Actually I care about results more than anything and as long as people live in such utter greed in the developped world the results will never be enough to actually change the situation. I have known deep suffering and I am all the better for it. I have an issue with lifestyle and I think it is a huge problem in this world that needs attention. I don't believe it's about giving 5% (because we all have different amounts and for some people 5% means keeping a sickeningly unhealthy amount for themselves). I believe it's about giving and living in a way that is respectful in this world. Just as people have realized it isn't right to be huge poluters in terms of greed it isn't right to be massive hoarders and self serving consumers.
We cannot all live in castles and as long as many people believe they have a right to then many more will live in utter poverty. Angelina is part of the problem, but worse of all unlike the sick pieces of trash like Paris Hilton she masqueredes as a humanitarian. I hate phoniness more than anything at least vapid leeches like Paris Hilton are what they are.
It is repulsive and depressing to see people own multiple mansion that could be used to save lives. Those mansions could be turned into shelters and clinics and the people employed to pamper their rich rear ends could be employed to work in those shelters and clinics which is a much more useful and dignified job than being a celebrity ass wiper. The sickeningly wealthy could still go on shopping sprees, but to buy things for charities and maybe one or two new outfis for themselves not 300. Greed is MAJOR problem in this world and no one talks about it because the media sells greed and we al have a level of greed we must reckon with, but it is a major reason people are suffering in this world and that's why I can't stand to see it go on .

For all the people Angelina has helped with her phony intentions she has encouraged just as many if not more people to want a life of lavish greed, to be enormously shallow and superficial, to think that violence is hot and sexy, to think that if you are hot enough you don't need to respect the boundaries of another persons marriage I could go on. I gave up a career as a model because I didn't want to encourage vanity, unrealistic ideals, anorexia, materialistc greed, and insecurity in other women. For all the "good" she and Oprah and Bono etc.. have done they have done equally if not more harm. It's enormously harmful to live an unbalanced life of pure materialistic greed. I see those excess masnions and I see lost lives. How hard is it to own one home. I feel guilt about returning to a 600 square foot apartment, to know the truth and the suffering of this world and to return to mansions is sick and it's part of the problem.

If celebrites and the wealthy chose (no one forcing just chose like intelligent adults not greedy children whove been given too much candy) to live with dignity and give back the way I have talked about imagine how the world would benefit. Money is needed,it is about money and any delusions otherwisere delusions, money is the only way to pay for vaccines, for food, for housing and education. Wealthy celbrities simply can give tremendous amounts and they could set an amazing example of a dignified life. Instead they are like spoiled little children with too many toys. I agree that a child fed a life saved that is wonderful, but I won't applaud these celbrities for making it possible because I think what they have done with all their wealth power and opportunity is the bare minimum it's the basic humane moral thing to do. Chosing to live modestly and turn all of that greed into change and improvement for this world now that would be impressive.
I have seen both sides and I can promise you, you would be disgusted to see the greed and all the wasted opportunity, the wasted and squandered wealth, food, clothing and posessions that are never used, mansions that are never lived in in a world where children sleep naked and hungry on the streets. Cars that are never driven in a world where a working vehicle can mean a job or lives saved. It's sick and it is part of why the world is so messed up and I unlike the majority will not ignore it. We are fed greed, we are brainwashed into wanting more and more and the more we want and take and buy for ouselves the less others have, the more suffering, the more misery the more unbalanced, dysfunctional, unorganized, hopless, unproductive and unsuccessful this world becomes.
Perhaps these celbrities do encourage people to give, but they encourage just as much likely more greed witth their endorsement of overpriced jewelery and handbags made in developping countries where people are paid next to nothing and with their flaunting of all things material and superficial.

I think you see my point and I do see yours. I get that every life saved and child given food is positive, but it is not an excuse to stick ones head in the sand and accept mediocre efforts and phony agendas and ignore the bigger picture and all the problems celebrity and socitiesgreed is causing. Don't even get me started on how overpaid they are and they know damn well it's true but it doesn't stop them from profitting and taking what they know they have not earned, what they know they do not need or deserve. It's one hell of a screwed up world where a lifesaving firefighter makes $40,000 a year and a celebrity pretending to be a firefighter saving zero lives is paid $20 MILLION.

The fact is I simply refuse to ignore the big picture I want to see change and I am working for it and here I get to vent because sometimes you just have to let it out.

The world deserves better and I will spend my life trying to be part of that in some small way.

As a final example of the problem, Live 8 could have raised BILLIONS, but instead a bunch of privilledged people got free concerts that were supposed to help a continent that didn't even get to hear the music and in the end the musicians who voluntered got increased record sales 9which just benifitted themselves) and the governements didn't change their policies because the sixties are effing over and rocking out against the man is lazy and unproductive hippy bullshit. Had they raised billions by making it a telethon and getting those rich bands to shell out some big bucks the governemnts would ahve seen organized adults standing for change who were willing to meet them haldf way in an effort to eimprove this world. Instead it was a joke that accomplished very little.
If the celebretards really put their money where their mouth is they could drastically change the world and what an incredible example that would set, but instead they want it all; praise and a greedy life.. oh and to talk about their private lives non stop and then demand privacy (but that's another pathetic story in itself). It's a sad world that admires and looks up to these sad people.

I stand by the fact that celebrities do more harm than good ( the good they have done is basic, even foolds say wise things once in a while). The sad part is they could do imeasurable good if only they would really make the best of what they have been given. Hopefully in my lifetime I will see a real honest example of that vision. Someone of tremendous wealth fame and power who choses to live a modest life in one comftorable home and buy fleets of cars for families in need, buy multiple mansions and turn them into women's shleters, clinics and homes for sick and terminally ill children, buy thousands of dresses for girls whose families cannot aford to buy a prom gown, spend the money wasted on vanity surgery to pay the medical bills of families who have been bankrupted by illness I could go on and paint this dream I have that someday I hope I will see. Can you imagine the positive influence a life like that would have. Imagine if all the wealthy and successful people of the world lived that way or even just a fraction, imagine how different this world would be.

#77 - It's so easy to pass judgement on others rather than evaluating your own life. Giving up a career in modeling doesn't prove anything, and the fact that you boasted about it on the internet just further reveals your focus on appearances. I'd love to see what you'd do if someone dropped a million dollars on your doorstep. You'd go on at length about how you're going to give it all to charity and better the world....just after you bought yourself a new car...oh and that dress looks nice...
If you truly want to create change in the world, you should start by not trying to appear modest and generous on the internet by writing 10 preachy paragraphs that barely anyone will see. At least Angelina Jolie is practical. She knows she isn't a world-saving machine and that she can't do it alone, so she continues to make movies so people know her face, and then uses it to her advantage by advocating a worthy cause. For you to waste an opportunity such as modeling - a chance for you to be recognizable, an idol that could get through to people about the unfortunate occurences in the developing world - was just plain stupid, and bragging about it only makes you appear that way too.

@77 It makes sense...you could use the ways of the world (such as modeling) to draw in millions from idiots, then make sure those millions are used for something beneficial. You could be like Gwen Stefani and keep pointing out that it's extremely difficult for her to maintain her fitness level, so people don't expect everyone to look like that with no effort.
