Okay, remember when Amy Winehouse's dad Mitch said she has emphysema and was going to die? Well, he might have embellished things a bit. Turns out Amy has "low level signs" of the disease. But it's technically not emphysema and the damage is reversible - if she quits smoking. So, perhaps Mitch was getting a preemptive jump on when she'll have it. My money's on July. Anyway, here's what he told BBC Radio:
"Amy really hasn't got emphysema, there's traces of emphysema. Obviously, if she doesn't quit smoking, it's going to get worse, like everyone else ... with patience her lungs will recover completely."
So essentially, Amy has the same predisposition to emphysema as any other smoker. Real smooth, Mitch. Way to cry wolf on that one. Now nobody's going to believe you when Amy gets so freaking high next week, she travels through a wormhole to become the queen of Reverse Earth and collapses the entire space/time continuum. Oh, that's great, Mitch. Just great. Call me old-fashioned, but I'm sort of attached to, oh I dunno, EXISTING. Goddammit, I knew that beehive was no good. I could tell by the way it's always looking at me no matter where I'm standing...

well, if you know anything about lung functioning, the 'emphysema' diagnosis was total BS from the start. its not something you 'catch', and it takes a lot, lot lot of smoking to develop, no 24 year old could have full blown emphysema no matter how much they have smoked, unless they were just smoking pure tar off the road.
the reason she is collapsing, with an out of control heart rate, coughing up blood, her body unable to repair wounds and heal properly, and all of her other health problems are because she is only taking in drugs, and no food. even if she kept up her insane levels of drug consumption, she would be much better off if she just ate. what is her problem here, she's got enough money to have all the crack she wants and plenty of take-out too. but if all you're getting is the crack, your body breaks down and dies. this girl is a short ways off from major organ failure, there is no need to exaggerate any of her other problems. she needs to eat, several times per day, every day, from now on. if she does that she'll be fine, smoking or not smoking, drugs or no drugs. if she doesn't she will die. soon.

I like Amy Winehouse, too, but have doubts about her sobriety, no matter what her PR pimps and whores tell us. Amy was shoved in the hospital, hosed down, mildly detoxed, fed and made to sleep, so she can be April fresh for the Mandela show. BTW, she did the same for the Grammys.

this is a very beautiful young (24) woman who we can all see the effects of major drug use and as said above -she needs to eat! Healthy organic veggies & fruits! Otherwise, we are going to lose an amazing part of musical history.
