Not everyone who aborts a pregnancy has a shitty reason for it. Maybe some of them, but who can say what's a good reason or not? I had an abortion once, after I was married. I was on birth control and it still happened. I didn't miss a pill or anything. Not even one. Not ever. I might have kept the baby, but I'm a schizophrenic. I'm pretty well balanced on the meds right now but they seem to not work sometimes. I thought about it really hard and when it came right down to it, keeping the baby would have been wrong. They say I likely inherited the disease from my mother and I might have passed it on. Living life like this barely can be called living. I spend my entire life feeling things that my loved ones have to explain to me aren't true. Sometimes what they say makes sense and sometimes it doesn't. I spent the short time of my pregnancy catatonic most of the time, or so my husband tells me, laying on the floor because I'd scream when he tried to put me into bed. I don't remember that part. All I really remember is that I felt like there was an infection eating me all up and not even my religious upbringing could save me from it. I thought about how god was watching me and judging the way I hated my husband so much for infecting me. Hey, maybe god is still pissed at me but I don't regret killing that tiny group of undifferentiated cells because a baby wouldn't have been safe with me and I couldn't have ever felt ok again if I'd given it away to someone else and it had lived it's life like I do. I made my decision before that piece of news about the decapitation came out but I remember reading it and feeling a little better. It's a terrible story obviously and a tragedy, but there was a short time where I wondered if maybe a baby might have been safe around me. But I know that I sometimes have really bad ideas that I can't get out of my head and it would have been unfair to bring a child into it. My husband came into my life knowing what he was getting into and loving me anyway, a baby would have no choice. The times I've hurt my husband, he's been able to protect himself.
