What if he had been clean for a while and died as a result of his past mistakes (ie: he had damged his body (mainly heart) through past drug use and then due to his insomnia his heart finally gave out, extreme insomnia can be deadly it can also cause cardiovascular disease (it appears his insomnia went on for a long time and was quite severe) so it is entirely possible that previous damage to his heart coupled with severe ongoing insomnia (sleeping only a few hours a night) caused cardiac arrest. Doesn't the fact that he tried to change make a difference?

If it turns out that he was not clean and sober for a year or more as it has been reported then I would refer you back to the above portion of my comment and comment #101.

Recovery from addiction either never happens or takes a huge amount of time and pain, and nobody on here knows whether heath was at that stage or not.

I feel sorry for Heath Ledger's loved ones. Being a mom myself, I can only imagine the heartache they must be going through losing a child. Being a daughter, I couldn't imagine losing one of my parents. Granted, obviously I'm older than Matilda (duh!), but I know from my mom's experience with losing her dad at an early age (she was 5 & he was 29), although she does have memories of him, she would love to have known him as an adult.

With that said, obviously someone famous dying is going to be sensationalized because everyone knows who they are. These people are in our faces everyday because of the paparazzi, their work, their shenanigans, etc. They have a "pampered" life because they can afford to buy practically anything they want to, have nannies, housekeepers, yachts, mansions, expensive cars, etc but they also have the downside of being in the public eye 24/7. And I think one thing we can all agree on is money doesn't buy happiness - we think it will but time & time again we see it doesn't. And it's all relative - the more you make, the more you spend.

I don't watch either show (I just saw this clip on Youtube the other day) but I think Montel Williams said it perfectly on Fox & Friends when he refused to indulge in the hoopla over Heath Ledgers death. His point was that our troops die every day - for US - and the media doesn't mention their names or what they've accomplished in their lifetimes. These people are mothers, fathers, sons, daughters, brothers & sisters too. But we don't sensationalize it - we don't even know their names or their background. UNFORTUNATELY it doesn't sell like celebrity turmoil.
