Jun 18 2008Lindsay Lohan pulls a 'Heigl,' drops out of Emmy race

Lindsay Lohan will not enter this year's Emmy awards. She appeared on Ugly Betty briefly this season, but the LA Times reports Lindsay decided to hold off until next year's Emmy competition when she'll have more episodes under her belt. Also, Lindsay didn't want to compete with Britney for the Holy Shit Did Our Show Really Need Ratings award:

Lohan didn't submit herself for contention in the guest race because "the appearance was brief," notes her rep Leslie Sloane. "We made a decision to wait."
Next TV season Lohan will appear in at least six episodes of "Betty" and will get more face time than she did in her debut appearance last month. In the season finale she uttered only four lines in a scene less than a minute long as she invited Betty Suares (America Ferrera) to play dodge ball with her team.

Before everyone freaks out over these photos, Lindsay is not pregnant. But her character is in her new movie Labor Pains. Which is obviously a sci-fi flick about the first flame-retardant baby. "He survived the delivery. But can he survive love?" *cue "Under Pressure" by Queen*

Jun 12 2008Britney Spears eligible for an Emmy? Game Over, world

Thumbnail image for 0513_britney_spears_himym2_05.jpg

While Katherine Heigl is saying "I hate my career!" to the Emmy's, Britney Spears, of all people, is eligible for the coveted award for her cameos on How I Met Your Mother. What the super motherfucking fuck? Excuse me while I cut my cable and hide under the coffee table. OK! Magazine reports:

For her double-shot guest appearance as Abby on CBS hit How I Met Your Mother, Brit-Brit is one of 41 actresses on the official ballot released by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences to its voters. Keep in mind, this is the list that is whittled down to the final nominees for the September ceremony.

If Britney Spears garners an Emmy nod, that's it. I'm switching to one of those TV's on the Flintstones with the parrot inside. Parrot, meet TiVo. TiVo, meet parrot. Okay, now I feel better about what's going to happen next: Component or HDMI, Polly? Coaxial?! Naugh-ty...

Jun 12 2008Katherine Heigl doesn't want to get 'knocked up' with an Emmy (Like the movie!)

Katherine Heigl won for Best Supporting Actress in a drama (Grey's Anatomy) at last year's Emmy awards, but this year, she doesn't think she's worthy. And she ain't bullshitting. Katherine declined to even put her name down for a nomination bid. The AP reports:

"I did not feel that I was given the material this season to warrant an Emmy nomination and in an effort to maintain the integrity of the academy organization" decided against competing, Heigl said in a written statement provided by her publicist, Melissa Kates, who was contacted by the AP.
"In addition, I did not want to potentially take away an opportunity from an actress who was given such materials," added Heigl.

Okay, I can understand modesty, but I'm pretty sure Katherine Heigl just pissed in the faces of her show's writers. That's nice. I look forward to this season's premiere when her character becomes a paraplegic coke mule that steals babies and eventually dies from the Ebola virus - during the opening credits. Grey's Anatomy: don't miss it!
