERAL INCOME TAX.

The top 1% of income earners pay 39.89% of all income taxes. The Top 5% pay 60.14% and the Top 10% of wage earners pay 70.79% of the income tax revenue paid to the IRS. The Top 2% pay 86.27% of all income tax revenues, while the Top 50% of wage earners pay 97.01% of all income tax revenues. That's right, morons, the bottom 50% of all wage earners pay for 2.99% of all tax revenues.

How can anyone with even a few functioning brain cells look at the actual tax revenue numbers and believe that the 'rich' are paying their fair share?

Quit buying into the class warfare BS that's been used to manipulate the weak of this country since 1932 when FDR set the stage for today's socialist platform of the Democratic Party. Their mascot is an donkey for a reason. Dumb asses.

@geoS

Deny the fact that ayers is a terrorist. deny the fact that obama had a function hosted in his honor at ayers house. deny it. If I had brunch at tim mcvey's house, you would scoff if I said "I barely knew him"

This FACT alone should disqualify anyone as commander in chief.

You people HATE republicans so damn much, you will ignore that.

Please DENY that Obama, in his own words, says Rev. Wright is his spiritual mentor. Deny it. Believe that he went to the guys church, for TWENTY years, got married by him, and had his kid baptized by him and NEVER ONCE heard any racist shit. Deny it.

This FACT alone should disqualify anyone for any public office.

I stand by my statement. THESE are FACTS that the Obama campaign has put spins on so you sheeple can dismiss it.

Ignore this fact too: Obama has already pledged a shitload of money to the UN. Is he going to get that from 5% of america? LOL. That and feed all the hungry?

Gees, sensible. When Palin first hit the RNC stage, I thought she was a breath of fresh air. Then I looked into her record, and history, and how what she actually has done versus what she says she has done. My initial view did a 180-degee turn. I don't think I would let this woman in my home. No offsense; I wish her well; but no way she is who she has pretended to be to the American people; not even close. I gave her my due, and I took it back.

#49 - You make very good points. I, too, would do better under Obama, since I make (a lot) less than $250,000. it's the principle of "spreading the wealth" that I don't agree with. I'd rather have a flat tax so everyone pays the same percentage of their income, no matter how much they make. That seems fair to me.
It's sad that the businesses you consult decide to throw money at executives rather than expanding their workforce building their infrastructure in order to increase real productivity. They are being foolish and irresponsible. The only way to grow a business is to keep re-investing in it. They need only look at the failed banks who made similarly bad decisions and went under.
I wish the government would do more about making it worth a business' while to keep jobs stateside and increase payroll. It's beyond my knowledge, though.
Thanks for your insight.

To Right Fury:

I rest my case. You don't want to know the facts.

If you try to end welfare for the largest corporations, you're a socialist.

I remember...it was long, long ago...when America actually educated its citizens, instead of numbing them with chanted slogans.

Tina Fey and Jimmy Fallon were a funny comedy duo on Weekend Update on SNL. Now that they're both gone from SNL I don't find the Update nearly as funny.

Hey Doc...58

What would have happened had FDR not made the changes in this country during the Great Depression? Better yet, who and what caused the Great Depression?

Obama is not friends with Ayers.

The Race:
Barack Obama (D) vs John McCain (R); President of the US

The Smear:
The Republicans, desperate to smear Barack and try to build on their lies about his religion, insinuate that Barack Obama has a deep relationship with William Ayers. William Ayers was once a member of a radical group in the 1960s.

The Truth:
While “guilt by association” is one of the more bogus attacks in any political campaign, the attacks on Barack Obama over William Ayers are particularly “ridiculous,” in the words of one Republican legislator from Illinois. The entire attack is based on their mutual membership in a highly respected organization, an educational foundation started by a Reagan supporter and boasting a membership of some of the most respected members of Illinois society, both Republicans and Democrats.

The fact is that Barack Obama lived in the same area of Chicago as Ayers, and Ayers has been a respected, politically active member of that community for years. Considering that, it’s actually remarkable how little the two have to do with each other. Early in Barack Obama’s career, he attended one reception in his own honor at Ayers’ house. They also were separately asked by a Republican-created charitable organization to serve on that organization’s board. And that’s it. "Mr. Ayers played no role in Mr. Obama's appointment [to the board]," reported the New York Times. There’s no friendship between the two, no relationship, no history of working together beyond that.

Again quoting the Times, “Nor has Mr. Obama ever expressed sympathy for the radical views and actions of Mr. Ayers, whom he has called ‘somebody who engaged in detestable acts 40 years ago, when I was 8.’” Even Republican State Rep. Diana Nelson, who has worked with both men, calls the attacks “ridiculous,” and declared to NPR, “There is no reason at all to smear Barack Obama with this association. It's nonsensical, and it just makes me crazy. It's so silly." Here’s Politifact on the foundation:

In short, this was a mainstream foundation funded by a mainstream, Republican business leader and led by an overwhelmingly mainstream, civic-minded group of individuals. Ayers' involvement in its inception and on an advisory committee do not make it radical – nor does the funding of programs involving the United Nations and African-American studies.

This attack is false, but it's more than that – it's malicious. It unfairly tars not just Obama, but all the other prominent, well-respected Chicagoans who also volunteered their time to the foundation. They came from all walks of life and all political backgrounds, and there's ample evidence their mission was nothing more than improving ailing public schools in Chicago.

This whole manufactured issue was already hashed over in the primary, but the Republicans, desperate to change the subject from the economic crisis and the unpopularity of their disastrous policies, are trying to revive this discredited attack once again. A shady Republican front group even ran ads trying to tie the 60s-era activities of Ayers to Al Qaeda today. If you believe we should get beyond the battles of the 60s to meet the challenges of the 21st century, reject these tired attacks and spread the truth. Forward this message on!

Why is everyone so afraid of socialism? Is an egalitarian society really that big of a problem for people? Too afraid you might have to share your stuff? If humans want to continue to survive we've got to learn how to get along with each other and share. Just like your kindergarten teacher tried to tell you.

Here's what I find amusing about all of this. McCain/Palin are doing their redmeat thing, again, 7 weeks after the convention, because they've been forced to go back and try to defend the red states. That's why they're going at it with such nakedly biased language. It's sooooooo late to be doing that. Two weeks before the election is when you back off the harshest stuff, refine your language, try to look presidential, and make a big push to see if you can get any of your opponent's states that have started to waiver. The entire campaign is taking place in states that should be dead locks for a Republican.

Meanwhile, Sarah Palin is shameless polishing her own image for whatever her political future might hold. Over and over again she uses language that causes McCain problems with anybody who's not a red meat Republican, and casually mentions positions that conflict with McCain's. She still gets much larger crowds than he does and it's completely gone to her head. Forget all the stuff about whether she's smart or experienced enough. That's not the problem - the problem is when she steps in front of a huge adoring crowd, puts on her huge grin of delight, and starts into her schtick. She doesn't give a crap about McCain. She's all about "The Palin Show" now. She's starting fires he has to put out, and at the worst time possible.

What I see here is similar to what I'm seeing all over. People have lost their objectivity to the point where anyone on the ballot with (R) next to their name is assumed to be the anti-christ. #58 is absolutely correct that the bulk of the tax revenue received by the government TODAY comes from a very small percentage of the population.. it's a simple fact - simply cannot be denied. there's nothing "fair" about the majority of the population receiving benefits paid for by a small minority.

#57 - Look, I agree that Bush has messed things up and I agree that Obama is a very intelligent man. I just don't agree with how he sees things. Going from Bush and swinging as far left as the most liberal Senator in the Senate is a huge swing. Can't we get someone a little more in the middle who can be somewhat moderate? Someone who can be strong on foreign policy, yet be willing to work and talk with others? I'd like a president who will stop spending us into the toilet, too. I think Obama wants to throw money at all of our problems to make them go away. We can't afford it - we're BROKE! Liberal tax and spend methods will crush us.
If Obama wins, which I think he will, I hope he does great. I hope he turns things around and becomes the greatest president in history, because that would be best for our country. I would hope if McCain wins, the people who have ripped me on this site would feel the same way, although I wouldn't hold my breath.

#61

I made approximately $269,000 last year from the sales of my software product and software support. I am voting for Obama and have no problem getting taxed at a higher rate. The people that make less than me deserve to get a better tax break when Obama gets elected.

@ geo

I rest my case. you dismiss the truth. You still haven't even tried to deny one thing in my post.

@ Linda
LOL, you fucking pasted that from a pro obama site. sheep. I own a bridge in brooklyn, wanna buy it?

That BULLSHIT you posted is damage control, spin. Wake up.

It's a sad day for US when you let your hatred for republicans cloud your judgement. Whats funny is most repubs never liked McCain anyway because he was too left. It's almost like, you guys were so damn disappointed when bush stole the election that even if saddam hussein was a democrat, you'd have voted for him. SHIT, I bet you would.

@OCD

THAT my friends is socialism

I make 2,600, 48 bajillion dollars from producing widgets

and I DO mind.

Why don't YOU pay more money and leave mine alone.

#72

You are the misguided fool buying into all the Republican lies. So Obama happened to be on the same committee as Ayers and so were other prominent people; big deal. I once lived next door to a crack house and gave one of the crack addicts a ride to the hospital; does this make me a crack dealer? I am an Independent and voted for Reagan and the richest people got the highest tax rate under the Regan administration. This is all Obama wants to do; have the tax rate like it was during Reagan administration.

The problem is that you can't look at everything as a percentage. You can't start counting at zero income and start analyzing taxes from that point. It costs a certain amount for individuals and families to live, just to break even. Most people don't ever get substantially above that point. Ranting about people who pay no federal income tax is nonsensical, because if you tax them, you drive them below the break even point and create a need for assistance. OF COURSE the tax burden should fall more heavily on people who earn far above the cost of living break even point. The goal of tax levels should be to fund necessary governmental programs, not create additional need for them.

You want more fairness? Raise the exemption level and then set a flat rate above that, with no bullshit loopholes or deductions or any other tax break that lobbyists always manage to secure for their clients. That's as fair as we could possibly get. But every time the tax code gets simplified, it gets shot to hell with hole put in by members of congress - who get cheered when they advertise their success to the people it helps. We only boo the other guy's representative. In the end, voters are selfish. Politicians simply try to capitalize on that to have a successful career. The end result is bad government.

#73

You sound like a greedy asshole that spends a lot of money on luxury items to feel better about himself. The world needs more humanitarians, not greedy selfish bastards like you!

I think Ayers’ ideology and his participation in the 60s as a violent activist are repugnant. Today, Ayers is a distinguished professor at University of Illinois; received the Citizen of the Year Award from the city of Chicago in 1995; and serves on the board of the Woods Fund for Chicago, an anti-poverty, philanthropic organization that focuses its efforts on bringing opportunities to disadvantaged. He works with Democrats and Republicans alike in many aspects of his field of education, and the work he does for the disadvantaged in Chicago. Do Palin/McCain suggest that the city of Chicago, the University, its students, and the Foundation be shunned, ridiculed and smeared for associating with a “terrorist”?

Palin has sound philosophy and is a reasonably intelligent individual.

She's also soon to join a very elite class of GILFs.

@ 28 - Are you aware of a concept called "trickle down economics"? It is a very real blueprint that shows that when you "stick it to corporate/rich America" they don't have as much capitol to use for expansion/benefits/HIRING, which means our unemployment rate rises as a direct result? I bet that tax break will help a bunch when you don't have a job because your company has to cut costs...
@ JJ - HELL YEAH!
GEEZER/GIDGET '08

meh.

Our kids will have to save us. We're obviously too selfish to do anything except fuck things up. Did you know this is the first generation of Americans who have less education than their parents? We stopped sacrificing long ago, and it shows.

One a side note - If Bob Barr had an ice-cube's chance in hell of winning, I'd vote for him, he makes more sense than all of the other candidates, but alas, I'll settle for the McCain/PitbullPalin ticket. Either way, I'm just elated Hillary's scary ass isn't on the ticket.

# 80

your "Did you know this is the first generation of Americans who have less education than their parents?" statement is exactly right.

And from reading the majority of these posts, no additional proof is necessary..

#67 - Ask the USSR how socialism is working for them. Oh, wait...Nevermind! Stop one of the boats coming ashore in Florida full of folks trying to get out of Cuba. Ask them - they'll tell you all about the joys of socialism.

#75 - Well said. You have your stuff together. I would vote for you. A flat tax that starts at a certain level with no loopholes would be great. I wouldn't mind the Fairtax either - a federal sales tax that would eliminate income taxes and the IRS. Hit Tiger Woods when he buys another 155-foot, $22 million yacht.

#79

lol! Trickle down economics obviously does not work. 20 percent of Americans live in the poverty level and there is a huge gap between middle class and the 5 percent of the rich elite. Are you talking about Corporate America cutting costs so the elite chiefs get bigger compensation or the small businesses that make up most of America?

Your comment is an old scare tatic the Republicans like to use about losing jobs.

So, do you believe that handing out money to people who aren't working will solve the problem?
Trickle down may be an oldie, but it's also TRUE.

@65

The economoy was in a recession in 1932 when FDR was elected, courtesy of Hoover's raising taxes and protectionist trade policy. It was FDR's governmental intrusion that worsened the economy, creating the depression and extendeding its' duration. Had FDR simply repealed the tax increase and protectionist trade policies, the economy would have recovered within roughly two years. Instead, he gave us a decade long depression and created government programs that set the ground work for many of the worthless programs we have today- and many of the $800 billion in new programs Obama is peddling.

Doesn't matter what your opinion is about liberal policies. You're going to live under them for the next 4 years. About 25% of you will stay as frothing at the mouth as you are now, declaring that the very fabric of America is being destroyed. The other 75% will say "This is ok, I guess, I dunno" and go watch more TV.

#86

Hoover increased taxes for all Americans and Obama wants to increase taxes for only 5 percent of Americans.

The McCain campaign has taken to denigrating some of Obama's tax proposals as "welfare" rather than tax cuts. And it continues to mislead about who would see a tax increase.

A new McCain-Palin Web ad characterizes Obama's proposed refundable tax credits as "welfare." But McCain himself proposes refundable tax credits, too, as part of his health care plan, and calls them "reform."

The ad also says "hard-working families" and "seniors" would pay higher taxes. But – need we say this again? – that would be true only for the affluent few, not for the many.

To 86 --

Hey Doc;

Nope. Here's what really happened:

The Great Depression actually got its start with the prosperity decade of the 20’s. The vast difference between the rich and the poor widened, and enormous tax cuts given to the wealthy; the workers got a very small share of this wealth due to their low wages. People were encouraged to buy on credit, and buy into the stock market on margin. The bubble expanded until it burst. Although a few recessions had hit prior to the Great Depression it wasn't until the Stock Market crash in 1929, that the Great Depression finally took hold. FDR took office in the spring of 1933. The federal programs he initiated helped restore the GNP to its former levels, but he refused to let government spending run at the deficit levels that would have been required to end the depression. It wasn't until WWII, when deficit spending began, and the employment of defense workers, and drafting of soldiers, did the depression end.

Nice try, tho.

I belive Poll Valuted is quite frightened, realizing McCain and Palin are circling the drain. Too bad, little guy. Obscurity is on the horizon for them, and it's not a moment too soon.

I'm not "sharing my wealth" with all the lazy liberals out there. Also, if you think unemployment is high, just wait till Obama taxes corporations another 1%.

Why do many liberals wish death upon people who are not voting for McCain and Palin?

Why do they want peace while saying things like.."For real? McCain? Go die. I hope you choke on something you piece of shit"

Wow.

are voting*

now i sound like a dumbass

great

Calm down #92 #93

Geeze.

SO WHAT IF OBAMA WANTS SOSHELISM HOW R NE OF US GOING TO DO PUBLIC SERVICE WITH THE FAT CATS STEELING ALL OUR COUNTRIES MONEY NO ONE CAN AFORD IT NE MORE LET RICH COPERASHIONS PAY THEY DO NO GOOD NE WAY MAY BE IF WE WERE SOSHELISM EUROPE WOULD RESPECT THE US AND WE WOULD ALL GET HELLTH CARE

O B A M A 0 8!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

To Bernard;

Actually, it's the other way around. Judging from the posts I've read here, and in other places, and the outbursts at Palin rallies, it seem that the neo-cons -- not all Republicans, just the fringe neos -- are crying out the real hatred. There are a number of liberals posting here that have been quite civil. But that's what happens when you lump half of the country into one "crying death" category. It's quite absurd, and just as dangerous.

Emily ... it's easy to understand why you'd vote Democrat ... you're fucking stupid. There are better reasons to vote Democrat, but you're just plain too stupid to vote PERIOD

Emily,

All I can say is Wow. I bet that you'll be the first in line for free handouts. You are a leech of society.

#88 ... if you believe that Obama will only raise taxes on 5% of the taxpayers, you're living in a dream world. Clinton made the same promise and then raised taxes on EVERYONE.

IMO, the Republican party needs to return to its core values of smaller government, more state rights, and greater personal freedom and get off the social issues. The Dems need to get off their socialist agenda and get back to working for the people rather than themselves. Thomas Jefferson said it best when he said "If you have a government large enough to give you everything you want, you have a government large enough to take everything you have."

Obama raised over $150M in September in donations ... what can't those same people donate the same amount of money to actually do something worthwhile, like help the homeless, feed the sick, and other charitable events rather than tax others to do the same thing?

#10- You are an idiot. Tina Fey stars in, writes and produces 30 Rock, which is probably the best received show on TV, and she had a huge hit a few years ago with Mean Girls. Tina Fey doesn't need someone to help her career. She's doing just fine.

Anyway. Tina is crazy. She's at LEAST 10 times better looking than Palin. Palin probably wishes she could look more like Tina.

I guess it doesn't matter, because in a couple of weeks Palin will be out of the spotlight and can go back to being a corrupt governor... and the world will make sense again.

Check out this cool t-shirt I found on Cafepress about Palin and keepin' it tight! I think it's crazy how some new catch phrase comes out and right away you see it all over the place and on t-shirts.

http://www.cafepress.com/cp/members/products/product_edit_design.aspx?itemno=319917432&side=F

Anyone who votes for Obama is fucking stupid, that's all that needs to be said.

OBAMA

YEAH

CHANGE

wait
whoa
never mind...

McCain///Palin 2008!!

"Tight" is not the word that springs to mind, considering she's pushed out those five weirdly named kids.

Tina: I'd hit that in a second.

Sarah: I wouldn't even bop her with the Superficial Guy's cock.

TINA is WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY HOTTER.

Palin is a fat bitch whose jaw could crack walnuts. She's dumb as shit and an embarrassment to women everywhere.

@89

Wes,

Most of FDR's policies were based on socialist and Marxist principles, but few really have any idea how far along that road the Roosevelt administration went and what consequences followed.. Also surprising to many is the multitude of mistakes FDR made, a good number of which Obama wants to copy

FDR and his administration blamed Wall Street greed for the stock market crash of '29, so he decided to almost triple the amount of taxes on businesses along with instituting social security. This, of course, caused more businesses to close and huge numbers of jobs were lost. Canada, in the meantime, had 0 bank closures, because they were mostly large banks and branches of large banks. The Glass Steagal act forbade our banks to also be investment and insurance houses, causing many of our banks to fold.

The government took over agriculture (It tried to raise farm prices by destroying vast amounts of produce — at a time when hunger was a serious problem in the United States), energy, housing (by creating the FHA), etc.... He more than tripled the size of government. He also made it illegal for businesses to interfere with Unions. FDR promoted unionizing in almost every industry in the country and instituted minimum wage rates that priced unskilled labor out of jobs, at a time of massive unemployment. So along with all the taxes he put on businesses, he had unions striking for more benefits and higher wages. That said, more jobs were lost and more businesses closed. Then there were the monetary authorities contracting the money supply in the midst of the biggest depression in history — when the economy was showing some signs of revival, until their monetary contraction touched off another big downturn.

His administration actually sent representatives to the Soviet Union to study their "Utopian Society" and found it to be wonderful with all the nationalizing of the country, the only problem was that there was "some corruption in positions of power" and also they did have some issues with "some of the lack of civil liberties", but thought that maybe that might be necessary to quell the populous in times of shortages. All in all they thought that the form of government had a great many virtues that could help to "close the gap between the haves and the have nots". Also, the terms "spreading the wealth" and "redistribution of wealth" were both thrown around by not only those opposing socialist ideals, but even by it's advocates. Behind FDR policies was the belief that what was needed was more purchasing power and that this could be achieved by government policies to raise the prices received by farmers and workers. But prices do not automatically translate into greater purchasing power, unless people buy as much at higher prices as they would at lower prices — which they seldom do.

In the end, the Supreme Court decreed that many of his plans were unconstitutional. So he would try to institute many of them via executive order and the Supreme Court would state that the constitution did not authorize the POTUS to meddle in the areas in which he was trying to manipulate. He actually had quite a few admitted "socialist" in charge of many areas of government. Luckily many of FDR's socialist/nationalizing of many private sectors, were eventually overturned, but a great many more are still in place. The dept. of Agriculture still pays farmers to not farm so much of their lands, FHA, Federal Reserve Chairman, and on and on. There had been a similar market correction in the early 20's when the government kept it's nose out of Wall Street and things corrected themselves in less than a year. FDR made it last over a decade, and who knows how long if it hadn't been for WWII.

Your revisionist history may fool some, but not all. Nice try, though.

@ 88

How can you cut taxes for 95% of the public when only 67% of wage earners actually pay taxes? The bottom 33% of wage earners pay no federal income tax. If they aren't paying taxes, you can't give them a tax cut. In fact, those in the 34-50 percentile pay only 2.99% of all federal income tax revenues.

With Obama's plan, there are 10 million people who pay no federal income tax who will receive a check, a.k.a tax credit, for $10,000. The other 30 million who don't pay federal income tax will receive less money than that.

That said, where is the incentive for someone to work to improve their lot in life when they can do nothing an collect a government check?

Biden touts his noble-named Violence Against Women Act. He took an oath to preserve, protect and uphold our Constitution. As noble as the intentions were, it was a blatantly unconstitutional law, and was quickly overturned by the Supreme Court.

Sometimes one must stand up for what's right. But to tout an ignorant defeat as a triumph towards women undermines our real efforts.

BTW, search CNET to see just how Biden is in the pocket of music & media companies. Kinda explains the celeb endorsements.

I like Obama's smile =]

PALIN IS HOT HOT

I RATHER SEE HER FOR THE NEXT 4 YEARS THAN GAFFE GLORE BIDEN.

I wish Obama had picked her..Now that would have been a dream ticket..but then Michelle ...hmmm

SARAH PALIN IS FRICKIN' SEXY. I'M OFFICIALLY VOTING FOR MCCAIN NOW.

I ever saw this content on the biggest tall dating site ☆ t a l l c h a t. C o m ☆ you can meet some pretty and hot singles/ people/celebs there. Maybe some of them will be interested in your person.

No more welfare hogs. I do not believe poor people have a right to procreate. Sorry. All that does is spread around inferior genetics in a dying nation.
Tax the unholy fuck out of the rich. Take away most of their money as they have taken away ours since the Reagan era. Simply arrest all these greedy thieving CEOs and lawyers and other anti-American cronies and take all their money. We don't need this parasitic caste here. They contribute nothing. They cleverly find ways to manipulate the system to their advantage and rob the working class AND the government, therefore they are traitors and must be punished.

Have you guys heard that there us supposed to be something really big going down in a couple months? I for one am scared shitless. I know you hardy brain-dead right wing crooks could care less. Good solid Jesus worshipping bringers of war. Solid warrior class. Well, get ready to see how brave you really are.

The amount of ignorance from some of the posters is quite staggering; and frightening.
From believeing that you can give tax cuts to those who don't pay taxes to simply not knowing who pays taxes and for how much does give me pause.
I have often wondered how Barack Obama gained such popularity, now I can see why; like every other insult to the institute and principle that is "government" he plays to and wins over the emotionally overcharged and the inane.
There is nothing new about Obama, the things he say are no more special than the things that Carter, FDR, Hoove did and said. But this same ole, same ole reaches in some to a place of fear, stupidity, and utter loathing for who, where, or what they are.
When Republican and Conservative became dirty words is when I started paying attention...and what I see fills me with dread. Learn the facts and push away the processed information that's being fed to you with an iron fist; the red curtain and long ago dictators fell to the wayside for a reason. Must history repeat itself again before some among us begin to take note?

Republican Cons are pissed! And who wouldn't be? Elect representatives whose economic policies are diammetrically opposed to the needs of the constituents and you get...poorer...and angrier people. But the trend is to run in the opposite direction. I would like to be rich and not taxed just like the next person, but our economy needs balance. Anywho, someday the Right Wing working class is going to have to wake up and notice that 1) most folks are not rich, and do not prosper from trickle down 2) farmers in the midwest are being robbed and eaten up by conglomerate corporations that *do* prosper from trickle down and 3) that guts, guns and God does not put food on the working man's table. Our representatives deal in policy - not culture. If reversing Roe v. Wade was so important to Republicans, dontcha think it would be done by now, with 8 years of excecutive and legislative majority?

Smoking girl @114, I love your posts, but I gotta say, that if I turn your stuff around, I can just as easily replace the names to make sense from the other side of the fence:

@114
"I have often wondered how [John McCain] gained such popularity, now I can see why; like every other insult to the institute and principle that is "government" he plays to and wins over the emotionally overcharged and the inane.
There is nothing new about [McCain], the things he say are no more special than the things that [Reagan], [Bush] did and said. But this same ole, same ole reaches in some to a place of fear, stupidity, and utter loathing for who, where, or what they are."

There's more than enough misguided anger to go around from both sides. Republicans aren't stupid, Liberals aren't antichrists and BOTH Tina Fey and Sarah Palin are hot. Vote for the platform that actually works for *you*.

--114--

You need to quit listening to the Rush L radio show. You state no facts but just right wing rhetoric and you throw out some names, but still do not base your statements on fact, but just worthless uniformed opinions. 20 percent of Americans live in poverty and 5 percent of Americans are the richest while 95 percent of Americans fall under mostly middle class and we are slowly losing our upper middle class. A lot of the poor and middle class Americans can not afford the current tax rate. They live paycheck to paycheck and can barely afford the nessecities like food and rent. These Americans need a tax break just to get by and the rich 5 percent can definitely afford a tax increase. Get the facts by going to www.factcheck.org

I hope Tina Fey gets in a car accident, gets cut in half flying through the windsheild, rolls down a hill into a rivine, and lies there suffering for a week, as maggots, ants, and rodents slowly eat the protruding intestines from her severed torso, and just as she's about to take her last breath, a plane flies overhead. Alas, it's not a rescue plane, but it's towing a banner claiming victory for the newly elected John McCain.....LOL, that would be truly funny. Fuck you Tina Fey, Fuck you right in your leftist ass!!!

And FYI, nobody watches 30 Rock....

"Mark my words," Biden told donors at a Seattle fund-raiser Sunday night.

"It will not be six months before the world tests Barack Obama like they did John Kennedy. The world is looking. We're about to elect a brilliant 47-year-old senator president of the United States of America.

"Watch. We're going to have an international crisis, a generated crisis, to test the mettle of this guy.

"And he's going to need help . . . to stand with him. Because it's not going to be apparent initially; it's not going to be apparent that we're right."

McCain treated Biden's comments as a gift while stumping across Missouri yesterday.

"The next president won't have time to get used to the office. We face many challenges here at home and many enemies abroad in this dangerous world," McCain said. "We don't want a president who invites 'testing' from the world at a time when our economy is in crisis and Americans are already fighting two wars."

McCain said it was even "more troubling" that Biden suggested supporters stick by Obama if the actions he takes are wrong or unpopular.

"Senator Obama won't have the right response, and we know that because we've seen the wrong response from him over and over during this campaign," he said.

107

20 percent of Americans do not pay taxes because they live at the poverty level. This means that the 75 percent of Americans that pay the most taxes are the middle and upper middle class Americans while the 5 percent of the richest Americans pay the lowest taxes and this is absolutely unfair. Restrictions have been enforced to welfare recipients to prevent welfare fraud and to motivate them to get training and work. America helps most of the world more than any other country and surely we can give most Americans tax breaks to improve their quality of life. Don’t get fooled again by the rich elite right wing propaganda and scare tactics because all they care about is making more money.

(CNN) – Sarah Palin is taking heat Wednesday for appearing to overstate the role of vice president, saying in a recent interview that she would be "in charge of the Senate" should John McCain win the White House.

The comments came in an interview with Colorado TV station KUSA in response to a third-grader's question, "What does the Vice President do?”

The comments have drawn criticism from Democrats and liberal blogs which note the actual role of the vice president when it comes to the Senate is simply to cast a tie-braking vote in the event of a stalemate. According to Article I of the U.S. Constitution, the vice president is the "President" of the Senate, but has no executive position when it comes to presiding over the chamber.

Donald Ritchie, a historian in the Senate Historical Office told CNN that Palin's comment was an "overstatement" of what her role would be.

"The vice president is the ceremonial officer of the Senate and has certain ceremonial functions including swearing in new senators and can vote to break a tie," he said. "It’s a relatively limited role. It's evolved into a neutral presiding officer of the Senate.

Ritchie also noted recent vice presidents have played a behind-the-scenes lobbying role on Capitol Hill for an administration's policies, but called it "somewhat limited."

"It's not comparable to the Speaker of the House who is certainly in charge of the House," he said. "The slogan that political scientists use is that the House is ruled by the chair and the Senate is ruled by the floor…the senators are in charge of the Senate."

119

Lil,
Since you missed it the first time:

The top 1% of income earners pay 39.89% of all income taxes. The Top 5% pay 60.14% and the Top 10% of wage earners pay 70.79% of the income tax revenue paid to the IRS. The Top 25% pay 86.27% of all income tax revenues, while the Top 50% of wage earners pay 97.01% of all income tax revenues. The bottom 50% of all wage earners pay for 2.99% of all tax revenues- and that 2.9% is paid by those in the 34-50th percentile. Those below the 34 percentile have been receiving the Earned Income Credit since Gerald Ford passed it in 1975, offsetting any monies they may have put into Social Security.

That said, how can you claim that the 'rich' are paying their fair share? You really need to quit buying into the class warfare BS. And just for the record, our 'poverty' class would be 'middle class' in most of Europe, except for the fact America's poor live in bigger houses, own cars, TV's, etc, etc... The US Census bares this out, by the way.

121

Do the rich pay their fair share in taxes? This is likely to become a defining question during the U.S. presidential campaign.

At a fund-raiser for Hillary Clinton, the billionaire investor Warren Buffett said that rich guys like him were not paying enough.

Buffett asserted that his taxes last year equaled only 17.7 percent of his taxable income, compared with about 30 percent for his receptionist.

Buffett was echoing a refrain that is popular in some circles. Last year, Robert Reich, labor secretary during the Clinton administration, wrote on his blog that "middle-income workers are now paying a larger share of their incomes than people at or near the top."

It's ironic that Robert Reich is saying that the middle income workers are paying a larger share of taxes.

In 1999, under the Clinton tax rates, the bottom 50% of wage earners paid 4% of taxes, as compared to 2.99% in 2006. The Top 1% paid 36.18% of tax revenues in 1999, as compared to 39.89% in 2006. The Top 10% of wage earners accounted for 66.45% of taxes paid in 1999, but in 2006 they accounted for 70.79%.

So if, the top wage earners are paying a greater percentage of the tax burden and those in the middle percentiles are payiing less, ie; those in the 26-50th percentiles accounted for 12.46% of tax revenues in 1999 and 10.74% in 2006, that means the tax burden on the middle class is less now than it was when Reich a policy maker.

There is no impirical evidence that supports the claim that the poor and middle class have been hurt by the Bush tax cuts. The only thing supporting this claim is political rhetoric by those who continue to perpetuate class warfare.

##123

Class warfare? How about humanitarian efforts or has greed clouded your logic?

@ 122 - "There is no impirical evidence that supports the claim that the poor and middle class have been hurt by the Bush tax cuts. "

If by "imperical" you mean a combination of empirical and imperial...the definition of impirical should be

Impirical: provable or verifiable by the rule of a soveriegn state over its dependencies

In this case, I absolutely agree, Dr. John! There is no evidence from the ruling administration that the middle class has been hurt by the ruling administration.

#121

"And just for the record, our 'poverty' class would be 'middle class' in most of Europe, "

You can't compare income levels of poverty class here in the US and middle class in Europe. EVERYONE has health care as well as other social services that we, or our employers, have to pay for here in the US. If someone only makes $20,000 a year in Europe their money goes much further because of the greater abundance of services provided by the government.

124

Who said anything about greed? I'm just using facts to point out the BS being peddled as truths to those who blindly accept them as such. As far as Humanitarian efforts go, no group on the planet does more humanitarian work / donations than US tax payers.

125

empirical- merely a typo. Fact remains, census bureau statistics show that a large number of people have increased their incomes in the last 8 years to move up and out of the middle class. The percentage of people in 'poverty' has remained basically the same since the inception of the Great Society Bill and all of the social programs created since to eradicate poverty. Six Trillion Dollars spent on anti-poverty programs and yet the the percentage of people living in 'poverty' remains the same. (LBJ doubled the income level required to be considered poor, by the way, in an effort to justify how many people government assistance). By the way, the average number of hours worked per week by the average 'poor' person (according to the US Census Bureau)- 12. Hard to believe if you only work 12 hours per week, you'd be considered 'poor'. Also, just for the record, when the average incomes of the 'poor' in this country are reported, those figures do not include the $24,000 in annual federal and state assistance the average 'poor' household receives- also courtesy of the US Census Bureau.

126

Ahh, that's why a 450 SF apartment in Paris sells for the equivalent of $250,000- because the French middle class have money to spare because of their socialized medicine and other programs. You also are overlooking the $24,000 in government assistance the average 'poor' 'American' household receives courtesy of tax paying citizens.

NEXT!

What, a guy making 1 billion a year pays more money then 100 people making 30-60k a year?! Yeah, it's progressive taxes, because 5% of 1 billion wouldn't also be way more then 5% of 6 million anyway.

To 119 - Lil

Wrong. These poor Americans pay payroll taxes. THOSE are taxes, Lil.

To 106 - "Dr." John Thomas.

You are completely wrong, and have confused the issue. I asked you who and what created the Great Depression, and what would would have happend had FDR not made the changes he did. You not only avoided the questions completely, you responded with disjointed comments, non-sequitors and smoke-screen rhetoric. I stand by my post.

Nice try, tho.

Well, I'm jumping in here a little late, but Wes -- you're factually correct about the Great Depressoin. Republican President Coolidge was warned in the mid-20’s that the stock market speculation was headed for disaster. In early 1929, Coolidge stated: "No Congress...ever assembled has met with a more pleasing prospect than that which appears at the present time. In the domestic field there is tranquility and contentment...and the highest record of prosperity in years." We all know what happened in October of that year: The Wall Street Crash – the most devastating in US history.

When FDR took over in the spring of 1933, the banking system had all but failed.

don't really care about tina fey. however, palin is a hottie with great legs.
i'd love to do a porno with sarah palin. i'd call it "nailin palin"

@67 - ha ha! Oh, that's rich. "Egalitarian society" is how you couch socialism? How's it working in Venezuela? North Korea? Cuba? How'd it do in the former USSR? "Egalitarian" indeed.

No, what is frightening about the prospect of an Obama Administration is his wealth redistribution plan and stated position to raise taxes on wage earners. That's what Hoover did in response to the '29 crash, and most experts point to his decisions as worsening an already bad situation. So I hope everyone runs to the polls with their boners flying to vote for Obama. I will be one of the ones getting his tax "break," and am well-positioned to take advantage of the coming economic disaster.

Excuse me, but Hoover raised taxes because they were cut dramatically under Republican Coolidge's administration. Coolidge "looked the other way" during the 20's at the growing alarm over the impending stock market problems. He ignored very important and serious issues that led to the Great Depression. Keep in mind that Republian President Hoover was elected in '28, when false optimism was riding high -- optimism encouraged by Coolidge. They were both wrong. The Stock Market Crash in late 1929 proved that, dramatically.

Obama is NOT a socialist. For Pete's sake; the next thing McCain/Palin will accuse him of is being is a space alien.

Tina Fey.... Aww Yeeaahhh!!!

Wow..., she is pretty and gorgeous. BTW, my brother told me he saw her profile and photos at an age gap dating club **AgelessOnly.c o m**. She has written some blogs a few days ago. Maybe you should have a look.

..."The reigning queen of comedy and hot mamacita extraordinaire Tina Fey"?!?!? What???- YUCK, NO

... Well, I mean if you're into that crooked jigsaw puzzle face look, then I guess she's hot. I for one am not- Peace Out Neggro's

Obama 08!
