Getting a gender change operation is not "picking and choosing one's gender" and it's not the same thing as being gay.

Let's do a visualizing exercise (don't worry, imagining it won't make it real, for all you 'righteous' ones out there)... imagine being just as you are (mentally, emotionally, attracted to the same gender as you are now, etc) but with the other gender's physicality. I know I would be traumatized if I mentally and emotionally identified as a woman, but had a guy's body...

And, it's not an impulsive decision... they go through rigirous mental evaluations (that sometimes take years) to identify whether they truly are trapped in the wrong gender's body and are eligible for operation.

How many of the people complaining about a transgendered person being on ANTM actually watch the show? Is this just one of those "These people shouldn't be publicized" arguments, or "How is Tyra going to comment about Isis' manliness without appearing 'insensitive'" arguments, or what? In other words, of all the "offensive" crap on television that you might or might not be viewing, or even letting "the precious children" view, why this cycle of ANTM? Like that show has a history of being family-friendly (if you're going to use those standards to measure it)?

And to be honest, who cares if you like/don't like transgendered people? Or even if you think they are "immoral?" I've yet to hear a convincing argument for that stance--the "My God said they ain't right, boy, go git mah gun" camp doesn't count. Because anything can be proven/disproven when something as unsubstantiated as "God" is thrown in as a means of verification. It's such a copout to even use that supposed logic--just say you don't like something because you don't like it, and people wouldn't be able to argue the point because it's your opinion. I don't think that gay/ transgender people want you to find them "normal" because they want you to accept other people's differences ( I don't think they care that much). I think they want to "change" your views because its views like yours that lead people to make statements like "gays shouldn't have children" or "gays shouldn't be in the military". Unfortunately, you have the power to decide these things. The reason, I think, that gays/ transgender" are "shoving their views/lifestyles" down people's throats is because they realize how much is at stake. To you, "understanding" or learning about homosexuality/transgenderism is just an intellectual exercise or constructive debate, but to them its reality. They know you have the ability to limit their rights, so its in their best interest for you to find them "normal". This may seem like a cliche, but whats normal and whats natural are pretty subjective. You threw out science as a way of validating why homosexuality is abnormal. That's a pretty meaningless argument to me. But obviously not to you. You state that you've educated yourself about the "topic" but does this education actually include forming relationships with gay/transgender people or talking to children whose parents are gay? Because I know quite a few of these people, and they are all happy, well adjusted, and normal people. Sorry about the long post.
P.S. I don't think anyone here has stated that you should be tolerant of all beliefs. I think most people agree (consciously, or at least intuitively) that its counterproductive to be tolerant of intolerant beliefs. What they are asking for is empathy.

I was just using science to direct my argument towards the people who only respond to hard evidence, and science. I don't feel as passionate about the science side than I made out, it was just to emphasis my point.
So yeah I'm not very comfortably with homosexuality on a whole, but to the individual I don't care at all. I also get annoyed at gay rights people who push for a certain quota to be fulfilled in the media, all that causes is the prevalence of a 'token' character and nothing genuine at all.

Going through an operation such as that requires the consent of a an individual who can speak for themselves. Under traditional definitions of consent, a horse is non-consenting. Normal isn't really subjective, normal is a trait or behavior the majority of the population have or do. You say that applying the term marriage to a gay "union" would change the meaning. But why exactly? To me marriage is about love and support. If a gay couple who love and support each other join in this kind of partnership, to me, its just enhances the meaning of marriage, celebrating it, not changing it. If we are essentially defining the same relationship, the same kind of love, why have a different term?The narrow "qualifications" or confines you put on marriage worry me a bit, because its like turning into an exclusive club. And I'm not ok with that. Marriage and love should be about inclusitivity, not exclusivity. You write that your not comfortable with all the "issues" surrounding homosexuals. I don't think I'll burn in hell for something I can't control. "well you could just marry a women and have a normal life" some of you might say... well, let me tell you that many men and women do this and they end up cheating with other gay people. and cheating is also a sin; other get so depressed that they commit suicide, which is also a death sin. The suicide rate in gay people is far higher that on straight people. And yes, there's gay animals and some animals like dolphins and primates have sex for pleasure, not only for having children.
My personal hypothesis -which I want to investigate in the next years- is that as the human beings have overpopulated the planet, mother nature -evolution, call it how you like it- has created gay people in higher rates in order to control this overpopulation. Maybe God made gay people so that so many orphan kids have parents. I personally don't trust in a bible that has been truly modified by many people. It's a fact. Constantine the Great changed it to fit some believes and festivities of his pagan kingdom, so it would be easier for them to adopt Christianity.

But I agree that being gay it's not normal. I think being normal is subjective because it depends on the culture in which you grew up. If an american party girl that wears high heels and miniskirts goes to an Arab country she would be a total freak. That's not normal there. But my point is that in the western culture, yeah, being gay is not normal. Maybe in Castro, San Francisco, but hey, "normal" it's just an adjective, it doesn't make you a better person. It just means that you are different. and if you look at all the successful people, all of them are not normal; otherwise they wouldn't have stand out.

i dissagree with the person who said that most negro women look like transvestites,I think that 90%white american women look so much like transvestites and thats without make up.i agree that some black women with a lot of makeup and thin eyebrows do look like transvestites and i quote only with lots of makeup on,and just because we age so beautifully we dont need makeup,so thats why when we do wear it it makes us look so unnatural.
