Feb 7 2008Kim Kardashian could've avoided lawsuit

R&B singer Brandy's mom Sonja Norwood claims Kim Kardashian used her credit card to rack up a $120,000 bill in 2006 and 2007. Sonja explains to People why she waited until now to sue Kim:
"I did not want to commence litigation against the Kardashian family without conducting an exhaustive investigation into the charges and discussing all options, including criminal prosecution, with my family."
Brandy's mom also gave Kim and her siblings the opportunity to settle the matter out of court:
"After Ray J and Brandy urged me not to file criminal charges because of their prior friendship, I decided to afford the Kardashians an opportunity to resolve this matter without a lawsuit," Norwood said. "When the fraudulent charges were brought to their attention, they apologized profusely, and advised us, through their attorneys, that they would pay the debt in full. However, they have since reneged on that promise."
To be honest, I could care less how this situation turns out. I just wanted an excuse to post pics of Kim Kardashian's astronomical backyard. Colleagues say I'm like a modern-day Walter Cronkite. You know, if he wasn't afraid of the Internet and played Edward Forty-hands everyday at lunch. If you'll excuse me, I need to run out and buy some duct tape and Old E. That counts as a business expense, right? I'm writing it off anyway. If you work for the IRS, pretend you didn't just read that.
Feb 5 2008Brandy's mom sues Kim Kardashian

R&B singer Brandy’s mom Sonja Norwood claims that she gave her credit card to Kim Kardashian so she could make “one (and only one)” purchase. Kim was Brandy’s stylist at the time. However, according to Sonja, Kim went crazy with the card then let her family take it for a spin. TMZ reports:
According to the suit, Kim allegedly gave the card to other members of her family -- Khloe, Kourtney and Robert Jr. The suit claims in 2006, the Ks racked up $62,793.83 in unauthorized charges. And, in 2007, they blew another $57,841.82. The total: $120,635.65!
And get this for audacity: the suit claims the Kardashians charged thousands of dollars in their own stores, Dash and Smooch.
It's unclear why Sonja didn't just cancel the card.
So the Kardashians had the card in 2006 and 2007, but Sonja didn't cancel it? That makes total sense. Whenever my credit card gets stolen by strippers (God, they're crafty.), I always sit around for a year or two before I cancel it. Mostly because they threaten to come to my house and rip up my comic books. I really need to stop wearing my Spider-man pajamas to the nudie bar...
Dec 26 2007Brandy may not be a murderer
R&B singer Brandy has yet to be charged with vehicular manslaughter from her December 2006 crash that left a woman dead. Apparently, the delay is because authorities have evidence that conclude Brandy may not have been the one at fault. The California Highway Patrol shared some of this information with TMZ that puts the situation in a new light:
A CHP source tells TMZ the woman who died in the car accident involving Brandy actually struck the vehicle in front of her before Brandy made any contact. The law enforcement source says Awatef Aboudihaj, the woman who died, struck the car in front of her -- which was going 65 mph, and then slammed on her brakes. We're told the sudden stop caused Brandy to hit the dead woman's car.
The woman also had traces of marijuana in her system, according to the LA County Coroner. The city has until Friday to file charges against Brandy before the statute of limitations runs out, but it will be next to impossible to prove negligence on Brandy’s part. Wow, way to dodge a legal bullet by actually being innocent. I usually just flee to Mexico. It gives me an excuse to get out of the house and really find myself (i.e. drink tequila out of a sombrero).
