Yep, they made a mistake in that statement. "....when I decided that I was going to take my first public stance in support of a candidate, I made the decision not to use my show as a platform for any of the candidates." She forgot the word "other" before candidates in the last sentence.
So it's her show and she can have who she wants but it sure would've been nice to show all the candidates whether you support them or not because it makes for a good show and will increase the audience. Oh it's been decided all right. Two-term presidents who leave the country in an economic recession/depression always give way to the opposition party. The only exceptions are when a war is begun at the end of the term, and of course if the opposition candidate gets mired in an extreme scandal. Palin's the only one who's got potential scandals going on, and Iraq has quieted down quite a bit, at least from the perspective of the American public. Meanwhile, economically things are getting worse not better, with no end in sight. Inflation and unemployment are both going up, together referred to as the "Misery Index". That combo makes ordinary citizens acutely aware that the economy is going badly, unlike other times when, say, huge debts are accumulating in some seemingly abstract way. A high misery index drives incumbents out of office by putting voters in the mood to blame and punish. McCain voted with the incumbent president 95% of the time, so he can't escape the blame. The misery index is a monster. There won't be any other issue big enough to counteract it.
