I can completely understand why Salma would do this. My wife and I have five children and they were all breast-fed. All our friend’s breast-fed their children also.

It is not weird, it was perfectly natural in the past and kids would call each other milk brothers if they had shared a breast (insert joke). When I was breast feeding my sister also gave birth but did not have a lot of milk so I asked the pediatrician whether I could save milk for my nephew but she said it wouldn't go because milk follows the baby´s growth and changes according to the baby´s needs. So probably the milk salma gave that little dude did nothing for him except calm him down, but it is a cute and lovely gesture though, I would definitely do it.

Formula companies knowingly supply formula and bottles to countries where it is difficult if not completely impossible for mothers to have regular access to clean drinking water and sterilization methods.

I am proud of being a mother and I tried to breastfeed both of my children. Unfortunately I did not make enough milk. Women are being told that they have to work, be beautiful and strong to have respect. The truth is that being a mother should give you all the respect you need. I feel we are so disconnected from what nature drives us that it is hard to be truly happy. I should not have to explain why I should be "able" to stay home with my kids and cook healthy meals. I think that it is sexist that I MUST go make money with little regard to how much work there is to be done at home.

The history of companies creating markets for milk formula in developing countries is atrocious - so many babies end up being far more malnourished and sick than they would have been had they been breast fed because companies like Nestle convince mothers to feed their kids formula that isn't actually complete milk formula for babies.

And @ 76: While it might sound racist to blame Africa's problems on "the white man" the fact remains is that it is COLONIZATION that has created the problems - and the colonists were European. So yes, saying it's the white man's fault is overly simplistic - not all white people were colonists - but the fact remains that all colonial nations in Africa were white. Well considering that I ignore blatant stupidity in favor of clueless, unassuming biases such as yours that go continuously unchecked (I mean who here doesn't know these offensive posts are flat-out ignorant and horrible to read, but you should probably understand by now that these assholes say that shit to get a rise out of people) as I probably won't come back to this post except to check for a reply, you haven't made any kind of argument regarding my being prejudiced. And you still just assumed all the racist comments on this post were from white, U.S. citizens. What, there isn't racism within any other racial group or country? You didn't consider it, you just assumed it. You may not think of it that way, but if you put yourself in my shoes and I sat here and wrote the same bullshit regarding your race and nationality just as everybody seems to do, you would be a tad bit pissed.
