The reason she is leaving is because she is rumored to be on the office spin-off which starts filming after january 1. Major loss to SNL but we'll still be able to find her on TV.

The show went down the tube when Tina Fey and her Husband took over as head writers. She turned a funny show into a boring, not funny at all, show.

SNL was best during the early 90's, friggin they had PAT, Canteen Boy, Toonces the Driving Cat, Middle Age Man, Unfrozen Caveman Lawyer, Wayne's World, Sprockets, Deep Thoughts by Jack Handy, Stewart Smalley, Motivational Speaker (Chris Farley)....

Plus there was a spike in the unemployment rate last month, to 6%. Not a problem. Fuel prices are fairly steady now, they're simply higher than lots of folks can afford. No biggie.

Uh, it's insane to say everything's fine. Oil prices are going to stay high and the heating season is approaching rapidly. Banks are in the process of going back to risk-averse policies in a huge way, likely over-compensating as they historically have. Real estate at best will bottom out and stay there for awhile (see previous). The unemployment rate will continue to increase (most predictions are for it to increase over the next 6 months). Net result: consumer confidence and spending will go even lower than it is, culminating in a holiday retail season that will cause a lot of businesses to close. It seems like people can't bring themselves to say the word, but: recession. That's what we're sliding into, slowly and steadily, with multiple factors supporting the slide. Sure, it's a great time to buy stocks if you're rich. It's a shitty time for the other 90% of America.

#31 - Yeah, I've noticed another pattern. Bush leaves office in 1992 during economic hardship for most Americans, with unemployment at 7.3%. Clinton takes over and for 8 years economic conditions improve continuously and unemployment drops continuously. Another Bush leaves office in 2008 during economic hardship for most Americans, with unemployment at ___ (probably between 6-7%)...Too bad the Dems didn't nominate Clinton, at least then if we have to repeat history endlessly we'd have 8 years of economic growth to look forward to.

@30 - I never said everythings fine, just stating facts, but I disagree with you. Im doing better than I ever have in my life and Im not rich by any means. As a matter of fact, the industry Im in is the last thing that would be doing well if we were in or near a recession, and weve done better every month over prior months (year before) over the past 3 yrs. Im in the extreme sports industry (snowboard/skiing/surfing).

I simply dont care about the people who took risks and lost. The same way I dont care about idiots that want to "stick it out" when a hurricane is coming their way , then expect the government to rescue them during the storm because they are getting flooded etc.

The computer and pharmaceutical industries took off while he was in office and he reaped the benefits of every mentally deranged person thinking there was a drug out there to cure them and the fact that everyone decided to buy a computer to have in their house. After Richardson's visit, Petroleum Intelligence Weekly, an industry newsletter, quoted Saudi officials as wanting "a price of $18 to $20 as soon as possible."

In 1999, then-President Clinton pressed OPEC to raise prices in order to finance the brutal Russian war in Chechnya. Clinton needed Russia's help settling that pesky little war in Kosovo. However, Bill was unable to aid Boris Yeltsin directly because of the rampant corruption inside Moscow.

Clinton quietly used OPEC oil diplomacy to supply Russia increased energy profits. The influx of cash into Moscow was mainly obtained through Iraqi oil sold by the U.N. and distributed through Russian suppliers. So yes, he inherited a 4% unemployment rate with a forthcoming recession being passed down.

Amy Poehler ceased to be funny after UCB. She became concerned with looking cute and hamming it up on SNL in order to get movie deals, rather than concentrating on serving the scene and being FUNNY.

And I hate anyone who thinks it's cool to say "nobody's funny on SNL". They must not be watching because Kristen Wiig, Will Forte, and Bill Hader are 3 of the best cast members of the past 20 years.

Oh well, too bad. I liked her, but I ain't gonna grieve about it. Kristen Wiig is funny. Maybe Lorne will FINALLY start bringing in some good people and fucking re-tool the show. PLEASE Lorne. If you still care, you will do that.

I also forgot to mention that Fred Armisen is fucking awesome and needs to be featured way more on the show.
