Mar 30 2009Madonna's adoption plans delayed
Seen here in Malawi this morning wearing.. camouflage pants and army boots? (Well played, Ambassador Madonna), the pop star's attempt to adopt a four-year-old Malawian girl, Mercy, was delayed by a judge today who pushed the adoption hearing to Friday. The AP reports:
Some child advocacy groups say the 50-year-old pop star's plans to adopt a young Malawian girl have been fast-tracked because of Madonna's money and status. One accused her of acting like a rich "bully."
Meanwhile, a coalition of non-governmental organizations held a press conference in the capital, Lilongwe, criticizing the pop star's latest adoption application.
"Mercy James is a child who has her extended close family members alive and we urge Madonna to assist the child from right here," a statement from the coalition said.
Mabvuto Bamusi, the coalition's national co-ordinator, said they were asking the court to uphold the country's laws and to "fully" assess Madonna's second adoption bid.
You know what? How about Madonna and Angelina, and apparently Fergie now, all have to put the adopting on hold until we handle more dire child problems here in America first? I'm talking safe homes for all the Octo-kids, and the Duggar family is completely sterilized. Or at least half of them are taught the birth canal isn't a cannon for Jesus. I'm willing to compromise.

If the little girl has family in Malawi that are willing to and capable of caring for her, that is where she should stay. If you disregard her wealth, I don't know how Madonna could possibly be considered a suitable candidate to become an adoptive mother.

Does she think that's like Africa Chic? Doesn't she realize that war has destroyed the continent of Africa and a lot of people are emotionally scarred from soldiers and militia who dress like that? What an insensitive shit she is.
11. Rick - March 30, 2009 4:43 PM
I bet she's pissed and I don't blame her one bit. Adopting from Africa is exactly like KFC drive-thru, specifically when you pull up to the window and they've fucked up your order, and tell you you'll have to wait. If I fucking wanted to wait, I wouldn't have slummed it to get something crappy fast at KFC.

I agree with Fish. Why not adopt American babies? These celebrities with all their snobbish politically correct African adoptions, what are they thinking? It's a big deal with lots of cameras when it happens, but then you've got to RAISE the kid when the cameras go away. With these African kids that's like getting a lizard for a pet when you could get a dog, in terms of capacity for learning.
24. justifiable - March 30, 2009 4:58 PM
Anyone who'd take a four year old child away from an extended family thinking that a single parent of a different race, language and culture would be better for them is fucking insane. Adopting a four year old is a lot different than taking on an infant, this isn't some "project" you slap a red thread on and hand off to a nanny while you go on tour or out looking for your latest underage boyfriend. This bitch is a complete megalomaniac. Pick on some kid who doesn't have anything or anyone to lose, where living with you might be a possible improvement, Madge. This kid ain' it.

These are the moments when I close my eyes for a minute and hope that I'll somehow be back in the 1970's. Life really was more simple back then. We knew our enemies and our friends. People like Madonna were divas not politicians dictating policy.
This is a college drop out who sucked and fucked her way to stardom. Pay for play and coercion become footnotes when you have half a billion dollars in the bank. Her curse is that no matter what, she'll never be happy. How many kids and husbands and mansions are enough?

That Lourdes is going to be such a hottie in few years. She looks just like her mom which means 6 years from now she's going to look just like she did in her prime in that Playboy spread from 84 with the pictures from 79. That sexy "Like A Virgin", "Material Girl", "Desperately Seeking Susan" Madonna with the unibrow. I wouldn't be surprised if Madonna isn't secretly planning on pushing her little girl out into the pop scene in the next few years.

Yeah, I know that if I was going to try to adopt a LITTLE GIRL from a war torn African Nation, I'd want to adopt the costume of her oppressors. Nothing makes a first impression bond like frightening the shit out of the kid. Then I could tend to the girl's breakdowns and prove what a good mother I'll be. Then I'll change her name to Sybil.
See, I'm smart like a wolf spider. No, sorry, I meant smart like Madonna.

#30 Well said!
Was it on the Superficial that I read Madonna was saying that her kids complained that she was away working so much and her response to them was, "Do you like all those things I buy you? Well, you only have those things because I work so much."
This, from the woman who preaches Kabbala and won't let her children watch TV, and absolutely forbids them to watch "Rudolf The Red Nosed Reindeer", in an attempt to look like a snooty, holier-than-thou, responsible, Dr. Spock-reading parent, all the while screwing married athletes and then throwing them away and moving on to the nearest little Hispanic boy. I mean, Rudolf is a bad influence, but materialism and one-night-stands are acceptable?
How much do you wanna bet Madonna chose Mercy simply because she liked her name?
42. GuyHolly - March 30, 2009 5:41 PM
#41 you STFU. She is like a virgin. Says so in her song.................

#26 I wasn't referring to money. Yeah, Malawi is a dirt-poor country, but this kid has something, meaning family. Madonna adopted her last kid away from a father who couldn't compete with her financially - there's something really sick about this need to repeat the "they chose me" scenario. #30 is right, it's never enough - just like Octomom with her 14 kids that she needs to give her unconditonal love. Children are not a magic bandaid to fix what's wrong with YOU.
49. SoTe - March 30, 2009 6:08 PM
Why are u judging a woman that is trying to adopt a kid that would otherwise probably starve to death or die of aids. It is insane. I dont care what her reasons are, if she is saving a child from death she's got my vote of approval. I dont think Madonna is doing a bad job with her children. Lourdes is a very smart girl that speaks various languages, she has a great relationship with her mom (if u are a girl and u were ever Lourdes' age, you know it is not easy, at all, to have a good relationship with ur mom), all of them seem well educated and well behaved, I dont think we should judge her because of who she sleeps or doesn't sleep with. If she was a guy there would be nothing to discuss here. Chauvinistic pigs!
50. Napoupi - March 30, 2009 6:12 PM
I'd like to ask : why do all these children she's trying adopt suddenly have parents as soon as she shows up to adopt them ?
I mean, we heard about her adoptive son's father bitching about the adoption process and the proper education to be given to his son, then about the family of that little Mercy girl, apparently bitching along the social services for the same reasons.
WTF ? I don't want to give unconditional support to Madonna's whims or something, but why the f**k do we have to listen to the complaints of parents or "close" (lmao) family members that were obviously putting the child for adoption in the first place ?! Sounds like basic media-whoring on their part, to me...
So leave her alone, and wonder about the true motives of that little girl's "family" instead (i.e. : GEWD MUNNIEZ !!!111)

What the hell? Why the fuck would you go abroad to adopt a child when there are hundreds and thousands of unhappy, deprived, orphaned children in your own country? What, aren't American babies misfortunate enough? Or is it not hip enough for dear celebrities to adopt white kids? Fucking show offs! I hate this. Using children for fucking publicity like that, what could be more disgusting?!

65. Ginger - March 30, 2009 8:20 PM
She probably can't adopt within America because the adoptive selection is way strict. They don't want little kids to go to 'unsavoury' parents such as Madonna.
The fact that she is recently divorced would prevent her adopting in the States straight away. Not too mention fucking a kid half her age as well as a married man. There is NO WAY they would let her adopt...
And she's such a fucken psycho she makes me sick. Doesn't she know she is a constant walking embarassment to herself?
66. name withheld - March 30, 2009 9:05 PM
#49 wahwahwah you can always tell a material girl fanatic. The kid has family and isn't in danger of starving. Madonna wants remove her from her family so Malawi is suggesting if she cares so much for her she should support the family so they can take of the girl THEMSELVES . You can easily "save a child from death" as you so hysterically put it without adopting her in this way. You have no idea what sort of relationship Lourdes has with her mother, you don't live with her and you're not her BFF - her education and languages have nothing to do with this. There are plenty of kids like her who have great education and opportunities up the wazoo but they're not exactly being raised by their wealthy parents. And if a single guy no matter how famous wanted to adopt a little girl on his own there would be a helluva lot of discussion, so shut your cake hole when all you have to offer is idiocy.

Points:
-Malawi is not a war torn country. They've had peace since at least the 60's. It is just very, very poor.
-Most of the children in orphanages, which are really just dumping grounds, have extended family. They are much too poor to care for the children whose parents have died.
-It is extremely difficult to adopt children in the U.S., ESPECIALLY any in the foster care system. My father has tried, and they have so many restrictions. My dad is an attorney, upstanding, but is considered past the age limit, cost notwithstanding.
-However bad orphans in America have it, it can no way compare to the plight of those in Malawi. It's the second poorest country on Earth. I didn't know any of this until this weekend; I watched Madonna's documentary "I Am Because We Are". It's on hulu & youtube now. It was eye-opening and heart-wrenching. It's given me an understanding of what Madonna is trying to do with her Raising Malawi foundation. I recommend it.

76. keira - March 31, 2009 4:31 AM

@Kat: And why do you think it's extremely difficult to adopt children in the U.S. ?
Maybe because all the restrictions make sense !!! Who the hell needs a 3 year old child when you're 50 ??? Eventually the herniated disc will make it very difficult for you to teach your child riding a bike...
If a woman wants to get pregnant with 50 the whole society would scream, no way, not at this age !!! But if Madonna wants to adopt a little girl with 50 that's o.k.??? Nature did good on equiping women with menopause, and I bet she is already in it...
btw...those pants...those boots...who does she think she is ??? Even there's been no war in Malawi since the 60's, these are surely not the right clothes for posting an adoption claim...
77. sin - March 31, 2009 6:32 AM
She doesn't really want kids. She is buying slaves. Her ego is that big that she really beleives she can go into anty country and buy her some young blood. Oh, shit. She is doing that. Do these kids have to call her MASSA?
Since she does not let them watch the news on tv, they do not know they are slaves for an old hag with delusions of grandure. Money sure has corrupted her.

Madonna, if not for cheek implants, Botox, and Juvederm injections, how the hell does your face get fuller and firmer the skinnier and older you get? In the film "Truth or Dare" you made fun of people who got plastic surgery, saying you would always be natural and work with what you have. HYPOCRITE.
86. ekki_skila - March 31, 2009 3:08 PM
I like Madonna's outfit.
In Truth Or Dare Madonna still looked good. It's easy to say you would never do this or that when you dont have that choice to face. She didnt want to age. WHo does? Looks matter. and if she didnt get any surgery done you would complain about that. So who cares?
87. Idontwannamadonna - April 1, 2009 3:19 AM
#73 some of your points are well taken.
You're right, Malawi may not have been directly involved in war since the 60's, but they have seen the horrors more recently- via thousands of refugees from Mozambique in the mid to late 1980's.
I also totally agree with you about adoption here in the U.S.- It is extremely difficult.
And I also agree that we Americans have seen no poverty like that of Malawi, not even our orphans. We can't even imagine it.
But where you lose me is at any defense of Madonna.
Madonna is a sanctimonious creep, who does things for show, not because she really cares. Throughout her career we have seen this activity- she has never had an original idea in her life- she builds on the hard work of others, and then claims it as her own. All the while making huge piles of money.
For that you have to give her props- she is a genius at self promotion.
If this raises awareness of Malawi's plight, that's wonderful, but don't kid yourself that Madonna's not checking out how that Malawi tee shirt looks on her, and how this foundation will affect her taxes, social position, credibility, etc.- now that she's realized that the acting thang just ain't gonna float.
Now- for keira @ #76
Wake Up! Infants aren't the only ones up for adoption! Why can't a person of 50 adopt an older kid? There are many prospective adoptive parents who would be overjoyed to adopt the children that no one else seems to want-
THE OLDER KIDS! They need homes, too. Just because they aren't all new and tiny anymore doesn't mean they need parents any less!
(And I don't think that a 50 year old would be too creaky to take them on...)
For God's sake, 50 is MIDDLE AGE, not old age!
And no, I'm not 50.
But I agree, I hate Madonna and she makes me barf, too.

89. sin - April 1, 2009 8:27 AM
She probably can't adopt an American child because we know she is fucking retarded. There is no way a court in the US would ever let that thing adopt an American kid. That would be considered cruel and unusual punishment.
She only wants to get a black girl so she will have a matching set. Ever hear of a woman wearing 2 different colored shoes?
Now she can breed them and sell them to her cronies as slaves. Madonna is a slave trader now. Think about it. She goes to a foreign counrty, pays off a black person and then buys another black person. Sounds familiar, doesn't it?
90. Tee - April 1, 2009 10:30 AM
#86 - Normally, I'd agree with you: yes, Madonna said she would never have plastic surgery when she was younger and looked good, so it was easy for her to say. But Madonna has always been so hell-bent on proving her intelligence, her sanctimoniousness, and taking pride in her big, pseudo-intelligent mouth, that she should have had the forethought (genius that she is) that her words could come back to haunt her.
And I hear you: no one wants to age. Me included. But I don't have the responsibility of being a role model (although I don't believe she's much of one) to millions of girls/women. She's built a career on being a strong, independent woman who doesn't listen to anyone. If anyone in the public eye should have taken a stand against the media's discrimination against aging women and owned up and accepted, nay, embraced her aging face, it's her.
91. Melissa - April 1, 2009 7:38 PM
#76, you are right, I don't understand women wanting to have children at age 45 and up, but there are lots of grandparents raising their grandchildren out there and doing a great job. I don't think her age is all that relevant considering she is still in great shape. The little girl was obviously put up for adoption to begin with and she went to adopt her and now they are saying "No, the little girl has a family but if you want to help then support her family so they can take care of the little girl?" What? If Madonna just wanted to give someone money she would of done that, she wants to adopt a child. She obviously can't have anymore and while I think it would of been better for her to adopt within the USA, I have heard from a lot of families how hard it is to adopt because of all the restrictions. Yes, some are in place for good reason, however it really is not fair that some people who clearly shouldn't have children can give birth and some people that would make great parents can't have children and also can't adopt in our country. I mean seriously think about it there are 14 year old girls having babies in our country and no one says a thing, they have the right to raise the baby if they can. Yet if someone that is old enough to really take care of a baby and give it everything it needs can't have a baby and tries to adopt they can't because they are single? If they could actually have a baby on their own no one would say anything about them being single. That is what people mean when they say the adoption restrictions in our country are strict.
