Being unable to get out of bed does not sound like laziness to me. It is a pretty common symptom of depression though , and of them republicans.

Just take little steps - but I totally agree with the others. If you can get up, have a shower, get dressed and get outside it will help. Exercise is also very good for depression (if that's what it is) - just taking a walk, even if it's a short one.

I have had times this year when I've found it hard to leave the house - I am a real homebody, and I think it is my coping mechanism. But I find when I do it, I do feel a lot better about myself. I did wonder for a while if I had depression, but I think it was more to do with a lot of changes I was coping with this year. I have had a small setback, but I am still working on it.

But please go and talk to your GP. It could be any number of things - but I would be very surprised if it were laziness LOL

Without it, states with a larger population, which are mostly the coastal ones, namely CA, NY, FL, would be the major dictators of the presidential race. Meaning, one could ignore all of "fly over country" win those states in a major way and a few minor less important ones and win the presidency in a popular vote. Basically, reducing everyone else's voting power to nothing, since there are quite a few states with populations that are dwarfed by the populations of coastal cities! The electoral vote insure that the candidate needs to appeal to the entirety of the US, moreso than his rivals. Which was revealed in the Bush/Gore event. There Gore did appeal largely to the coastal states, while Bush had a larger number of "fly over states"/belt buckle states. In the end Bush "appealed" to a broader base of people, Gore got liberals, who live in coastal states.

#300 You don't have to listen to the news to know that #299 has it right. I live in GA. You can't imagine how many work places are hiring. In the ghetto when youdrive through you can see the same welfare recipients in the same old ghetto, day in and day out ,through the years. There is no reason to not have a job. I can go out and find a 2nd job very easily if I have to.
The problem is you can't weed out the bums and crackheads from the elderly and ill. It would be discrimination if we tried to do that. Then there will be a great lawsuit for the blacks who were denied the benefits.

Democracy and Communism are two types of socialist orders, both feature majority rule as their template. What this country has forgotten is that it is a Democratic Republic, with civil liberties for the individual that can override the will of the group.

That said, you'll never be able to out-tax the rich, it is a futile effort. Anyone who is super rich usually has some sort of industry or service. You raise taxes, they subsequently raise prices for services rendered, or lower wages/benefits/charities. There is no way around it, it is a pyramid scheme, all prices changes eventually settle to the bottom rungs of society. Here is a good example. The amount of Coke-A-Cola you could get in a bottle in the 1930s and now is about the same. Back then the container was made of glass not aluminum-alloy cans, the change would reduce the cost of manufacture. Also, as time progresses, the cost of manufacture of a product decreases with new technologies. Still in yet, the cost of a bottle of Coke is substantially higher than the nickel it cost in the 1930s. Why? New government regulations, not just on them, but on the people who supply them their materials as well. New government checks, new offices, new taxes, new rules, inflation [government sponsored event] all equal new final price of product.

You want to help the elderly, the ill, fine. However, there are alot of people in the social program who really have no business being there, black and white alike. They are there because they don't have as many options as those who are not there. They are option-less, because they are uneducated. They are uneducated, because our government funded schools didn't educate them. The government didn't do its job, as usual. Before you can start talking about helping the society, you need to eliminate most of the do-nothing government institutions that exist and tell those that don't meet a certain standard of performance that they will be fired, just like any other job. However, a government position is the only one where someone can function in the red and not suffer a pay cut or termination. With that type of dysfunction, you could throw all the money in the world at the system and it would still be piss poor, because it is not a money issue, it is a management issue. Take the push for National HealthCare, a good idea. However, I can't support it because it would be handled by our incompetent government, so I know they will just bungle it. The proof is everywhere. Social Security, which was originally just a National Retirement Program, is bankrupt, has been bankrupt, and will cease function, bankrupted. Why? Mismanagement, someone used social security funds for purposes outside of social security, changing the system from one where the money you are paid was coming from money you invested into the system, to one where the money you are paid is money that is coming from people paying into the system now!! The reason it is bankrupt is because there are more people heading into retirement [baby boomers], than are in or heading into the work force. Otherwise, the government would still bey lying about the system, saying it is functioning the same way it always has.

Ultimately it appears that America will have to completely run into the ground, where it cannot possibly get any worse, before it gets any better. The first, and possibly, the only overhaul needed is in how this government runs itself.

If you still don't think there is a problem? Then let me ask you this, who here would spend several millions of dollars to get a job that won't even break 400k in income in 4 years? That money has got to be recouped somehow, from somewhere, no one is just chalking that up as a loss and moving on. Think about it.

The elite 3 percent of Americans that make 300,000 or more a year get the greatest tax breaks. Have the elite pay more taxes to pay for such things as social programs, not the people making less than 300,000 a year.
