Apr 21 2009Miss California defends herself on Today Show

Miss California Carrie Prejain who claimed marriage should only be between a man and a woman during the Miss USA pageant - with Perez Hilton as one of the judges - stopped by The Today Show where Matt Lauer gave her a chance to revise her answer. Here's what she said:
"The way that I answered might have been offensive ... but for me, it was being biblically correct."
Unfortunately for Miss Prejean, mixing various fabrics together is forbidden in the book of Leviticus which means her entire pageant gown is biblically incorrect. Sorry, but Jesus says I have to stone you. Now, smile!

I feel that such as many Americans are like, such as the gays and for example, the map of the world and such as the bible says so.
I'll bet you a hundred bucks her lil man in the canoe was rocked by Miss New York. She's too embarrassed to admit it.
2. Miss California - April 21, 2009 10:38 AM
I want world peace, too. But only for everyone who believes in the Bible.

You don't get an opinion until you are forty.
4. dirk - April 21, 2009 10:39 AM
California voters voted against gay marriage. Sorry. Why are the libs so intent on demonizing her? It's her opinion. NBC now has a political test as part of winning? You have to agree with the libs or you can't win. FU.

9. Donkey Dongey Dong - April 21, 2009 10:45 AM
Ugh...the liberals and that stupid Mexican fruit, Perez Hilton, were ripping her on TV. Please...she was asked a question and she answered it honestly unlike most of the bimbos on that show. Kudos to her for having the balls to say what she means.
The fruitcakes are really getting out of hand lately...
10. JENIPURRR - April 21, 2009 10:45 AM
First off, who cares what she thinks...but its unfair to throw shit at her because she stated her opinion. So she thinks its wrong, who cares. I dont care...she doesn't matter in the long run... would it have been better that she lied? The beauty is that you can say your opinion in this country, even if it makes you look like a ignorant bitch.

12. Thinking it through - April 21, 2009 10:46 AM
The point of the Q&A is to answer a question in an intellegent manner, and be clear and concise in your response. She sounded like an idiot. She didn't need to be politically correct, jsut coherent. She can whine all she wants now that she lost for expressing her christian beliefs, but she lost because her public speaking skills suck. She could have said: "I understand that America is very divided on this subject. Each person has to reconcile their own opinion with their beliefs and values. I personally do not support same sex marriage, it is not something that my Christian beliefs can support." She could have even said that the role of Miss USA should not be politicized and abstained from asking the question. But she bumbled around too much "SUCH AS..."
13. norton - April 21, 2009 10:47 AM
Statistics vary widely, but Census information states that 1.5% of the US population is gay/lesbian/bi.
Even if you use the gay derived 10% they are still a minority.
Regardless, this was her opinion and nothing else. She's entitled to that opinion, folks, just like gays are entitled to their opinions.
Don't beat this girl up for her beliefs, and nobody will beat you up for yours.

Its not her views that get me going, its how horrifically unintelligently she expressed them. These poor women don't even know how to be articulate on the spot! What an ignoramus!

"matt louer gave her a chance to revise her answer"....
Why should she have to? It's her opinion. Should she have lied and came up with something politically correct to say so she could be cozy with PEREZ HILTON????? Although I don't agree with her, kudos for being honest and sticking to her beliefs.
21. Humpin frog - April 21, 2009 10:52 AM
Perez Hilton is an asshat of biblical proportion. I wish she had just kicked his teeth in and said, "I think that answers your question".

32. missywissy - April 21, 2009 11:00 AM
FYI SUPERFICIAL writer: Jesus said "let he who has not sinned cast the first stone".
That is so stupid for you to talk about a religion when you don't know what the hell you're talking about. With all the Jesus remarks you make, it's so obvious you not only believe in Christ, you feel it is your DUTY to mock him. Why?
33. jrc1179 - April 21, 2009 11:00 AM
Good for her!!! I wish more people in this country had the guts that she has. This country is becoming a bunch of PC everybody has to feel good PUSSIES!!!! In life there are winners and losers. Who gives a flying F what this cunny thinks?
We as Americans know how intolerant we are to anything outside of the Christian belief system. Should we have expected anything else from a vapid "beauty pageant" contestent like her?
Baby steps America. An African American President is enough for one year. We can't be expected to have two open minded people running our country, can we? And yes, besides the Commander-in-Chief, Ms USA is our greatest export to the rest of the world.

39. The only straight Christian on this page who understands their religion and the world. - April 21, 2009 11:04 AM
It is in fact wrong to go out and say you are against gays.
The bible tells to be accepting of all people, regardless of their beliefs or who they are.
It is okay to think it is wrong, and not partake in being gay yourself, but it is wrong to actively go out and put it down and or avoid, or not accept the gay community.
Talking to a gay will not make you gay, nor will it make God feel less of you, rather, God will be more accepting of you, for accepting his creations, regardless of how they turned out.
Another point is, is that there is hardly anything against gays in the bible, like, maybe two things, as a matter of fact. And anything that may sound like it is, is taken out of context, referring to father and son or pedophilia, not being gay.
A final point is that, this day in age, gay marriage is not merely about religion. It has become a social custom and has far too many laws involved in it for it to be a religious thing. Atheists and people of religions that don't define a marriage get married every day.
Also, according to the bible, marriage, not only between man and woman, is about raising a child. Many people who are not able to have children, or don't plan to have or even adopt get married every day. Why? Because it's against religion? No. Because it's a social custom and because of the hundreds of laws involved are to their benefit.
Gay marriage is not a problem, it's that people do not understand their religion or the world.
Not accepting the gay community, or any community for that matter is only going to bring you down in the end.
40. Jrz - April 21, 2009 11:05 AM

43. libtastic - April 21, 2009 11:09 AM
People have the right to be ignorant if they want. That's why ALL marriages should be deemed civil unions in the eyes of government, with no distinction between who enters into the civil union. Let the individual churches decide who gets to call their union a marriage and let individuals decide which churches they want to support. The government should stay out of the marriage business altogether. End of story.
44. Joey - April 21, 2009 11:09 AM

miss usa is supposed to be a role model and answering a question in such a disrespectful way is not what makes a good role model.
the way she answered the question shows that she does not respect others beliefs that do not meet her own and is not a tolerant person
it is ok to disagree it is ok to not believe that gays should be married. but it is not ok to display intolerance in such a disrespectful manor
that is why she lost

Ass clowns...
56. KittenPuncher - April 21, 2009 11:20 AM
@52. Much like the Indians and their devotion to the cow, the UK used to view donkeys in much the same fashion. So to this day they still do not like referencing the word "ass" as it is disrepectful to the donkey. Hence why the word evloved into "arse".
True story.

Offensive? Hardly. I don't like women with visible ribcages. Politically incorrect? Maybe. Do I give a rat's ass? No. Would it cost me in a beauty pagent? I wouldn't make it past my front door. La de da. She thinks marriage is for men & women only. What's the problem? It's her right as a hot American to feel how she wants.

Serves Perez right for asking a question with a political agenda. Usually, those questions for beauty pageants are open-ended with no-right or wrong answer. Obvious in the mind of Perez there was a right answer and he wanted her to give that answer.
Guess what, opinions are like assholes, everyone's got one and you probably don't want to go anywhere near it.
If you're going to use the pageant for as a political soap box, don't be upset that someone else has a different opinion.

#39 You're sort of missing the point. Miss CA can interpret it however she wishes, because thankfully the Bible isn't the source of our laws (we're not burning witches, sacrificing animals and putting adulterers to death). Good thing, too, because within its covers you will find a supporting and a contractory argument for just about every modern law on the books, so it's not exactly helpful as a legislative roadmap. Use it a personal code of conduct and a guide to your faith as much you wish, I personally hope it brings you great joy, inspiration and solace.
But when you use it to try to prevent anyone in this country from having the same civil rights and due process you do because they don't look, believe, think or fuck just like you do, I'll make you eat it.

"she was asked a question and she answered it honestly "
Yeah, I don't know how to break this to you, but "being honest about your bigotry", while admirable, is not really a quality one looks for in anyone in an ambassadorial role.
Her opinion is that gays shouldn't be allowed to marry. Our opinion, and apparenlty the judges opinion is that opinion makes her a filthy f*ckstain. We're both entitled to our opinions, what's the problem?
You think she's entitled to win or something? Despite any opinion she might have? Honesty is the only criterion? So if she honestly answered "I plan to make a porn movie with midgets as soon as I'm crowned" that wouldn't be grounds for docking her points?
Don't be stupid
It's just that she was docked points for holding the same opinion as you, and you don't like the fact that people dislike you for your opinions.
Get over it you baby.

There are alot of idiots on here that fail to see the point of all this. That girl got up on stage and said she believes that marriage should be between a man and woman, but that wasnt the question. She was asked if all states should follow in the steps of Vermont making same sex marriages legal.
The States that have chosen this did this for political reasons and to improve the quality of life for same sex couples in this country not because the liberals are trying to slap all Bible believers in the face!
This wasnt the place for her to spout her beliefs, but to say what she felt about the politics of this country which is based on the separation of church and state, and obiviously she and her "this is what I belive" statement failed to do the job.
Some of you dummies need to get some edjumacation before you go opening your mouths.

I am trying to figure out why Perez Hilton is not taking more heat for asking such a divisive and politically charged question. Clearly, he had an agenda. In my book, that was totally unfair to the one contestant asked that question. Perez needs to apologize to her for that alone, regardless of what her answer was. She did not deserve to be put on the spot in that way, in that forum. IT is a beauty and scholarship pageant for hell's sakes. PH needs to apologize to her, but he won't. He's way too arrogant and full of himself. And no, I am not talking about the fact he swallows his own jizz.
98. Alex - April 21, 2009 12:11 PM
Why is it OK for some people to speak their mind, ie gays, but when someone feels differently, there is an uproar? She can think whatever she likes, freedom of speech. If I agree with her or not, she can say what she wants. What the fuck is this, Nazi Germany? I mean, look at this board? Saying horrible things about those who believe the Bible. That is OK but saying what she thinks is somehow a different story? Our country is headed for ruin, for those who think they are so open minded are only so when the mind suits them and their way of life.
99. missywissy - April 21, 2009 12:14 PM
I'm lost. I thought this was America and EVERYONE had a right to their own way of thinking. Something I have noticed is the folks in here that are anti-religion seem so upset and uneasy. Why would you be if you are comfortable with your beliefs? Christianity is here to stay in every form it comes in. Just because one believes in the Bible or the teachings of Christ doesn't make them perfect, nor should they have to strive for that. You nonbelievers like to force that thought on the ones who do believe. Believers of Christ tend to go with what's in their heart, sometimes even if it seems "against" the Bible. The only thing wrong with that are these athiests holding every Christian to every standard in the Bible. Do you atheists live your life in a black and white view? Do you all stick to your principles no matter who or what? Our core beliefs are based on the Bible and God tells us his will by giving us that gut feeling, natural instinct, heavy heart, a "little birdie" whispering in our ear, whatever you want to call it. You all are the only ones talking about people going to hell because we didn't follow something from the Bible that YOU are holding us to. Personally, I think a lot of what it talks about is impossilbe to hold true to this day (i.e. how to treat your slaves). However, a lot can be applied to today. Maybe this is picking and choosing, but if we all were born with the exact same brain and spiritual needs, we could all just be the same and follow the exact same beliefs. He didn't want us all to be the same. Most dads create their children for their pleasure and to keep family going. Each child in a person's family is unique and different. We are expected to follow our parent's rules and do what's right. God wants us to talk to him and communicate to him just as our parents want to hear from us and we want to hear from our own kids. It's nobody's business how well you all get along with your parents and it's nobody's business our relationship with our father. I wouldn't tell you " your dad told you not to say this or do that" and that's exactly what you tell Christians when you say "you're going to hell for that". If that were true, everyone would go to hell because nobody is perfect and we all have different sides to us. Hey athiests: quit holding us to higher standards than we hold ourselves. Trying to win people away from Christ isn't the way to go.

Apparently, freedom of speech only applies to those who tow the liberal agenda line.
It's okay to bash a Christian, but don't speak ill of the gay. What a sad world we live in.

My original post was #39, please read, all.
To #69 - yes, you may interpret the Bible as you wish, however, it is NOT meant to be taken out of context. Taking something out of context is NOT interpretation, it is stupidity.
And even so, accepting others despite their lifestyle or beliefs is a much bigger part to they bible than is anything that may be seen as being against homosexuality. So, how's that to be misinterpreted? "Oh, I'll just pick and choose from the bible that which is barely mentioned and taken out of context, rather than things that have more part in the bible, I'm sure God will just love that."
Everyone should be free to live their lives as they please, so long as it does not interfere with the quality of another person's life.

the government should be concerned with political and religious views.
beauty queens should be concerned with looking pretty and keeping their opinions on maps, baking, and world peace.
simple as that.
you dont represent the united states by alienating one of its larger minority groups by saying its a choice and you dont believe in it.
Bitch didn't even deserve runner up.
108. justifiable - April 21, 2009 12:26 PM
#98 Go right ahead and voice your opinion, it is your right. Btw, freedom of speech means under the 1st Amendment the government can't tell you to STFU. I'd never say horrible things about you because you believe in the Bible, I'd say horrible things about people who actively use it to create a second class of citizens in this country -- where we're all supposed to be equal under the law.
Claiming the right to free speech - and then using that right to call for a curtailment of the rights of others is really sheer douchebaggery, but WTF, right?
Sort of like wanting to be Miss USA - but only representing those US citizens who think like you do.
109. The Listener - April 21, 2009 12:26 PM
Strange world. There was a time when a person who believed according to the Bible was admired for his/her high moral standards. Today, if you state your belief in a Bible principle, you're boo'd and criticized, and put in the category of a racist.
It just goes to show you. If personal freedom is limited by Bible principle, people are willing to ignore the Bible so they can do what they want when they want without feeling any guilt.

111. Heidi French - April 21, 2009 12:26 PM
She missed the point. No one is saying that she can't have her opinion. She could have said for me personally I feel blah blah blah but I do believe that the each state should be allowed to choose for themselves. The rest is rhetoric. No says you can't stand by you and you 'god', just give every one the same opportunity.
Hell I'm not even gay and I was offended. Yet another reason I'm proud to be Canadian.
112. Deva - April 21, 2009 12:26 PM
This is pretty frustrating. So she comes out and says marriage should be for a man and a woman; so what? That is her opinion and she's entitled to it. But what could you expect seeing she's from California. All too often you can hear the fegs saying how marriage should be equal, blah blah blah. And that's ok. But then a hetero comes out and says their feelings on marriage and they are racists, heathens, homophobes, whatever.
Last time I checked we were still a free country.
113. KittenPuncher - April 21, 2009 12:29 PM

114. duh - April 21, 2009 12:29 PM
She's "Miss California." She represents California. Prop 8 went 52% to 48% for a state constitutional amendment to restrict legal marriage to opposite-sex couples, with an 80% voter turnout. She should have said her answer was correct from the perspective of American democracy. The losers in any election or referendum are free to whine all they want afterward, but by definition we don't need to "respect" their opinions by agreeing with them.
115. rocket2 - April 21, 2009 12:31 PM

#109 its because the people who founded this country left europe to escape religious persecution.
Now in this country founded on the belief that you should practice what you believe and still be seen equal as your American neighbor, People are speaking out against the god given rights of human equality in the name of their religion. its a cluster fuck of contradiction.
117. PunkA - April 21, 2009 12:31 PM
I had no idea that Miss USA represented me, a dude who can not gain entry into a beauty pageant, now would want to. I thought she represented the pageant system. Seriously, you are trying to say Miss USA, someone chosen by a few jaded voters represents the nation? That is hilarious. Of course, I do understand that many gay men live vicariously through the pageant "princess" dream, but they need to get a grip. We just want her to look hot, not be completely stupid, and then entertain us. Dancing monkeys, that is all they are. But with more silicone.

120. Matrim - April 21, 2009 12:35 PM
Ok, I have no problem with people speaking their minds, but they also have to understand that if I find their opinion to be incorrect (or, worse, repugnant), I will voice MY opinions in turn. Just because someone is allowed to say what they want doesn't give them a pass for reactions to that opinion. You are welcome to express any sort of view (sexist, racist, etc), but you'll have to deal with the repercussions of your opinions. Consequently, when someone publicly states that they are opposed to loving people being recognized by the state because their Bronze Age book of myths tells them it's wrong (with no never-mind to some of the less convenient rules like eating shellfish, shaving, or blending fibers), I'm going point out that they are fucked up. Sorry, that's how it goes.
121. Obama Khan - April 21, 2009 12:36 PM
Why are some people so afraid of her opinion? If more young woman followed the faith of their mothers and fathers, instead of mocking it 24/7, would this really be a worse-off world? Good for her, she's brave, considering the same attack machine that savaged Sarah P. is still out there...waiting...
122. Fat Chicks Suck - April 21, 2009 12:37 PM
This chick is super hot and it's ridiculous she lost simply for honestly answering a question. It's an issue the country is divided on and it probably shouldn't have been asked in the first place. Sure I disagree with her opinion but that doesn't make her wrong in this instance. It's so ridiculous how stuff like this gets blown out of proportion. You have to tippy toe around every controversial topic to avoid having half of the country hate you - it's beyond stupid.
Lucky for her she's hot as fuck and this will provide her with her 15 minutes. She'll probably end up more famous than if she would have won.
Man are beauty pageants dumb. I love the hot, young, skinny girls...but the whole concept is hilarious. They don't even air Miss Teen USA on TV anymore and with stupidity like this it won't be long before they all completely fade away. The last "event" is asking confident, naive girls with little common sense stupid, pointless questions that they are expected to dance around and not give a straight answer.
I'd say it's about time we just draw a black line through that "freedom of speech" nonsense.

Like...

If you were a lip gloss flavor, what flavor would it be? (and you know half would say, "Um...pink!"
126. mike - April 21, 2009 12:43 PM
Because it's a retarded pageant, the criticism was that she was spouting her personal religious beliefs instead of being a proper "representative" of California. Unfortunately she compound that by her religious reference on the Today Show. But, in reality, the flamers who run and judge the pageant should be required to provide evidence that her viewpoint was not representative. Good luck - not just in California, but in other states gay marriage has been voted down repeatedly and routinely fails to get a majority in opinion polls. There's never been a majority that wants gay marriage legalized. The protesters don't want democracy, obviously. They want a victory regardless of how the majority of citizens feel. That 's why they're going to the courts now. But it all boils down to this: do you, as a state citizen, want your state tax money and property rights to be distributed in a way that does not distinguish between heterosexual and gay marriage? The majority answer is no in California. State rights, baby, if you don't like 'em, move to another state. Nobody's stopping you.
127. Rick - April 21, 2009 12:46 PM

#39 -
I hate religions in general, but thanks for that. If more religious people were like you, maybe religions in general would be more tolerable.
Anyway, whoever is saying "it's her opinion - she shouldn't have lost for it!", you're all idiots. If she were to say "I don't think blacks and whites should marry," you'd have a field day with it. Because that's wrong. And you know it is. The issue of gay marriage will hopefully be settled soon just like the issue of interracial marriage was. It's just a shame that it's 2009. For fuck's sake. But that's the power of religion, isn't it?
I don't care if your opinion is that gays shouldn't marry. The FACT is that you're an ignorant bigot who is possibly annoyed that someone else may actually be happy in their relationship. As #39 said, atheists and people of every religion are allowed to marry, it's not just for Christians. That goes for people of all races, and people of any sexual persuasion. Get your heads out of your asses.
137. Dar - April 21, 2009 1:00 PM
"Liberal" also means being open-minded and tolerant of all views and opinions, unless they differ with your group-think. In that case, liberals turn into such close-minded bigots even the Klan must be impressed.

She sounded like a moron. I think the clip above left off the first part where she said something like how it's "great that in our country people can choose either gay marriage or opposite marriage." If you can only choose it in what, four states, that leaves a big part of the country with no choice.
And "opposite marriage?" Please.
Her makeup was fabulous, her teeth are perfect (probably veneers), but she is a bimbonic idiot.
141. Jakey - April 21, 2009 1:04 PM
The paranoia here is either hilarious or depressing. Nobody advocated removing freedom of speech, censoring her, whatever the fuck you're thinking. You have no idea why she lost, you're just assuming a cause and effect because then it can be the liberals' fault and she can be, like, a martyr for free speech or something. (You do know nobody stopped her from saying this on national television, and that she was invited to elaborate on it a couple days later on national television, right? You know, the video up there? She can say whatever she wants.)
Anyway, seriously, did you see what she said? I wouldn't be surprised if her opinion had nothing to do with her losing. The way she said it was outrageously inarticulate and ungrammatical; you couldn't even tell what she was trying to say until she finally leaned back on "between a man and a woman." If anyone could misspell a word by saying it out loud, she could.
142. Bob - April 21, 2009 1:09 PM

#126 "State's rights" was the argument the South used to justify slavery and was their rationale for seceeding for the Union, so congratulations on having a 19th century mindset. You must be so proud. Since the federal government is involved in marriage - it issues green cards, you get federal tax breaks through the IRS - it's not a "state's rights" issue.
Now let me bring you up to date - the electorate doesn't interpret the Constitution, that's the role of Supreme Court. Which is also why the country didn't vote on the Civil Rights Act - the people don't vote to interpret legislative issues unless Congress, by a 2/3 majority, decides they can.
BTW, unconstitional issues get put on the ballot and voted on all the time. CA Prop 187 famously passed with an overwhelming majority and was signed into law. And then was overturned by in federal court. CA Prop 14 overturned the Fair Housing Act and allowed sellers to discriminate - and Reagan supported it and became governor on that stand. The Supreme Court overturned it under the Equal Protection Clause of the 14th Amendment. So enjoy Prop 8 while it lasts - then move when it gets overturned, no one will stop you. I hear Uzbekistan's nice this time of year.
145. ph7 - April 21, 2009 1:17 PM
Did anyone actually listen to the answer she gave? She was a rambling idiot. If she made an intelligent explanation of her position on homosexuality, she'd have been fine. But she couldn't even string a coherent sentence together, so she came across exactly as she is: a reactionary bibie thumping hillbilliy with no ability to construct a rational argument.

Perez Hilton is an IDIOT, he expected to hear what? every person has the right to express themselves, we may agree or not, hes gay and for him gay marriage would be the ideal but just because hes Ok with it that doesnt mean that the entire Population has to think alike, well done Miss California!
149. Danklin24 - April 21, 2009 1:23 PM

155. cavy - April 21, 2009 1:48 PM
It's not a matter of being pro gay or pro straight, it's a matter of her not showing compassion for an entire group of American people. As a "MISS" it is her duty and responsibility to include all Americans - she can totally have her own opinion without insulting and shutting out people. She should have said something like, "my beliefs may differ, but everyone has the right to love" or ANYTHING other than what she said.
She is a terrible figure head of the pageant and this is why she lost. I'm straight, married to a military man and I think it was very disgusting what she said in her answer....and she didn't even answer the original question.

For those of you who are using Christianity against being gay entirely, shame on you. You don't have to choose between being gay and being Christian. How many people choose to be gay? Maybe confused bi's that feel they have to choose, but really. There are plenty of gay Christians in the world that know God and believe Christ is the son. Why are all you aethiests bagging on Christians??? It takes way more faith to believe in Darwinism than it does in a religion. How come there are still apes? I thought when a species evolved the ENTIRE species evolved? There is proof after proof (by scientists) that Jesus Christ was on the face of this earth. Period. There's plenty of tablets and scribes from that era with stories of the bible in museums all over the world. Even Native Americans talk about a great flood and a vessel that carried animals. There are so many accounts, some even being discovered to this very day. What's so wrong with worshipping a loving God?
164. Dar - April 21, 2009 2:06 PM
Re: #154 -- Really, Michelle? Miss USA should reflect the USA?
By your logic, it appears Miss California did a fine job of representing California then. Remember Prop 8--the proposition banning gay marriage in California--and how it passed in a general election last November? If a liberal bastion like California voted against gay marriage, I find it hard to believe it would pass a national test. Miss California probably represents the majority view whether you like it or not!
Even though I don't agree with the woman--I have no objections to gay marriage and believe it will be legalized in all states eventually--I find this uproar over someone daring to express an opinion just laughable. Anybody who doesn't march in time to the PC tune gets crucified by the "enlightened" and "open-minded" ones--the "individuals" who all think and act alike.
165. Barry O - April 21, 2009 2:23 PM
Gay marriage would be legal if only gays had the right to vote, weren't intimidated by cross-burnings and lynchings at night, and weren't barred from college and employment. Oh, waitaminute...

Libs are a binch of insecure whiners. Sorry she didnt state the answer you wanted to hear. Blasting her and saying its how she said it is so lame. If she had sounded dumber and gave the opposite answer, she would be the new spokesman for gay rights.
She gave an opinion and sorry if it goes against your uncoventional views. Depite the libs owning the media and ripping those who dare speak out against them, marriage is always between a man and a woman and props to this girl for standing up for what is right rather then being politically correct to win a contest.
She is a winner in my book and the fact she is hot only makes the liberals even more mad that their leadership is made up of the likes of Janine Garofalo.
168. effyeray - April 21, 2009 2:29 PM
How dare someone have an opinion that doesn't mirror the liberal media's? Most of America believes this is abhorrent, deviant behavior. Contrary to gay propaganda & what the media would lead you to believe, the gay population is microscopic. Fuck them like they fuck each other (except for lesbians, who wouldn't know a proper fucking from a shower nozzle). Word.
169. Barry O - April 21, 2009 2:29 PM
Gay marriage would be legal if we could just get gays the right to vote, prevent their intimidation by cross-burnings and lynchings at night, and allow them to pursue college and employment. Oh, waitaminute...
Sorry Perez, felching and rusty trombones were left out of the Constitution. Your whole marriage stink is just gays being melodramatic and lesbos being confrontational...

#163 Uh, because modern man and modern apes evolved from a common ancestor, we didn't evolve from the apes you see today. Darwin made a good guess but he didn't know shit about paleontology or anthropology.
Why do you assume that everyone who's challenging Mis CA's "Christian" view of being against gay marriage is an atheist? Why do you consider your religion is under attack? That's just as flawed as your understanding of evolution. No one is insisting that you marry outside your religion or your sexual orienation, or perform any ceremony inside your religious house that offends you or is counter to your beliefs. No one is insisting Jesus didn't exist. (BtW, there's a difference between believing he existed and believing he was divine - more than a few religions differ on this. See confusion over Darwin, above.)
Worship as you please, and God bless you, sincerely.
Just don't try to justify intolerance of anyone else in a civil arena with that religion and think you should be given a pass for it.
171. em07 - April 21, 2009 2:32 PM
@ 2 you're sick.
And for all the "Christians" you're so full of crap Jesus said beautiful, wonderful things about accepting other people and forgiving and you guys don't follow a bloody word he said. Your religion breeds everything he spoke against. But it's everybody else who isn't living right! You can't even follow the pivotal person your religion is based on!!
Christianity=hypocrisy

175. Matrim - April 21, 2009 2:42 PM
@ 163> Sorry, but you are a goddamned moron. I'd actually take the time to point out all the fallacies in your statements if I thought it would make one whit of difference, but as it stands I'd simply be wasting my time.
You know what? Fuck it, I'll do it anyway. It doesn't take faith to believe in something with evidence (i.e. natural selection), faith is believe in absence of or in opposition to evidence. Yes species evolve, but "apes" isn't a species, it's a classification of mammal. So both new world apes and old world apes share a common ancestor in the so-called great apes. There is absolutely NO scientific evidence of the existence of Christ and, outside the Bible, the only accounts of Christ recorded at all have been determined to be inserted long after the original texts were written. As for accounts of floods, there are floods all over the world every year . . . just because a culture happens to have a story about a big flood says NOTHING about the supposed global deluge. The deluge of Gilgamesh was written about 11 centuries BEFORE the Genesis account, does that mean that the Sumerian version is more likely or correct than the Hebrew version? Additionally, while many native American myths do make mention of various catastrophic floods, not a single one bears more than a passing resemblance to the Mesopotamian myths. As for what's wrong about worshipping a "loving" god, the fact that there is no evidence to support it is one reason; another is that the Christian god (as well as the Jewish god and the Muslim god . . . even though they're all, technically, the same character) is anything but loving. He's misogynistic, cruel, inconsistent, proud, short-tempered, and downright monstrous. True, he's no worse than the Greek gods, but then again no one is telling us to live our lives in accordance with the Iliad.

"God" also said a woman's attire should be "modest".
Someone should ask her what the bible says about women posing for photographs with most of their bodies exposed.
I mean its all gravy if she wants to omit certain parts of the Bible to show me her chesticles and ass and great legs. Just don't advocate something if you have no idea what you're talking about.
178. RichPort's Ghost - April 21, 2009 2:49 PM
This entire argument is retarded. The majority of people in CA voted against gay marriage. Shockingly, this is truth. You'd figure in the 50 states, cali had the best chance of any of them. But it didn't. You lost. Sorry. Miss CA, has the same view as 52% of the state she represents. She is in the majority. She is being true to her states beliefs. If Perez wanted to eliminate her because of that, that's his prerogative. He's furthering his own agenda/ego by asking a loaded question and then penalizing her for differing. But that's how all you lefties operate. We disagree with the exemplary job that barry is doing and we get labeled a racist. disagree with perez and you're a gay basher. Does anyone realize the similarities between this thinking and ohhhhh say Stalin? Change is coming alright.
I fail to see how this is relevant to a beauty pagent anyway, but WTF.

181. kiranna - April 21, 2009 2:53 PM
I feel really bad for Miss California since she'll have to deal with/defend her comments about gay marriage for a very long time. Perez Hilton was really just advocating his own agenda and bringing issues he personally wants talked about to the forefront of the news which is why he's pushing it so hard. He says that he's not against her opinion but the way she answered it. I heard what she said and there have been so many pageant contestants who've said much stupider things than Carrie. Besides, she's not against people being gay- just gay marriage which is certainly a topic of controversy. I'm for gay marriage but personally don't think this is much of a big deal and wish both she and perez will go away.
182. liz4sale - April 21, 2009 2:59 PM
i dont have anything against gays except for the fact that most, not all, of them define themselves by that very thing. that they're gay. people should be defined by who they are as a person and what they do, not whether they are straight or not. its completely ridiculous. perez hilton is nonstop screaming from the top of his lungs how gay he is, and all he wants to talk about it gay rights. it's shallow and pathetic. and for those of you saying that religion has nothing to do with our nation, well it does. or gays would be able to marry in all 50 states.. me personally, i think they should be able to, sure. but miss CA is not the only person who does not agree with it, obviously.

And that's all I have to say on the issue of gay marriage.
185. abbs - April 21, 2009 3:12 PM
biblically correct? What a non-answer. I don't even know what that means. She's certainly entitled to her own opinion but I'm going to ridicule her if she can't explain the reasoning behind her belief farther than "God told me so." I mean honestly Leviticus was written as a law book intended for people living in fucking tents, trying to populate a religion with many DESCENDANTS, they couldn't afford to be homosexual.
The only reason this makes me mad is because for some reason, people care what this bitch has to say, instead of someone who has genuinely thought about the issue and come to their opinion logically and rationally. I would honestly be really interested in hearing the reasoning of a person who opposed gay marriage, and had an intelligent rationale to back it up.
186. SmokingGirl - April 21, 2009 3:19 PM
I doubt anyone will read this post, and frankly, that's fine with me.
To all of you who prattled about "seperation of church and state", here's a heads up. Seperation of Church and State is discussed in the Federalist Papers, not the Constiution. Furthermore, Seperation of Church and State is to keep the State out of the Church, not the other way around. The reason for this was to keep America from becoming another England, where the monarch is the head of the Church of England aka the Anglican Church formed by Henry the VIII.
Also, it's freedom OF religion; not freedom FROM religion.
You limp-wristed, simpering, blithering fools like to proclaim your superiority, especially because you are so politically enlightened and open-minded, but yet when push comes to shove, you have absolutely no idea as to what you're blathering on about. And here's another FYI, the Supreme Court is to interprite law, not make law. It is unconstitutional for ANY court to make ANY law, which is why we have the legislative branch of government. So to use Supreme Court judgements to make a case is absolutely absurd. To bring that home, here's an example:
I am extremely pro-choice, yet I do not agree with Roe vs. Wade. Would you like to know why? Because the Supreme Court isn't to make law, that's why. And ANY law that has been surpassed by any court should be revoked (which can be done) and it should be voted on through the proper channels.
There, rant done.

We all know that legislating by proposition rather than by elected assemblies is a wee bit of a mob mentality at work, but who cares? Why do you assume all non-Christians are Athiests? It just isn't the case. Secondly, if an Athiests who believes there are facts that discount your god, why in HELL would those same people believe in such nonsense as a place like hell? Makes no sense.
Open your mind a little....it's okay to question what you've been told all of your life to believe, it's how we've been able to evolve and advance as we have. Besides, wouldn't your god accept you into his heaven even if you were wrong?
192. sarah - April 21, 2009 3:43 PM
I seriously don't get it. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion here. Miss CA included. So she doesn't agree with gay marriage, and I think that's great. I am VERY proud of her for standing up for what she believes. There are two sides to every argument and I am personally relieved she said this publicly. I am so sick of the media and anyone who declares their homosexuality trying to make the rest of the world accept and agree. It is very explicitly stated in the Bible that homosexuality is totally unacceptable. Yes, as Christians we are called to love those who sin--not judge them. Judging isn't our job and most Christians should know and practice this. Miss CA wasn't judging. She was asked a question and gave her honest opinion. Give the girl a break already people. Not everyone can agree.

195. Rachel - April 21, 2009 3:54 PM
If she really just disagreed with homosexuality and gay marriage, I wouldn't care. She has a right to her opinion. But what gets me, is that she's just echoing what her parents told her.
See, I used to think homosexuality was bad too. I thought that way because my dad thought that way. When I grew up a little, I started to form opinions for myself. I realized that homosexuality was not a choice (like that dumb bimbo said), and gay men are attracted to men like I (a female) am attracted to men. I can't help being attracted to men, and those gay men can't help it. If I can be happy by being with a man, why can't gay men and women be happy in the same way? We only get one life.
So this little bimbo, like many people in the States and really all over the world, needs to grow up and think for herself. I'm sure she hasn't done that for a long time, but it's never too late to start.
196. Some dude - April 21, 2009 3:57 PM

#194 Rhialto....your response is sad, but true. I believe in 100 years people will look back on this topic with shock that we were so cruel in this time in history. I think it will look absolutely ridiculous that so many people were against 2 people (ANY 2 people) in love are denied their rights in marriage. I'm a straight female married to a military man and I am shocked at Miss California's answer in this day and age. She had a right to her opinion, but her delivery was way off..she is lacking empathy and class. Way to alienate an entire group of Americans (gay or not)!

199. JustJess - April 21, 2009 4:08 PM
I am not a Christian, I am an Atheist - and I am highly offended by the fact that I live in America and a person can't voice their opinion, even if it's unpopular.
If I don't like something on TV - I don't watch it. If I don't like a store, I don't shop there. I don't believe in the fairy tales printed in the Bible because I believe they were put there to control the masses. But I honestly do not believe that another shouldn't have the right to believe what they want.
If it makes them feel better about the life they have - what's the harm? She was just stating her opinion - not putting a knife to my neck for me to believe what she does...
Whatever happened to that little thing called freedom?
200. RichPort's Ghost - April 21, 2009 4:11 PM

@196 its the mindset that because someone is different they should be strippedof the same rights as the rest of the community
the gays being denied marriage is not too unlike having the whites and colored water fountains of decades ago
interracial marriages were also met with simliar protest
what if they banned a black man from getting married to a white woman because in the bible it didnt say "black man" it says "Adam and Eve"
...not "Tyrone and Eve"
would it be less offensive?
would it be any different?

204. JustJess - April 21, 2009 4:23 PM
It's very simple... When gay people start calling their partners "Husband/Wife" the dialog will start to change... A woman saying, "My wife and I are going to store..." sounds less startling because it's a more common title than 'partner"...
--- I believe that the seperation of church and state is what should be the goal in this case --- and it should be up to all affected voters to decide if that is the element they want to live next to. Putting it to a vote ensures all are heard - and people can decide where they want to live when majority rules---
THIS PROBABLY WOULD HAVE BEEN THE BETTER ANSWER...
too late now...

#186 To quote you so eloquently, "you have absolutely no idea as to what you're blathering on about".
No one's talking about SEPARATION (spell it right, fer chrissakes) of church and state, but since you brought it up, read the First Amendment to the Constitution. The government can't endorse or promote any religion over another - unlike Argentina, where you can't be president unless you're a Roman Catholic, The wall of separation's purpose IS to keep religion out of goverment, and government out of religion. Our founding fathers, who were men of enlightenment, looked at the centuries of religious wars that bankrupted European kingdoms and dynasties and said, "no, thanks". You have freedom OF religion all you want, and thankfully even the limp-wristed, simpering, blithering fools, as you call them, out there have freedom FROM having religious beliefs pushed on them by the government or anyone else.
And the role of ANY court is to INTERPRET (spell it right fer chrissakes) the law and make rulings on cases it hears. Roe v. Wade isn't a law, any more than Brown v. Board of Education or Hendandez v. Texas are - they're are all civil cases that challenged existing state or federal laws. And in Roe v. Wade the Supremes made a decision that the laws regarding abortion in that case were a violation of the 14th Amendment, just as they ruled that segregation in Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka was also unconstitutional under that Amendment. The existing state and federal abortion laws that pertained (many from the early 1800's) were overturned because that court decision rendered them invalid - the 14th Amendment, created after the Civil War, was upheld. The court did not enact new legislation - but whether you feel they interpreted that legislated Amendment correctly is something else.
Judicial rulings can be overturned, but you clearly don't understand the difference between a ruling and an enacted law.
210. JustJess - April 21, 2009 4:45 PM
To all gay-marriage bashers:
Why does the legalization of gay marriage bother you so much? Do you really think your marriage is "special"? They can live together, buy homes, adopt children, and even procreate. They can create living wills, raise straight children, and attend soccer games.
Some people are just lemmings and claim "it's an abomination!" Yet your Bible speaks about adultery and gluttony being a sin - and yet we have an over 50% divorce rate in this country, along with some of the highest obesity rates of any developed nation in THE WORLD! And we are supposed to be a Christian nation?!
Why the hypocrisy?? Perhaps because your church has been teaching what it knows best - the elitism in your ideologies is stifling! Really - what's the difference between all these "sins"?

1 Corinthians 11:5-6
And every woman who prays or prophesies with her head uncovered dishonors her head—it is just as though her head were shaved. 6If a woman does not cover her head, she should have her hair cut off; and if it is a disgrace for a woman to have her hair cut or shaved off, she should cover her head.
1 Timothy 2:9-20
9 I also want women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or expensive clothes, 10but with good deeds, appropriate for women who profess to worship God.
11A woman should learn in quietness and full submission. 12I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man; she must be silent. 13For Adam was formed first, then Eve. 14And Adam was not the one deceived; it was the woman who was deceived and became a sinner. 15But women[a] will be saved[b] through childbearing—if they continue in faith, love and holiness with propriety.
So how many woman cover their head during prayer? Yeah, you're all going to hell. The Bible is CLEARLY stating that Men > Woman. So how many of you Christians are going to turn a blind eye to this and continue to pick and choose what parts of the Bible you will follow?

At this point, I always love to quote The West Wing:
resident Josiah Bartlet: Good. I like your show. I like how you call homosexuality an abomination.
Dr. Jenna Jacobs: I don't say homosexuality is an abomination, Mr. President. The Bible does.
President Josiah Bartlet: Yes it does. Leviticus.
Dr. Jenna Jacobs: 18:22.
President Josiah Bartlet: Chapter and verse. I wanted to ask you a couple of questions while I have you here. I'm interested in selling my youngest daughter into slavery as sanctioned in Exodus 21:7. She's a Georgetown sophomore, speaks fluent Italian, always cleared the table when it was her turn. What would a good price for her be? While thinking about that, can I ask another? My Chief of Staff Leo McGarry insists on working on the Sabbath. Exodus 35:2 clearly says he should be put to death. Am I morally obligated to kill him myself or is it okay to call the police? Here's one that's really important because we've got a lot of sports fans in this town: touching the skin of a dead pig makes one unclean. Leviticus 11:7. If they promise to wear gloves, can the Washington Redskins still play football? Can Notre Dame? Can West Point? Does the whole town really have to be together to stone my brother John for planting different crops side by side? Can I burn my mother in a small family gathering for wearing garments made from two different threads? Think about those questions, would you? One last thing: while you may be mistaking this for your monthly meeting of the Ignorant Tight-Ass Club, in this building, when the President stands, nobody sits.

Huh! What do you think of that?
But, then again, we never expect Miss USA contestants to have functional, rational brains.

The correct answer should've been, "To each his or her own. However, if you are asking me whether I would like to see your unsightly portly ass steam plow it into another man's rectum, I'll be too busy being dead. Fuck you, Perez. And God Bless America."

236. Kariyshok - April 21, 2009 7:49 PM
I think she is right about: stand up for what you believe in, its either black or white. No grey areas. What they are saing in Miss America Pagent is that you should never give your personal opinion, but you should just try to please everyone! Thats never going to work! Its not about the question itself, it could have been anything else(like was in Iraq, or the morgage crisis), the fact is: she stood up for what she b elieved it, and had balls to do it, infront of millions of people. I give her thumbs up! BTW: she is much more stunning than that cheap cheerleader looking winner from whatever state she was.

And for everyone saying she has the right to her opinion, I agree, but she is a fucking moron with the way she delivered her response - she could have stuck to her opinion without alienating an entire group of Americans (gay or not). Many on here seem to be missing the point.....SHE DIDN'T ANSWER WITH COMPASSION OR UNDERSTANDING - very tacky for a "Miss".
239. Star3 - April 21, 2009 8:08 PM
@215: If by prude, you mean we have decent moral values, then, yes, I suppose, by your standards, we are prudish, which must mean you consider God to, also, be a prude. You'll need to take that up with him, since He made the rules, and it will be interesting to see which of you wins that debate. I am so proud of Miss California for maintaining her composure while Puke Perez lost his. Perez is such a rude, crude ass, and should apologize for his outrageous behavior, and never be allowed to participate on another show ever. I will not watch anything he is on. Miss California answered the question she was given, she answered it honestly, and many of us respect her for that. She acknowledged that her answer would not be a popular one, but still remained loyal to her standards, and did not compromise her beliefs. Those who are angry at her response are the ones who need to re-think their low standards. I am not angry at people for their opinions, nor do I hate homosexuals, for I believe their life choice is between them and God---not between them and me. However, I do not feel they have the right to say how anyone else or I should feel, or how we should display those feelings if asked. Most of us do not involve ourselves in any type discussion on the subject, as we have busy lives, and other issues to address in our personal lives to have time to deal with it. But, apparently, the other side has plenty of time on their hands to think of ways to let us know of our "mis-informed, un-politically correct attitudes", so just to clear that all up for them, as the line in an old movie stated, "Frankly, my dear, I don't give a dam!"
240. DJ - April 21, 2009 8:10 PM
I'm boycotting Perez for turning commie and thinking everyone should be forced to have the same opinion. She spoke from her heart and had the strength to stand strong to her convictions. Kudos to her. Perez is a commie.

2.) She is smoooooooookin

why would you slam on someone for being honest,
i love how gay's can show just how intolerant they are for someone being honest.
freedom of speech only works when you have someone yelling in your face stuff that you hate to hear, it doesn't work when you use punishment, i.e. making them loose a contest, in order to force your viewpoints. all you do is strengthen the opposition.
god i hate all of you.
246. ANGRY BLACK MAN - April 21, 2009 8:37 PM
Why does everyone compare being black to being gay? I DONT APPRECAITE BEING LUMPED IN THE SAME CATERGORY AS THE TURD MUNCHERS OF THE WORLD JUST BECAUSE OF THE COLOR OF MY SKIN. Sexual preference and race are two completely different kettles of fish. I praise this girl for having the guts to state her opinion. Should she have lied to be please the little sissy faggots?
247. yuristache - April 21, 2009 8:38 PM
What Perez Hilton did was really shitty. He put her in a no-win situation, as people would have been divided over her answer either way. And in all fairness, she took a bullshit question, answered it honestly and didn't suck up to that arrogant pussball of a judge. That is what we call integrity. If you want to criticize her for sticking to her principles, then at least have decency to acknowledge that you are as close-minded as those who would have met the answer with equal opposition had she been pro-gay marriage.
248. Rob - April 21, 2009 8:41 PM
Although Barack Obama has said that he supports civil unions, he is against gay marriage. In an interview with the Chicago Daily Tribune, Obama said, "I'm a Christian. And so, although I try not to have my religious beliefs dominate or determine my political views on this issue, I do believe that tradition, and my religious beliefs say that marriage is something sanctified between a man and a woman."
That's basically the same answer this girl gave. Let's demonize President Obama too while we're at it.

Actually 227 - I am an Atheist, married and straight.
I just wouldn't like it if someone told me that I couldn't do something I wanted to do - and neither would you. Letting gays marry when they do EVERYTHING else we do is ... well, pointless...
Religion followers are the biggest hypocrites and lemmings of all - but I trust evolution will do away with them soon enough... it's the only way we will get to a higher state of being... because I for one can think for myself, and don't need a man in a robe to do that for me... and that guy in a robe doesn't know anymore than me about anything other than how to swindle his neighbor to tithe every week...
In the meantime, I'll be waiting on a beach chair with some popcorn and a pair of shades for the Rapture - oh Anti-Christ, where are you??

What PH did WAS SHITTY! But she should have been smarter than that. We all know beauty and money is a dirty game - there are even shows devoted to how people try to cut other down to get ahead (The apprentice) or how to lie and cheat to get ahead to get a modeling contract (Top Model).
She's not to bright - you always give them what they want to here. There are stories upon stories of women that slept their way to the top (Kate Capshaw, Kim Kardashian, Marilyn Monroe) and guys that took steroids to land multimillion baseball contracts.
So again - evolution is in play - She Was the Weakest Link...

255. TeaBag - April 21, 2009 8:53 PM
I don't know why people aren't making more of the bullshit question itself:
"Vermont recently became the 4th state to legalize same-sex marriage. Do you think that EVERY State SHOULD follow suit? Why OR why not?"
How can one person say that ALL states SHOULD or SHOULDN'T do anything? She lives in California, and as a citizen of California her opinion matters in California. The citizens of the other states get to decide, if they wish to raise the issue with their legislature, to bring the topic to a vote.
Though maybe not as concisely as she could have, she answered in the only way one could - it's not up her, it's up to the people. she personally feels the answer is no. she's one person. If she lived in Vermont, she would've lost out and had to deal with it, but as she said, the people would have come to the decision.
It probably won't happen anytime in the near future, but it would nice for the Supreme Court to grant certiorari on a 14th amendment same-sex marriage case and get it over with. And everyone can thank Clinton for the Defense of Marriage Act that doesn't require full faith and credit to be given to gay-marriages from other states. You would think Bill would understand.
Lastly, what's up with Perez reacting the way he did to HIS OWN question? If you're going to ask it, you've got to accept both answers. The contestant had no control over him asking her that, it's not like she brought up the subject.
256. missywissy - April 21, 2009 9:03 PM
170- I don't need a pass from you. Thanks for your generosity anyway.
175- you're absolutely right, you wasted your time.
191- "open your mind". If one believes in a Christian God, their mind is not open? How do you know what I have been through in my life to led me to my personal beliefs?
Folks think Christianity is just handed down, that somebody MUST have shoved it down my throat, and now I'm buying into a mystical belief. It's just not true. We all get the answers we need, maybe not now, but they are reveiled within time if our hearts are open. Sorry to say, but the answer is not always going to be the same for me as it is for you. I'm not telling anyone in here that they are wrong. If you are joyful in your heart and you feel you are contributing to the progression of the human race and the world, then by all means carry on! I think gay people SHOULD have the right to get married. Now, I don't think they should be bringing kids into the equation. I think mother nature made that impossible for a reason. Marriage is basically a law created by man saying you can't have sex with anyone else the rest of your life and you all got to be nice and share. No matter how nice of couple two men are or two women are, it just doesn't seem healthy not to have the male/female balance. That's just my opinion. Call me names, get pissed off, whatever. I didn't invent the world and decide there should be male and female. I don't believe in fighting what nature intended either.

1) Why did Hilton ask the question if he did not want the answer?
2) There is a major difference between being opposed to gay marriage and being a homophobe ...
3) While she was not at all concise, I think what she was trying to get across is that she respects that everyone in America has a choice as to how to live their lives, but that she would not do it herself.
To me, this question is in the same category as abortion, not racism.
260. majority - April 21, 2009 9:43 PM
Perez, you queen, less than 90% of gays are for same sex marriage and gays are less than 10% of the population. Your represent a vast minority. 269. Christie - April 21, 2009 10:21 PM
Kudos to her for standing up for what she believes in and standing behind The Bible. Very few people would do that these days, especially in this morally messed-up society. This is coming from a girl who has lived in the world, not believed in God, bashed God, stood up for gay marriage, and stood up for abortion.
It takes a great deal of faith to not believe in Jesus. It takes some guts to not believe in Jesus's crucifixion, burial, and resurrection. You are putting your faith in human beings who claim that this happened, then this happened, then this just because they had a few extra years of schooling. The point is that human beings are prone to error. Remember, it was once thought that the Earth was flat! Our human minds are incredibly limited and people don't like to admit that. We as humans like to think our flesh is the biggest, baddest thing in this universe. We like to think that our minds can wrap around every single aspect of this or that.
Marriage is a covenant between man and woman. Period. It is a God-ordained covenant at that. It is to reflect the marriage between Christ and his church. I don't believe in "religion", but only in what the Bible says and what Jesus has taught. While Jesus would look down upon persecuting homosexuals, it is not right for a Christian to say that they support gay marriage because that is completely going against what God has established. No, God did not mean for anybody to be gay, nor did he create humans to be. Sin has corrupted every aspect of this world, rendering God's creation in all ways. God is a God of love, and if you think otherwise, then you are worshiping or "researching" the wrong god. If you really knew Him, you would know that he is not comparable to any other man-established god or goddess.
I am not of this world, but of Jesus Christ my Savior. I am in need of saving every day....we all are. This world needs saved! So thank you for standing up for Him, Miss California.

@ #217
"So how many woman cover their head during prayer? Yeah, you're all going to hell. The Bible is CLEARLY stating that Men > Woman. So how many of you Christians are going to turn a blind eye to this and continue to pick and choose what parts of the Bible you will follow?"
No, you don't go to hell if you accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. A lot of the things written in the Bible reflected practices of that day, of course. Just like when Mary Magdalene was going to be stoned, Jesus told them "He who does not sin cast the first stone". Of course stoning does not happen in this country these days but that can still be taken and applied to our culture today by saying, "He who does not sin cast the first judgement".
But of course, those who read the Bible with their head and not their heart will never understand it.
"Some people are just lemmings and claim "it's an abomination!" Yet your Bible speaks about adultery and gluttony being a sin - and yet we have an over 50% divorce rate in this country, along with some of the highest obesity rates of any developed nation in THE WORLD! And we are supposed to be a Christian nation?!"
Yes, the Bible does speak about adultery and gluttony being sin - we are SINFUL CREATURES! Without Jesus Christ, we are destined for hell. Do you know why we have such a high divorce rate? Because this country has been drifting away from the way of God. The US started off as a Christian nation and slowly, but surely, this country is drifting away. No wonder we have such a high murder rate, divorce rate, and disease-related death rate. People just don't care about people, family, or health any more! This country needs Jesus Christ more than ever...sin is absolutely destroying it.

Whomever decided he could be a judge should be taken out back and beat.
Every contestant should have been given the same question.
I put this issue squarely on the shoulders of the idiots who arranged the pagent. What does Perez Hilton do to warrant being concidered for a judge?
Did he suck off the people in charge? (Very Likely).
Or did the faggot threaten a lawsuit if they didn't have a homo present?

You don't need to tell people what they want to hear. That is absolute cowardice. I can't believe that you are advocating that people behave as nothing more than a drone population of "Yes Men." Furthermore, people have successfully climbed the social ladder without being vapid or without morals. However, I understand the crux of your post ... you can't win without being a complete shitbag, so either compromise your principles or don't even try. Good lesson. Thanks for that.
Also, quips from extinct gameshows are pretty weak for a closer. But to follow suit ... This. Is. Jeopardy. [See, that was no less obnoxious or irrelevant as your quote ... or whole post for that matter.]
Also note: "to" should be "too" in the sentence where you are criticizing her intelligence. Just thought that was fun to point out. Note the correct use of "to." Next week, I will teach you how this homonym can be used as a number. [Perez, relax ... I said homonym ...]

THIS WOMAN DESERVED TO LOSE. It's a freaking beauty pageant, not a political debate. The job of Miss USA requires extensive traveling and public speaking, and the winner should be able to do so without offending their audience or bringing controversy on their sponsors. It is a politically neutral job, not an opportunity to stand on your personal soapbox. There were MANY ways she could've answered that question in a more diplomatic fashion, while still remaining true to her personal beliefs. She bungled that on her own, no vast liberal conspiracy required.
279. Matrim - April 21, 2009 11:37 PM
"it just doesn't seem healthy not to have the male/female balance"
And what information, pray tell, do you base this on? You know, other than personal prejudice. All longitudinal studies on the subject have shown that the only particular problem the children of gay parents encounter is the bigotry of homophobic people.

How is it that prancing around on stage half-naked is biblically "okay", but homosexuality is not? Oh, yeah, I forgot...selectively reading the bible is how one pulls that $@!% out of there!!! On another note, if she was being "biblically correct", and she was speaking for "her God" (what?), and God hates fags...the shouldn't she have won? Ohhhhh, forget it. Whaddya wanna bet that she blew Lauer about a minute after that take? Even money he blew a load straight into that HUGE FRIGGIN' MOUTH that she has (or was it just me that noticed that?).

I'd just like to repeat my earlier comment:
Perez Hilton is an asshat of biblical proportion. I wish she had just kicked his teeth in and said, "I think that answers your question".
I think it's fair and balanced. Fair, because she's a female trying to win a contest and he's a huge douchebag trying to create hype. Balanced, because she's in heels and he's a huge kickball at ground level. I haven't checked my Webster lately, but I believe it says, "this is a marriage made in heaven".
283. sarah - April 21, 2009 11:51 PM

1 Timothy 2:9-10
"In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with braided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array; But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works."
I guess her deep personal Christian convictions don't stop her from cherry-picking the Bible verses that best suit her narrow worldview - all whilst prancing around in a tiny bikini with her ass hanging out for all to see.

I hope she sues him, i really do. One's politics should not be used to deny one work, which is what he did to this woman when he voted against her, and no doubt influenced at least some of the other judges to do likewise. #294, please go back to the fucking shithole you crawled out of...in AMERICA people have freedom of speech. wishing she loses because of her opinions is DISCRIMINATION, you fucking hypocrite. thats like me saying i want all gay people to get AIDS because they are gay. its all discrimination based on sexual orientation, and you have a negative IQ if that is not obvious to you. for some people, their religion is a very strong and legitimate backing to their opinions, and there's nothing wrong with that. its none of anybody's business what someone else believes. its none of my business that someone is gay or straight. i do feel sorry for narrow minded bigots like you. such ignorance
@285, so christians cant wear bikinis?? they should wear zipped up parkas at all times or something?? why hold them to a higher standard?? because you hate them?? suck a dick, pathetic moron. all comments like yours make me more and more convinced that its the anti-christians who are just angry, bitter curmudgeons who spout ignorance out of hate.
298. spfork - April 22, 2009 1:10 AM
@239--by prude I in fact did not mean decent moral values. By prude I meant prude--someone who is EXCESSIVELY modest. Which we are, as far as countries go, the issue of religion put completely aside. What I said had nothing to do with moral values, and honestly, since when are we the moral beacon of the world?
But I wouldn't expect anything different from us. We are still a relatively young country compared to most around the world, and we still got our issues to work over. It's all just a matter of time. I'm not saying that because its what I want to happen, its just obvious when you look at history. All social stigma needs is time to heal.
I have no problem with God. I have problems with the people who speak for him. Similar to what you yourself are doing. But it doesn't really matter. It's all inevitable. And what happens is what God wanted to happen, right? right? Or does free will affect that....I don't know its been a while since catholic school.
299. Kitty says - April 22, 2009 1:12 AM
#297 Its not holding Christians to a higher standard, a Christian female who is consistent in practicing her beliefs should not reveal too much flesh.
I imagine if Jesus were alive today, most of you "Christians" would dismiss him as a peace-loving, hippy liberal and tell him to get a job and stop wearing sandals.

Chill out, I AM a Christian. Why do you think I'm quoting the Bible as evidence of this woman's hypocrisy? And YES, Christians are supposed to hold themselves to higher standards than the rest of the world:
"Romans 2:12 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God."
Personally, I don't get involved in politics because my faith is based on a personal relationship with Christ, not the fleeting legislative whims of a secular state. I have gay family members, and I love them and support them as much as possible. But I CAN'T STAND hypocritical Christians who use the Bible as a platform for their political beliefs when it suits them and fail to apply it to their personal conduct. It was embarrassing to watch her on the news spouting off on how she was inspired by God to make her statement, juxtaposed with leering camera shots of her prancing around with her butt and breasts on display. Yes, you can be a Christian and wear a bikini. But recognize your own sins before you go throwing stones at others.
P.S. If you want to attack "anti-Christians" for using bitter, ignorant hate speech, saying things like "suck a dick, pathetic moron" probably doesn't help build an intelligent case. Just a thought :-)

307. AtomicCoffee - April 22, 2009 2:03 AM
You know what? I'm taking Miss California's side here for two reasons:
First, I don't care what anybody says - two dudes with moustaches and thick, black arm hair referring to one another as "my husband" is friggin' weird! And it has nothin' to do with the Bible, or Jesus or moral superiority. Freddie Mercury and the Biker Guy from the Village People tongue-wrestling and gently cupping one another's man-boobs is just flat out creepy. (And I bet if you really pressed them, even they would agree with me.)
And the second reason: I'd really like to see her naked someday, and I don't want her to blackball me the way the Miss USA judges blackballed her just because she said something they didn't agree with.
BTW, TheSuperficial.com is WAY better than Perez Hilton's site!
308. Violet - April 22, 2009 2:05 AM
@Christie
Mary Magdalene was NOT the woman who almost gets stoned and saved by Jesus.
Get your facts straight when you talk about the Magdalene.
Concerning this bs, I consider myself a Wiccan/Gnostic. I wonder how many of the Christians here have really read the Bible (more than once), the Apocrypha, and the more recent gospels and texts found. There's more to the Bible than the Bible. And I don't mean it's "divine." Fuck the whole Old Testament. The New Testament is what most of you draw from. Jesus dug the freaks! And the most important commandment is love one another. Enough of all the shit about homosexuality being this huge sin that is plaguing the United States. According to the Bible (as most follow it), we're all a bunch of sinful fucks. So don't be so damn obnoxious. And spare me your prayers.
As for this girl and her retarded response... good for her for staying true to herself. But it's true that she didn't really answer the fucking question. Stupid people come in all religions. We should be talking about her fucking stupidity. And PH is just an idiot.

312. a sanderson - April 22, 2009 6:07 AM
She is allowed to have her own opnion, but that doesnt mean we have to like it or that the judges have to like it. Its not just because she spoke her mind thats wrong here, its the content of her message. Yes, I think she shouldve lost the race because of her commments because whike the US government doesnt agree, the bban on marriage for homosexuals is incredibly discrimination, no matter you look at it. What if she said blacks, jews, and insert another minority group here were not allowed to marry? Wouldnt you feel that would be grounds for her to not win? People are so use to seeing gays as non-people so somehow its ok to discrimnate against them.
PS people who use the bible as reference for their reference for determining what is right and correct in todsays world are utterly retarded because they obviously havent read their own f*cking bible. For one, leviticus was meant as a guideline for jews to behave in society. Therefore, some jews do not eat pig or shellfish. I dont see half of the christians who follow leviticus following the other laws put down by leviticus. IE keeping your beard long etc. Nope, they just conveintly leave out what they want to and take parts of it to fit their own narrow minded view about how mankind's sexuality "is supposed to be"

316. just - April 22, 2009 6:51 AM
I don't think anyone is actually addressing the real question here.
The real question is what the fuck is Perez Hilton doing on tv let alone being a judge of ANYTHING? This is the same man that made it his life's work to "out" Neil Patrick Harris. What a cunt! Let the man love penis in the privacy of his own home. Not everyone wants to rub their sexuality in the faces of the great unwashed. There's a strong whiff of hypocrisy as straight celebs don't need to come out and say "christ, I just love me some vagina and you really need to know about it". This Hilton character really needs to take a look in the mirror (perhaps not) and ask himself what positive contribution he is making to society.
As for Miss California, she was asked a question and she gave an honest answer. If that doesn't please everyone then fuck.. too bad. I am actually happy that she chose to give an answer that was honest and not sell herself out because she was being put on the spot. It was never going to go down well with the gay crowd and I am sure she knew that. Before this point however, she wasn't running around with a banner protesting gay marriage. She kept her opinions to herself.
Fuck Hilton, he's the biggest, material stealing cunt and I can't understand why people support anything he does.

I'd believe there're some people who are programmed by nature to be gay.But i'd beieve as well there're people who have chosen to be gay.Because they got tired of the male and female game.Opposite sex don't find them attractive. They don't care where they get sex from unless it's sex. They love the attention and so on.

As a Christian, I am often frustrated by those Christians that miss the all important part of being a Christian ... Thou shalt love thy God with all thy heart and love thy neighbor as thyself. Nowhere in the Bible does it say to go out and protest abortions, rant about gays, or to judge anyone. In fact, it says that you shouldn't judge others. Go forth and spread the Good News is not a command to go out and tell people to repent. Tell them that Christ died for them and that they can have live in Him....not, if you gays don't turn around, you're going to hell! Every Christian that I know still sins. So why do they think their sins are more forgiving than the sins of others? The difference is that through Christ, sins are forgiven .... ALL sins.
Gays should not be discriminated against, period. They should be provided the same benefits, no more, no less.
On topic.....what was the purpose of Perez even asking such a question at a beauty pagaent? And even more, why judge her unfairly for not answering the answer he wanted to hear. He's as intolerant with his views as he finds her of hers. He's tolerant only of those who agree with him.
335. Jim - April 22, 2009 9:29 AM
So, two gay men "marry" and adopt a little boy. What do they do, flip a coin to see who gets to play with the boy's penis in the bathtub each night? We're supposed to believe they won't molest the boy, that they're not perverts...they just like to dress up in buttless chaps and red lipstick and chains. But they won't engage in sex play with the boy.
Yeah right.
We're NEVER going to allow gay marriage. NEVER.

339. JPRichardson - April 22, 2009 9:48 AM
This will be my first (and probably my last) serious comment in this forum, so please read. Same sex marriage is unneccessary. Same sex couples SHOULD INDEED have the right to legalize their union so that they feel protected by law, but I don't see the need of this union having the same quality as regular, opposite sex marriages. Family is the foundation of society; marriage, in principle, is an institution in which the state acknowledges the committment of two persons to establish a new family. Whether you like it or not, same sex couples cannot be considered a family, since they can't procreate, and even their ability to raise healthy children is matter of debate up to this date.
So, should there exist a legal way by which the State acknowledges the union of same sex couples, yes. Should legally bond same sex couples have rights similar to those from opposite sex couples, yes. Should same sex couples be allowed to marry, or should their marriage be equal to that of opposite sex couples, or should their union be called marriage at all, a big NO.
By the way, this legal union among two persons that live together, no matter their genre and or personal relation, exists in other countries and is called cohabitation or coexistence society.

The problem here for us is not the marriage. It's good for them to have a steady partner for sex for several reasons. But a legal marriage means as well the right to have and raise kids. And there's the problem for us.Do we trust the complexity of their sexuality? The whole argument about Gay Rights and such is flawed to begin with. Homosexuals are more interested in FLAUNTING their sexual preferences and THAT pisses me off. Gay Pride parades are disgusting and immoral. 10 foot penises marching down main street?
Marriage is a RELIGIOUS sacrement, such it should NOT be the place of Government to say what is Right and Wrong. If The gays of American want Civil Unions to be legal then they should also push for multiple partner unions to be legal. For the Record I have one spouse and don't want the headache of another.
There are already a large number of people secretly having mulitple partner marriages. Some of those partners are also claiming to be Legal Single mothers and drawing government assistance.
The one aspect of Marriage/ civil unions we Must address is the aspect of children. I believe a child is BEST served if raised by a FATHER and a MOTHER. Two fathers or two mothers does not provide balance, just like a single parent does not provide Balance.

Miss. Californa IS right, the Bible says it is wrong and that a man and women should be married, not a guy and guy or woman and women. If I was in her shoes and wanting to win the crown, I would've answered the same way. Even if it means not winning it. Hilton was mad because of her answer, wekk then, he shouldn't have asked it. I give kudos to her because she stood by her beliefs. And she isn't some dumb bimbo because of it.
350. Objection sustained - April 22, 2009 10:51 AM
The Bible is full of stupid shit. There are passages that condone all kinds of outdated things like slavery and stoning. Anyway the Constitution guarantees the rights of all men and women, you're free not to like it but you have no right to mess with other people's lives. Marriage is a "RELIGIOUS sacrament" to some, and a civil union to others. Stop trying to control other people, you Bible thumpers. And just having a penis or a vagina does not qualify anyone to be a good parent. There are plenty of fucked-up straight couples out there raising fucked-up kids. The argument is moot.

354. pete - April 22, 2009 11:29 AM
Here's why there will never be legal gay marriage in most states:
gay. pride. parades.
We've all seen them, in person and/or on TV. Undeniably, they're freak shows. Sure, you've got plenty of ordinary-looking gay activists in the parade, but you also have cross dressers, S&M freaks, the manliest bikers you've ever seen who turn out to be technically female, giant balloons in the shape of penises, and on and on.
It's who you are, gay folks. Enjoy it, celebrate it, make us tolerate it, but don't expect us to ever accept it as a "normal alternative" because clearly it isn't.
Oh, and while you're at it, hey all you gay men: stop maintaining the spread of HIV in the U.S. - don't try to lie or obfuscate, HIV transmission is down in all demographic groups except gay men. We'd be doing much better in the fight against AIDS if it weren't for you.

360. Abbz - April 22, 2009 12:32 PM
@357, you are right. they have found a biological difference between homo and heterosexual males, in the hypothalamus, which is smaller in a homosexual male than a heterosexual one, and closer to the size of a female hypothalamus. however scientists are hesitant to announce anything until studies prove more conclusive. Also, they have found a 54% concordance rate among biological twins--if one is gay, the other one has a higher chance than the general population of being gay. All of this research, though still in progress, points to a biological difference between gays and straight people that will probably become more sound in the next 10 years.
Basically, all current research points to a biological difference which has not yet been explicitly defined, but probably will be within the next 10 years.
and then we wont have to have this argument anymore

368. Story of the boy who encountered a gay married man - April 22, 2009 1:43 PM
I was walking along a high cliff one day and saw a little boy, all alone and he was crying. I asked him,
"Son, what are you doing up here all alone?" He replied, with tears in his eyes,
"My mum's down there at the bottom. She fell!"
"That's terrible!" I said. "And your dad?"
"He's down there right next to her. He tried to save her and he fell too!"
"That's awful!" I said. We shared a quiet moment there, together, looking out at the sky over that grand cliff. And then, when he asked me why I was unbuckling my belt, I told him, "Son, today just isn't your day."

This whole argument is so fucking stupid it makes my head hurt. Does she have a right to her opinion? Sure she does. Do the judges have a right to their opinion? You betcha. And who's opinion counts in who wins the contest? Survey says...the judges. The judges choose who wins - it's their opinion. And don't tell me its based on ability or other skill that could be measured in some type of realistic way...its a beauty contest! At best your could measure on which plastic surgeon had best skill with the tits and ass.

#367 Bill, I'm just so sick of hearing over and over that "only the Religious" are correct in life. I donate plenty of my time to good causes, only to hear that I'm "selfish" for not having children and "selfish" for not going to Church. I'd like to see some of those Bible a**holes do half of what I or my husband do for others. And don't even get me started on all the selfishness I see from people with children (but I don't say a word because then I'd be the "angry childfree woman" yet they can hate on me all they want).
I'm just so sick of the Religious bullshit being spewed from people who are ten times worse than the people they are bashing. I'm not so pissed at you, as I am at all the so called "Christ like folks" who do nothing but deny fellow human beings the same rights as they have. Yeah, I'm sure that's exactly what Jesus would want.....(rolls eyes).
371. hotsstuffed - April 22, 2009 2:16 PM
personally, i don't think any of the candidates were particularly articulate. The only difference is Ms. California either had the balls or the lack of common sense to give a non liberal and politically incorrect answer, not the one Perez Hilton had hoped for. I think it was a stupid move because she lost as a result and let's be frank here, pageants aren't really the place to demonstrate your intelligence or opinion. you enter a cookie cutter contest, expect to give a cookie cutter answer. It did give her a shit load of publicity though..
372. therush - April 22, 2009 2:17 PM
I hope she also goes into the mountains when she's having her period. You know to be consistent with her loving Christian beliefs. And a question for all the fauxdemntalists. Why do you care about homosexual behavior when Jesus never said anything about it? If you bring up Paul I hope you're fully celibate or otherwise you're a hypocrite.

people ask dumbass questions like the one posed to this woman solely to have some kind of drama in their lives. who really gives a flying fuch what people do in their bedrooms as long as it doesn't involve children. it's no one's business except for the parties involved. swear to God we are far too much up into other people's business, and that's what causes all the stink. are ONLY those who agree with a person allowed to have an opinion? I think this question did not belong on that show at all. they morons who thought it was a good idea to pose it are the ones to blame, and they ask it ONLY to try and create controversy. period.

@271.
Oh Christie, I've only read the Bible with my head? I was actually completely immersed in the bible for 15+ years with my "heart," so I'm sure I know a lot more about the book than you do. Please don't use the "It was a different time" excuse. Tell me in the Bible where it says those laws do not need to be followed anymore because our civilization has evolved since then. Let me repeat myself, TELL ME IN THE BIBLE WHERE IT SAYS THAT. Until then, keep your hair covered when you pray or you're going to hell, and don't forget to bear children because that is your only way of salvation.
Matt 5:
17"Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. 18I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished. 19Anyone who breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. 20For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven.
Let's see what your excuse is for this one.
Best Regards~

#194/329/330/342 Rhialto, could you possibly be any less fucking stupid? No, didn't think so.
Do you wonder what sort of instinct takes over when a hetero dad takes care of his adopted daughter? No, didn't think so. Jackass.
If that's your understanding "of gays" - that most are "fake", they're bored with women/men games and then just go play for the other team because it's easier, and they could also be just hard-wired for kids, you know as much about that topic as Perez Hilton knows about how not to be an annoying douchebag.
#357 Harry Doyle, there's nothing natural about you being a moron and having internet access, either. She couldn't ever have a gay child? Are you fucking kidding me? Now explain to me why hetero parents have any gay kids if it's a "chemical imbalance" that's genetically passed down. So either seemingly hetero dad or mom must be really be gay, or gay men must be secretly breeding with lesbians to create more, right? Better alert all those hetero parents in PFLAG of their true affiliation - or that their real kids were replaced with gay ones at some point, because only that could explain it.
Maybe you and Rhialto should get together. Screw the gay marriage question, I think an IQ test should be required before people like you are allowed to procreate. No child on earth deserves the genetic load of stupid each of you would visit on it.

Men and women are different and this is not a racial or equality issue. Any attempt to make it as such is wrong.
Ms. California is awesome, eloquent or not.

The intolerant left! They support free speech so long as it agrees with their own. Some fag asks a stupid ass question and doesn't like the answer and throws a little fag fit. The left needs the balls to have a disagreement without personally attacking those who disagree with them.

#380 Men and women ARE different, physically, mentally and otherwise. And all men aren't equal when it comes to strength, ability, intelligence, etc. Every one has different potential.
But under the law every fucking citizen of this country, man or woman, is supposed to be equal in terms of their rights - there's the equality issue. Men don't get to vote twice in an election because they're men. Women don't get to pay less taxes because they're women. If I'm smarter than you I don't get any additional benefits for it under the law. The law is supposed to apply equally to all of us, none of us are supposed to be denied opportunities that others have. Get it NOW?

384. Christian girl - April 22, 2009 4:42 PM
Why are we so afraid to offend anyone? In the face of a tough question, Miss California stood her ground based on her Christian faith. If you believe the bible, homosexuality is a sin among many other sexually immoral acts. No gray area there. God loves homosexuals but he makes it clear that he doesn't approve of their sexual behavior. We all sin and God will be the judge when we meet our maker. That is their choice to be gay - it is her choice to be a Christian -(not that its either or there can be gay Christians) we applaud the gays for coming out and being truthful about their lifestyle. Does Miss California not deserve the same respect regarding her faith? I think she does - and kudos to her for not watering down her beliefs just to please the world.
385. cavy - April 22, 2009 4:42 PM
#381 Matthew, it's not her personal opinion that pisses a lot of us off, it's the fact that she wasn't tactful, thoughtful and all encompassing to all Americans.
She alienated many with her tone and jumbled answer. She didn't even answer the question properly. She could have stuck to her opinion without sounding like a hateful bigot. One of the duties of a "MISS" is to be respectful to ALL AMERICANS (you know..."Liberty and Justice for ALL").
She is a terrible figurehead for the pageant and this is why she lost. I agree, that she has the right to her own opinion, albeit a very close minded and ignorant opinion (really, does Jesus condone the alienation of fellow human beings? Not very Christ like if you ask me) , but it was her DELIVERY of the response that has so many angry with her.

to be technical: marriage isn't a law. it isn't even a right. it is a religious ceremony (so all the religion-haters on this site are fighting a paradox). Civil unions are a completely different arguement, however and acceptable in my opinion.
and btw, people are denied equal opportunities all the time. ask the poor kid, the geek, the fat chick, the pimpley-faced teen, etc.... their life experiences (opportunities, if you will) are quite different than those of others.

@365:
And was there any information about the data-set of the study? Did it differentiate between donating time and money to church-led activities and non-church-oriented ones? I would bet not, and that would certainly address the difference what with tithes, church functions, etc. Did it specify which causes? Because I'm sure there are a lot of god-fearing people that donated time and money to political causes as well, such as anti-abortion and anti-gay marriage campaigns, where tolerant and reasonable people wouldn't waste their time and money.
Of course, all of this is secondary. How exactly does any of it invalidate what I said earlier, that the Bible has been used to justify ignorance and prejudice (crusades, inquisition, slavery, wars, etc.) for so long?
@381:
And then there's the intolerant right, who are actively trying to force their ideals, opinions, and prejudices on the rest of us.
The ignorance of both of you speaks volumes.
389. JoeSchmoe - April 22, 2009 6:29 PM
I don't get why a flaming homosexual is asked to judge female beauty. Does he even know what that is, or does a beautiful woman make him run away screaming. He had no business being part of this show. This is Trump trying to get ratings by causing a scandal.
I don't get what is Biblical about prancing around in a bikini for everyone to see, either, but hey, it's a beauty pageant (not a Bible class). Everyone involved is confused- Gays as judges, Christian girls strutting around half naked, and Trump still raking it in.

@263: I so agree with you
391. justifiable - April 22, 2009 7:35 PM
#386 To be technical, you're quite wrong.
Marriage laws DO exist outside the church - marriage is a LEGAL status. Every state has marriage laws and issues marriage licenses for which you have to meet requirements of age, health, and a waiting period. It will not recognize your religious ceremony unless you meet them. The state will also prosecute you if you enter into more than one marriage at a time. If a judge or JP marries you in a civil ceremony, you are considered married by the state and federal government no matter if any clergy approves or not. If your spouse is an alien, the Feds will issue him/her a green card. Your taxes and all other documents will reflect your change in legal status.
And it is every citizen's RIGHT to enter into a binding civil contract as long as he/she is of age, sound mind, and has no pre-existing contracts that prohibit it. A civil union doesn't have the same legal protections under the law as marriage does, so it's an unequal solution.
And if you don't understand the difference between life opportunities and individual potential and a legal right, there's not much hope for you.
392. * - April 22, 2009 8:04 PM

oh, snap, girlfriend!
Your last sentence is incorrect-life opportunities are not equal nor are each individual's potential.

#391 Ever heard of not suffering fools gladly? If you post idiotic statements, don't be surprised if someone calls you on them. You were serious enough about the subject to post when you thought marriage wasn't a law.
Read my "incorrect" last sentence again. Life opportunities aren't equal, and neither is potential. Duh. We're NOT all created equally strong, smart, healthy, beautiful or wealthy. The only place we're equal is under the law, where your rights are just the same as mine. Those rights are the only thing that apply equally to every citizen regardless of those differences. No matter how rich or beautiful you are you can't cast more than one ballot, and no one can prevent you from voting just because you're fat and have acne. You cannot be denied employment or housing based on your color, religion or gender. You have a right to a fair trial no matter how ugly you are and you have the right to free speech in a public forum even if you're the stupidest person on the face of the earth. Those are legal rights.
These are not: You do not have the right to a modelling career if you're 4'9" and 195 lbs. You do not have the right to graduate if you fail all your classes. You do not have the right to become an airline pilot if you're blind. You do not have the right to win that $100,000 hold 'em pot at Vegas if you can't bluff for shit.
Any hope of understanding the difference yet?
396. Bobbin - April 22, 2009 9:29 PM
People who oppose gay marriage need to leave the country, if they want to believe that way, and they can take their ****** Bibles with 'em. Their time is past, and the country would be better off without them.
And I can't wait for the day when it'll be illegal for religious businesses and schools to discriminate against gays. I keep hearing assurances from the left that gay marriage will not bring that about, but I think it will, eventually...and it's going to be great fun to watch. The more discrimination against archaic, obscene belief systems, the better.

There's GOD and there's religion, the latter is completely made up - rules that smarter humans made for dumber humans, knowing they'd be scared out of their minds. GOD has absolutely nothing to do with religion. NOTHING. My God didn't write the Bible, some dudes did. And you are all pathetic for buying that bull. But then again.. whatever makes you happy. No one can force anyone to think something that they don't believe in. I remember in high school a guy from my class wrote an essay on a sensitive topic that he felt strongly about, and on the cover page of his essay he typed - "This is what you want me to think, NOT what I actually think." Maybe Miss California should have said - "I believe in gay marriage because you want me to". That would have been a kick in the crotch.

Everybody has the freedom of speech otherwise she would be in jail or stoned to death already for her comments. The thing is, if you want to win a pageant then you have to be diplomatic and say what they want to hear. In her interview with Matt Lauer, she said that her opinion is more valuable than a possible win in the pageant.
Does it make her a bad person? Absolutely not. She used her freedom to speak out loud what she thought about Perez' question. Do I personally agree with what she said? That is a completely different subject.

Why are there so many gays in the pagent and fashion scene.
I started thinking thats whats so stuffed about modern fashion when both men and women are saying the models are too thin and boylike and not like regular women at all. Its because the guys have taken control of the scene and are turning out gay-friendly ie boy-like women as role models when both hetero men and women know that these kind or models are not appealing but no one can work out why the fashion industry keeps doing it. Its really warped.
Let this be the end of gay judges at hetero flesh fests like miss world.

the bitch did not answer the question that was asked..what she did..was ramble incoherently...and thats why she gets compared to the "such as" chick..cuz they both basically did the same thing...made fools of them selves on TV..BECAUSE they couldnt answer a fuckin question not only correctly but as an educated person
the fact that she "expressed her views" is the only reason why this is still being talked about and not just laughed off because of the nature of the question and her answer even doe it was clearly pulled out the fuckin sky her brain seems to be wandering in
everybody who agrees with her "opinion" is defending her
and everybody who doesnt is bashing her
IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE GIRL HERSELF..face it..all u ppl could care less about the chick you are just happy somebody said on TV what you've been sayin to your buddies every night at the pub
and thats exactly what it is...
the girl is stupid, she should of answered the question she was asked and maybe she would of won

1Co 6:10 nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.
@63
the new testament says Mat 15:11 Not that which goes into the mouth defiles a man; but that which comes out of the mouth, this defiles a man.
So don't be bible bashing christens unless u know what you are talking about.

Go Miss California! Glad to see there's still some good people in California. What a load of crap, about Jesus throwing the first stone. Know your bible idiot before your speak. Jesus said, "you who are without sin cast the first stone". He taught us not to judge, but we are still suppose to stand up for what is right. It has nothing to do with hate? Nothing! I no more hate a gay person then I do a drunk or even a pedifile. However, wrong is wrong and perversion is perversion! Do I "hate" when I disagree with murder or the actions of a pedifile? America, stop this crap before we de-evolve into mud and anarchy. That's what happens when society can not, or is unwilling to, stand by a moral compass.

I am not religious by any means and if asked I would tell you I think two men together is sick...kinda why men and women are built different. If you don't want to hear my opinion, don't ask. I won't force it on you. In the same sense, being a former US Marine, if you want to have a future in the military, DON'T TELL. Believe me, the last thing a guy (normal guy) wants, is to be in the shower and have another guy looking at him...keep it to yourself and hide somewhere. Yuk

Liberals seem to constantly preach acceptance, but when someone does not agree with them they are the most unaccepting group of jerks I have ever heard.
Who cares what Perez Hilton thinks????????? He said he would have taken her crown if she won...I would have loved to see Miss Califorinia punch him in the face for ruining her night!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
As for the Christian aspect...as far as I have seen in my 38 years of life almost all are what I call "line item veto Christians"...they read the Bible and follow what they agree with and veto the rest out. Probably why 99.99999999999999% of us, including most people in church, are going to hell. So her being somewhat hypocritical only makes her MORE Christian! I will say THANK GOD she is straight...she's going to make some guy one lucky MFer!

The gays are out of control--beginning 40 years ago they were given the freedom to openly practice their unnatural lifestyle (as all Americans should have) and what do they do? They openly flaunt it and rub our faces in it. They take over fashion, entertainment and popular culture and push their morals and antics all over our tv, culture and even our schools. In their growing arrogance, they think they can do anything without consequence. A few months ago, they dare to riot and beat up old ladies, christians and mormons who dared exercise their constitutional american right to vote for prop 8 in california. Now this worthless disgusting shit perez hilton (which queer hugging einstein made him a judge?) and all his friends viciously slander, and tar and feather all over the media and blogosphere a nice girl who dares to give an honest answer, thinking they can intimidate the rest of us into silence by making examples of her and helpless old ladies--let them f*** themselves! The arrogant and disgusting antics of militant gays are waking up the silent 95% of America and we're getting angry! Our backlash will be severe!

The gays are out of control--beginning 40 years ago they were given the freedom to openly practice their deviant lifestyle and what do they do? They openly flaunt it and rub everyone's faces in it. They've grown very arrogant, even beginning to believe they can do anything with impunity. They pretty much take over fashion, the arts, entertainment and popular culture, pushing their morality and lifestyle all over our tv, culture and now even our schools. Over the years they molested thousands of little boys (it was gay pedophiles, not heterosexuals who were the molesters) in catholic churchs all over America and deftly had the blame fall on the catholic church, which condemns underage sex, sex outside of marriage and homosexuality. A few months ago, they rioted and dared to beat up law-abiding old ladies, christians and mormons who dutifully exercised their constitutional american right to vote for prop 8 in california. Now this slimy piece of rat shit perez hilton and his self-important gliterati friends viciously slander, and try to ruin a nice girl who dared to give an honest, traditional answer, just because they could. These militant gays obviously believe that they can intimidate the rest of us to acquiesce to their deviant social agenda by making examples of miss california and helpless old ladies and mormons--let them f*** themselves! In their arrogance, they made some big, big mistakes! The arrogant and disgusting antics of militant gays are waking up the silent 95% of Americans who all along either stupidly sympathized with them or just tolerated them holding our noses. And we're starting to get angry! The backlash will be severe!
