Oct 29 2008Steven Spielberg directs Tom Cruise and an effin' gaggle of celebs in a horribly meta "Get out the Vote" video
Tom Cruise, Will Smith, Justin Timberlake, Scarlett Johannson, Ryan Reynolds, Harrison Ford, Borat, Shia LaBeouf, Tobey MaDumbFace and a shitload of celebrities got together for a follow-up to the "Five Friends" video encouraging people to vote. Jesus, these things have sequels now? At least they got Spielberg to direct. Or, more like, FUCK they got Spielberg to direct. Thanks for the CGI gophers in Indy 4, asshole!
I don't know about you guys, but this was definitely the last straw for me. I am so ready for this election to be over before Ashton Kutcher tells me to vote one more time, and I strangle him with a Kaballah bracelet. I honestly can't wait to wake up on November 5th and learn our next president is... George Bush! Who will undoubtedly declare martial law and proclaim himself "Galactic Umpire" while Natalie Portman gives effortless birth to Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia. You heard it here first.

Hey wait...he didn't didn't describe his true situation when asking Obama his question, did he? And he's kinda dishonest, what with not having a plumber's license and not paying his taxes. And he used to live in Alaska. Funny how he just kinda popped up, on camera, at that event...

I hate this get out and vote campaigns with a furious passion.
What are they intended to do? People who already are going to vote, will do so regardless of celebrities telling you that you should. People who aren't going to vote are the only ones this is aimed at. News Flash: If you're not educated on the issues/candidates, you SHOULD NOT VOTE.
Voting is not like giving blood. You're not HELPING by just throwing a vote randomly at someone. If you don't know anything about the election DON'T VOTE. If you're a moron DON'T VOTE. If you can't decide who to vote for by now DON'T VOTE!!!
You owe it to the nation to do your duty and stay the fuck home and watch Oprah. That's the best thing you can do on election day.

"Who was the real culprit behind this? Barney Frank."
Yeah, right on, brother. Greedy immoral Wall Street bankers had NOTHING to do with it. It was government - more exactly, Democrats - who did it. And they did it directly, every bit of it...somehow. I just know they did. Nothing was due to the choices and actions of the deregulated money gluttons on Wall Street, who are glorified brokers like the stiff who shows your house to people in exchange for taking a slice of the sale. Well, with one exception - real estate brokers are making a lot less money now, while bonus pay on Wall Street is at the same level this year as it was last year (don't be surprised, it's got very little correlation with actual merit).
If Obama is elected we will lose this Republican focus on personal responsibility. All of the hard work of people like Larry Craig will be lost, and we'll be left with celebrity role models like George Michael, a man who looks for anonymous sex in public bathrooms. Disgusting.

Congress almost always has a lower approval rating than the president. And in a large majority of congressional races, the Democratic candidate is leading. So the "ha ha ha" is on you.

If the speed limit was eliminated and 99% of the drivers used a safe speed and 1% drove at recklessly high speeds and caused lethal crashes, those drivers would be responsible for those accidents and deaths. It would have been a dumb idea to eliminate the speed limit, but the people who did that weren't the 1% of drivers who decided to take risks and potentially kill people.
I blame the Wall Street fucks and nobody else.

Maybe Ryan Reynolds isn't American, but how can anyone think that this election is only relevant to Americans? The current American "president" dumb fuck affected the entire world with his idiocy. So yeah, the international community is concerned. I think that's fair. Why shouldn't a Canadian (neighbor to the US no less) care about the election? I think the entire world is watching. And if the whole world could say it - they would ask that you vote please.
60. friendlyfires - October 29, 2008 6:16 PM
Will Smith, you're father is full of shit. If I don't vote, I have EVERY right to complain. You jackasses voted the assholes into office. You jackasses created the problem. Therefore, YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO COMPLAIN.
WHEREAS, i STAYED HOME, did something productive, watched you jackasses pick the wrong lizard, AGAIN, I have EVERY right to complain.
I like one of the candidates, he'll probably work hard and do the best he can, but wind up disappointing a lot of people but cover up his mistakes with fairy dust and cellophane and you all will buy that crap.
BUT I'M NOT VOTING.
You know what happened when the liberal democrats encouraged millions of people to vote four years ago? Republicans got off their asses in record numbers and voted the douche bag back into office by a clear majority. You think Obama is still gonna win this? He may be super likable, smart and fully capable for the job, but American voters are the worst vetters when it comes to screening applicants for the job. I don't want to drink a beer with a guy responsible for launching nukes, I want this guy sober and clear minded. But seeing as you are all determined to march happily into the arms of Armageddon, aloha and good riddance, America.

Never have so many dorks emanated so many rays of smug self-satisfaction...at least not since the last election.
Obama has spent his life climbing the socioeconomic ladder, attending the right schools, and connecting with the "right" people. The White House is the next stop on his personal "Lifetime Goals I Want to Achieve." His list of friends and social cohorts is a list - almost exclusively - of the wealthy, rich, and well-connected - it amazes me that some of the most disadvantaged people I know think he will understand their situation, let alone care enough to try to fix it. He will take America out of its leadership position - what little remains - and try to make it a "peer" of other nations, treating foreign relations like a popularity contest (and why not? it's gotten him this far.) which seems risky to me, considering some nations who will only be happy if America is obliterated. (exhibit: 9/11 attacks). Keep in mind, Obama was voted most liberal member of the Senate in 2007 - beating out Ted Kennedy. And Hillary.
John McCain, after surviving POW camps, is the one candidate who will take war seriously, who understands firsthand what it does to our soldiers and their families because he has lived it. I trust him to put the condition of our troops ahead of the finicky opinions of people overseas. McCain, I hope, understands that not everything in life is a popularity contest.
Presidents don't really make the laws, either, people. They do run the military. You want a desk jockey like Obama on that?

# 34 you are an absolute disgusting piece of shit. Before McCain was running for president, he was a soldier (just like so many of the people many of us know). He was a POW for 5 + years and was tortured every day and he did it for our country. You can't respect him as a politician, respect him as a soldier. If you still can't do that, you should get your disgusting, liberal ass the hell out of this country. If you can't show respect to the men and women who ensure our freedom and opportunity, you don't deserve to be here.
With that said, this is only the beginning. Nancy Pelosi and the rest of the Dems in Congress, are try to pass the "Fairness Doctrine" to ensure media outlets of fair and balanced coverage. Another words, they want to stifle the 1 news network and Elisabeth Hasselback of speaking, so we can hear their liberal bs for the rest of our lives.
Lastly, I really don't want these immoral, I've been to rehab 3 times, jail 5, have 4 kids with 3 different people and refuse to marry any of them celebs telling me who to vote for. I live in the real world, with my bills and barely anything income. I don't need some assholes who make 1 billion + a year telling me to vote. They have no idea of the real world. @69 Congratulations for knowing that Canadians were in Afghanistan and that the British were in Iraq. That's more than I expected. Oh, but minus points for insinuating that they were drafted into the U.S. Armed Forces and that still doesn't explain where your "invasion of Britain" comment came from.
P.S. not voting for McCain either or for an invasion of Iran. Just sick of the insipid followers of Obama who know nothing about him because he never left a paper trail and the media didn't deem it important enough to check out. Instead we get Hollywood PSA's that you lap right up.
One of Obama's mentors, Saul Alinsky, said this in his 'Rules for Radicals', "You must speak the language of the middle class...in order to destroy it."
Think about that the next time Obama talks about supporting the middle class.

Love that they threw in some non-Americans... who, I'm sure are frustrated to hell that although you supposedly have the 'right' to vote but still have to do some register thing? Seems anti-productive and antiquated by today's technological standards. There should be no reason for it ... in other FREE countries it works like this: you're a citizen of voting age then your name is automatically in the system - you have the right to vote - vote - done.

The fact that there's actually people out there voting for a ticket where Palin may actually be retarded is mind boggling. @82 you went from "Orlando Bloom is in the video because he doesn't want his country invaded by the United States" to "puppets and shills". Way to back down. Neither candidate is going to change that. I'm no fan of McCain, but if you want the United States to eventually resemble a Soviet block country, vote for Obama and a Democratic super-majority in Congress. We'll all be looking back on the "poverty and despair" of 2008 with fondness compared to that bleak future.

3 Quick question for Americans...
1. Ryan Renolds is from Canada - should he be talking about American elections?
2. Why the hell does your election take so long??? In Canada, elections are talked about for approx. 4 months, and the whole process takes about 8 hours on election day...

Number 71 said it best and 74 nailed down the anger.
And number 81, yes all American conservatives are just like the ones you see in the Superficial. Because that is where we go to get all of our news. I hope this does not make you feel saddy-pooh again.
While it's cute that you think you know something about the U.S. and you argue that we must vote for Obama because your country is dependent on us, doesn't that tell you something about your own government? Take some personal responsibility asshole. If anything bad happens it's always blame America. Blame Canada!
Beyond the fact that McCain isn't Bush, there are principles those on the right are not willing to change because they have moral conviction.
Most don't want partial birth abortion. Do you know what that actually is? It's actually real birth, and then they kill it/fetus/LIVE BABY. Look it up. Double speak. Most don't think of a potential baby as a "punishment" as Mr. Wonderful said.
We also don't want socialism. That's why they're equally pissed off at Bush, who doesn't represent conservative ideals and spends money like it's his. So quit with the Bush crap. Bush let everybody down. All say this though, he has bigger balls than Gore or Kerry have and those pussies would have us bombed for fear of hurting the feelings of the international community.
They also don't want a man who associates with terrorists and all the indoctrinated morons of supposed "higher education."
First Obama said he wouldn't tax anyone under 300k or so, then it was 250k, then 150k according to Biden the other day, and now according to Obama's pathetic infomercial it's 200k. This motherfucker lies, pulls the race card every chance he gets, and cheats like his life depends on it and then has the audacity to charge other side with the same thing. It's called projecting. It's also called manipulation. What the hell does change mean? What politician doesn't seek "change?" Who has a platform of I want everything to be exactly the same and totally fucked up as is? Nobody.
The other countries will never understand the U.S. citizens who are against Obama and his cult. Socialism isn't a bad word anymore, so you can't reason with these people. They embrace socialism. They'll tell you how great their health care is, how wonderful things are without handguns, how it's all for the greater good. Hitler took away guns from everybody too, and he had all kinds of thoughts about the common good. He preached change too. That was a total success eh? What other socialist experiments can you point to with this much success?
It's a fight for maintaining a way of life people. Capitalism has it's downs but it is far better than socialism.
I'm done.
Flame away.

Ok seriously how fucking Leftist is Hollywood.
It’s always the scientologists, mega super rich (where raising taxes on them wouldn’t matter), people who are KNOWN to have absolutely no morals (cause they get divorced constantly and do drugs and cheat) and FAGGOTS who want Obama to become president.
Oh and lets not forget the Blacks. WTF they are the most frikkin racist people ever. Can you imagine voting for the President of America, the most powerful nation in the world based on something moronic like skin color?
I mean seriously, the man claims to be Christian, though he clearly favors Palestinians who want to take over Israel (terrorists), PARTIAL BIRTH ABORTION, a minister who was anti-America and anti white!
HELLO PEOPLE open your fucking eyes. Its as if white people in this nation have been brainwashed into thinking they are bad and that they somehow owe black people something.
As for cutting taxes for the rich, if you lower the taxes on everyone, clearing rich people would be saving more percentage wise because they are paying more out in taxes percentage wise...RETARDS!
Also, I don't want my taxes to go to paying for more poor, and illegal people's health insurance. I have my own medical bills. Most people can afford insurance or get Medicare somehow. If you’re illegal, oh fucking well, maybe if you paid some taxes I'd feel bad for you. If you’re too dumb to get some kind of certification or education to get a job so you can have benefits well then suck it, don't go looking for handouts!
Mexicans, stop sending our country's money to your dumb ass relatives in other countries YOUR FUCKING UP OUR ECONOMY!
Voting just to get some Black guy in Office is the most ignorant selfish thing you can do. Oh and only reading extremely leftist news columns is moronic too.
Gays Marrying is a disgusting abomination!
Obama is going to ruin this country. At first as soon as he is elected it is going to seem like he’s fixing things but that won’t be because of him, it will just be the natural flux of things. People are so stupid its painful, just educate yourselves and stop feeling bad for every lazy jerk off.
90. shanipie - October 29, 2008 10:19 PM
Oh and BY THE WAY
After 911 everyone was dying to pin GWB of associating with Terrorists, couldn't really prove a damn thing.
Holy shit if bush had said and done and been associated with half the shit that Obama has he'd be impeached and probably investigated heavily for treason.
Also if any of your War hating losers would actually read some fucking text about it you'd know that 70% of soldiers are voting McCain, yeah really seams as though they hate what they've been doing.
Oh yeah cutting bac on military will help this country, right.
Our troops haven't acheived their goals yet, which is helping the shitty less fortunate countries, isn't that what all you democrats want anyways? Pulling them our now would mean the ones who died and missed time with their loved ones did it for NOTHING. All their efforts will be lost.

"3 Quick question for Americans...
1. Ryan Renolds is from Canada - should he be talking about American elections?
2. Why the hell does your election take so long??? In Canada, elections are talked about for approx. 4 months, and the whole process takes about 8 hours on election day...
Just askin'"
-----
1. Anyone can have an opinion even if they, legally, can't vote. (Or, maybe he can. Maybe he's now a citizen? Although, that seems unlikely.)
2. Many Americans ponder that very question... Also, if you can't tell by the dumbass who's in office, Americans don't like things that make sense. (Sometimes I wonder if we exist just to piss off the rest of the world.)
And, btw, anyone here who really thinks Obama is a socialist needs to pick up a real (not FOX News approved) political science book. Or, hell, read some of Marx's work. Obama may be leaning (very slightly) to some social democratic ideas (i.e., systems like France, Sweden, which are NOT socialist countries) but he's a far cry from a Marxist.

I don't care who you vote for. Just go out and vote. Look at the available people and to your best understanding, make a choice of who you feel represents what you most closely want for your country.
Go out and vote.
101. Dude - October 30, 2008 4:38 AM
Obama Mania will come to a halt next Tuesday.
He has biased papers and TV cheering for him and covering up the fact he isn't a citizen and diminishing the terror ties...
He will lose.
Right now, Hizbollah is training Venezuelan troops...the Russians are meeting with Islamic leaders...China has 4x the army of the US...we do not need a Marxist Muslim with the codes to nuclear missles, sorry.
Oh, the bailout was crap, blame is on both sides.
102. 1moreidiotintheworld - October 30, 2008 8:21 AM
Hollywood must think that we are incredibly retarded.... that they need to tell us to go out and vote. My right to vote also includes my right NOT to vote, and after seeing that 4 minutes of sewage, the only thing that would make me go and vote is Scarlett cutting loose with them big bouncing titties and stuffing them into the camera. It's sad that they think they have any sway over us just because we make them into gazillionaires by watching their shitty movies.
They just want more votes for the future dictator of the United Socialist States of America - Obama.....
And you foreigners can all go fuck off.... If it wasn't for America you all would all be living (or dying) under Nazi rule!!!! Who needs your filthy rabble crawling and scrabbling by the millions to get into this country anyway???? Just sit at home and wait for the next military regime to overrun your country, enslave and kill you..... don't worry though - we'll spend trillions and many lives to save your worthless asses anyway..........
103. Monty - October 30, 2008 8:49 AM

@75
He was not tortured every day that he was a POW, in fact after he revealed to his captors that his grandfather was a respected admiral, they treated him pretty well. You have pathetically swallowed his carefully crafted image as a disciplined soldier when the reality is that the only difference between him and GWB is that Bush was a better pilot. His military record, and the statements made by his fellow servicemen, show that he was a spoiled, insubordinate, womanizing piece of crap with a bad temper. You go ahead and believe what you want...I pity you.
106. eurotrash - October 30, 2008 9:27 AM
aight so let me get this straight;
according to some of the highly intelligent people here Obama is an
elitist/socialist/ marxist/ terrorist/baby killing muslim
who intends to destroy america (and israel!!) by joining in the global popularity contest and stealing all your money.
Clearly, he's right up there with Hitler...thank god us foreigners have such brilliant well informed minds here to point out just how dangerous this man really is.
107. Trig Palin - October 30, 2008 9:42 AM
I like how they had the one fat hillbilly saying I'm voting for gun control to make the video appear bipartisan.
108. Nexera - October 30, 2008 10:05 AM
@63- You must be from Eastern Canada. Look at the successful, booming west- which is conservative both provincially and federally. Hmmm...
I'm all for western separation as the east is dragging this country down. GO ALBERTA GO!
109. Canadian Idiot - October 30, 2008 10:21 AM
@108-
Western separation?? You're a fucking moron. What would you do without the rest of the country to trade with?
110. Plixtle - October 30, 2008 10:46 AM
"John McCain, after surviving POW camps, is the one candidate who will take war seriously, who understands firsthand what it does to our soldiers and their families because he has lived it."
John McCain was a soldier, plain and simple, just like a heap of others. He screwed up, got captured, lived through it and now he is "the only one who understands war"? Simple-minded bullshit.
Woodrow Wilson was a professor and college administrator, and somehow he guided us successfully through WWI.
FDR never saw a day of combat in his life and somehow we did just fine in WWII.
Quite trumpeting empty party lines fed to you by your bipartisan quote-factory. McCain's PoW status indicates one thing: he screwed up and got caught. It won't make him a better president.
Honestly, I think both of these candidates have something good to bring to the table, I'm just tired of seeing people trumpet the trailer-park education sound bites like "OMG OABAM IS A MUSLIM!" snd "McCAIN WAS A POW ONLY HE CAN LEAD US!". Think for yourself, there are more important things in this election than the surface-level BS the media wants you to talk about.
Prime example from another dipsh1t:
"He (Obama) has biased papers and TV cheering for him and covering up the fact he isn't a citizen and diminishing the terror ties..."
The fact that people who actually think that shit have the power to vote is enough to make me chuck on my own shoes.
111. Rant - From Ontario! - October 30, 2008 10:52 AM
The West could seperate with more ease than Quebec. And they could trade with the US, Mexico, Great Britan, China and so on. You think they only trade or sell their Oil to Eastern Canada?
And the Americans are now thinking why are the fucking Candians discussing their politics here.
112. wowzers - October 30, 2008 10:58 AM
Wow, your poise and expansive vocabulary of insults definitely changed my mind. I'm going to take you and your in-depth reasoning seriously.
McCain isn't the only one who can lead us - no one is saying that; both can lead us. I'm just not excited about the direction in which I see Obama leading the country.
And if war experience doesn't qualify someone to guide the country through way - and it's possible that it may not - what experience does Obama have that makes him qualified to guide us? Is it that he is a Senator? Please tell me that;'s not your reasoning. McCain is also a Senator.
To take a page from your book, I'm equally tired of people (like the celebrities in this video) trumpeting empty, emotion-based reasons for supporting Obama. I want something solid and fact-based from Obama and his fans, before I'll listen to him. "Change" is far too vague (and also something that many historically infamous leaders have promised their rabid followers). Obama speaks well, presents himself well, and avoids taking a solid stand on anything that might force him to express an unpopular opinion. If you have any solid evidence that can prove me wrong, PLEASE let us all know. Unlike Obama followers, I'm open to reasoned, fact-based analysis of the candidates.
113. Yassir - October 30, 2008 11:17 AM
Speilberg, the guy who stuffs a suffering Jew plot into everyone of his movies, is selling out his own people and voting for Osama bin Obama?
Speilberg, don't you know this muslim radical wants you dead????
If you ask me the Nazi's killed too few of you traitors. We send our brave men over to rescue your sorry asses from Hitler, and this is how you repay us????
Fucking jew scum. 6 million of you fucks killed? That's one helluva Army, do you think one of you pussies could've pick up a stick or a shovel or knife or something and fought back? Goddamn pussies, we should've let you all fucking die....
114. KAT - October 30, 2008 11:58 AM
So, not only was this totally annoying but it was probably funded by Obama himself. You know the guy with the never-ending flow of money. After his 1/2 hour add last night I can see that he would be the "hollywood" president. All about photo ops and how he looks. Give me a break.

Who cares how we get people out to vote?! Every citizen of this country has a right and we should be proud to excersize that, not spend time bitching about PSA announcements and whos in them! I cant wait for this election to be over so all the people who DIDNT vote can start bitching about who won and I will feel justified when punching them in the face. GO VOTE!!

#110 - Thank you.
The Superficial Webmaster - will you be doing anything about #113's post or is anybody allowed to spew any kind of race hatred they want on this site?
Thank you to people on this site who post (semi) rational arguments; there are too few of you.
To the rest (and unfortunately, the majority) of you: I look forward to reading about you in the paper someday. Because if the only way you can make your point is by name-calling and vitriol, no one will listen to you, you'll grow increasing pissed off and frustrated, and eventually the only way to make your point will be to do something incredibly stupid. I know that most pissed off "i'm-right-and-your-wrong" persons don't have access to commercial jets, so it'll probably be something more like: "Town shocked by killing spree", or "Authorities still looking for motive in random slayings".
Or maybe you'll calm down for a moment, set aside your automatic response for 3 seconds and actually LISTEN to someone else's point of view. Which might be cool, since you live in a world of people, not all of whom share your views (shocking I know, but consider the possibility that the Almighty has not yet declared YOU the only one with the "right answers").
122. Danklin24 - October 30, 2008 4:39 PM

The only reason blacks are voting for Obama is because he's black.
Get a clue. The blacks are the real racists.
99% of black people couldn't begin to comprehend politics, economics, deplomacy, or the tax structure. Since the only ones who pay taxes are athletes and entertainers.
99% of blacks are voting Obama, that's true racism. At least they stick together. Too bad there's alot of brainwashed self-loathing Whitey's out there who feel compelled to elect the tar-baby.
I can see it now, the White House painted purple and orange, plastic on the furniture, Popeye's Chicken the national food, and Obama's face on Food Stamps.....
