Sep 14 2009Kate Gosselin isn't paid enough

Seen here outside her hotel this afternoon, Kate Gosselin filmed her first episode as a guest host on The View and took that opportunity to whine about how much money she makes. Via People:

In response to Behar's question about how she could place her life in front of TV cameras, Gosselin said it was a different story for the first five seasons. Things were "innocent." Now, however, things can't stop, she said - and, as a single mother, she needs the paycheck.
"Do they pay you enough?" asked Behar.
"Is anybody paid enough?" answered Gosselin.

At a minimum of $75,000 per episode which you film at least 20 of a season, I'd say, "Yes, Kate, you are." But then again I understand all children need a million dollar mansion and a never-ending stream of free gifts from advertisers to survive. And now with the divorce you only get half that much, a paltry $750,000 a year, so talk about adversity. I don't even know how you get out of bed in the morning. (Not counting the team of illegal immigrant nannies who carry you to the kitchen by rickshaw.)

Aug 26 2009Kate Gosselin to guest host The View. Of course.

While Elisabeth Hasselbeck takes her maternity leave, The View finds itself lacking an opinionated, WASP who thinks birthing children makes them an expert on pretty much everything. Enter Kate Gosselin. According to the AP, The Porcupined One will guest host two days in September.

I have to say this for Kate Gosselin: Years from now, when she has no money to put her kids through college, she'll at least be able to hang her head up high and say "Goddamn, that publicist was worth every penny." These moments will help her soldier through the grim reality of sharing custody with a man who lives in a Porsche between cooking shifts at Hooters. (I'm calling it.)

Apr 30 2008Tyra Banks gets her own holiday, you still have to work

Tyra Banks celebrates her 500th episode of The Tyra Banks Show today. She stopped by The View (video after the jump) to announce that Mayor Bloomberg has officially proclaimed today "The Tyra Banks Show Day." Sadly, it's not a national holiday and I should probably stop downing this champagne. But it's so bubbly! Anyway, while on The View, Tyra weighed in (Pun intended.) on the Miley Cyrus debacle:

"She is a 15-year-old, and I just wish everybody would leave her alone! It was just a little sexy."

Wow. Tyra Banks on The View discussing Miley Cyrus. It's almost like the producers over there want to beat us senseless with excitement. I'm pretty sure I have a black eye. No, wait, that's when I popped the cork on this champagne. *chugs* I like it when it tickles my nose who wants to go to the strip club and then we'll nachos with the car drive I'm okay. CAPTAIN KIRK!

Apr 18 2008Jenna Jameson on The View? Wow, really?

Thanks to pioneers like Kim Kardashian, porn stars are now considered legitimate guests on The View. This trailblazing led to the most awkward, surreal, WTF interview I've ever seen when Jenna Jameson appeared on yesterday's show (video after the jump). It's almost like inviting a hooker over to your house to meet your mom, grandmom and your uptight Republican sister who's head's about to explode. OMG what if Jesus is watching?! Fortunately, there's the calm watchful eye of Whoopi Goldberg. She doesn't say much, but you know she'll throw them old bitches down if shit gets out of hand. I've seen Sister Act 1 AND 2. Trust me, you don't fuck with the Whoop.

Oct 24 2007Jessica Simpson to co-host The View

1024_jessica_simpson_legs_00.jpg

Jessica Simpson will co-host The View while Elisabeth Hasslebeck is on maternity leave, according to ET Online:

JESSICA SIMPSON is set to sit in with the ladies of "The View" this November when she spends two days as a guest host. The actress and singer will guest-host on the ABC daytime talker on November 15 and 16.

I understand that part of The View’s appeal is that a cute, ditzy blonde is one of the hosts. That’s just smart television. But, Jessica Simpson? Don’t you think that’s a tad overboard? Poor Barbara Walters is probably spinning in her grave.

Edit: Turns out Barbara Walters is still alive. So, what? She can’t spin in a grave? Why? Because she’s a woman? Geez, sexist much?

Aug 1 2007Whoopi Goldberg to join The View

whoopi-goldberg-the-view.jpg

Not that anybody cares, but Barbara Walters officially announced today that Whoopi Goldberg has been signed on to replace Rosie O'Donnell has co-host of The View. She'll start co-hosting the day after Labor Day.

I guess this was a fitting choice. How else are you supposed to know how hip and progressive the show is unless they hire a minority? And if you want to know what the show will be like in the fall, gather up a group of white women at your office and one black woman, then have them repeatedly kick you in the nuts while screaming. Ahh, who needs TV?
