Jan 22 2008Heath Ledger found dead
Heath Ledger was found dead today in a New York City apartment owned by Mary-Kate Olsen according to the New York Times:
At 3:31 p.m., a masseuse arrived at Apartment 5A in the building for an appointment with Mr. Ledger, the police said. The masseuse was let in to the home by a housekeeper, who then knocked on the door of Mr. Ledger’s bedroom. When no one answered, the housekeeper and the masseuse opened the bedroom and found Mr. Ledger unconscious. They shook him, but he did not respond. They immediately called the authorities.
The police said they did not suspect foul play. Officials said pills were found near the body.
TMZ reports Heath Ledger was in full cardiac arrest when paramedics arrived and was announced dead at the scene.
UPDATE: Heath Ledger was reportedly suffering from pneumonia, according to TMZ. The pills were over the counter sleeping pills and accidental overdose is not being ruled out. An autopsy is being performed tomorrow.

RIP -- a good guy and a fine actor.
Of all the witless, half-assed celebs out there that we all practically have a death-watch on, how did something like this happen to him? Never saw it coming.
78. Ray - January 22, 2008 5:31 PM
How unbelievably tragic. Loved him from the moment he lit up the screen. To think we won't be allowed to see what could have been is unfortunate as he was a young hottie who actually had - and used - his talent. God bless his daughter. How tragic to lose your father at the age of two.

87. Maxine - January 22, 2008 5:33 PM
Let's see - a rich young actor, flush with fame and wealth, doing what he loves, dies from an accidental or intentional overdose. Looks like suicide because it's pills. Yeah, what a "tragedy" -- his poor little daughter...had a dad who didn't have the character to be grateful for having the world at his feet, and in his darkest moment (which was not very dark at all by the standards of real suffering) couldn't put his daughter first. Today the world lost a real pussy.

96. Princess - January 22, 2008 5:36 PM
Another shitty actor bites the big one. I would have picked so many others (Lindsay, Paris, Nicole, Britney) to go first, but i can't complain.
Tally this one up as another actor dead because of drugs, and now he will be praised as some tragic story, just like Anna Nichole, even though she clearly didn't deserve it either.
He wanted to be Brandon Lee (The Joker makeup was a total rip of of the Crow) but he couldn't die while filming, so he ODs afterwards. Way to be a "Hollywood Legend" you dumb shit.
Face it, his is famous for being a fag cowboy and we are all supposed to commend him for that? no thanks.
His stupidity killed him.
97. Jimbo - January 22, 2008 5:37 PM

112. Meh - January 22, 2008 5:43 PM
He was gutless. Couldn't commit to his daughter or her mom, couldn't make it past a little emotional distress. Total fuckin wimp. Thinning the herd is never tragic.
113. Lal - January 22, 2008 5:43 PM
Wow this sucks. I really wish it had been Lindsay Lohan or Amy Winehouse or some other worthless, worn out crackface who had OD'd instead of him. They (probably) do a hell of a lot more drugs than he ever did. Heath never made an ass of himself in the media, and I thought the guy was a class act. This is so surprising and so tragic, he was a very good actor, just starting to get the recognition as a real actor, not just a "teen heartthrob" character like in A Knight's Tale. I'm seeing shades of James Dean here. Whether it was suicide or not, it's awful. Especially when a young person dies at the top of their game, and has a lot of potential. I'll definitely see the new Batman movie, it looked like his Joker character would have been the best role he'd ever done. R.I.P. Heath.

This is a SHOCK, As I never heard of neither many of his close friends and associated probably did not know that he had a drug problem, unless this is a fatal reaction to some legit drugs he was prescribed.
His career was about to take off too with Dark Knight coming out this summer, and I expected to hear this happen to Lindsay Lohan or Britney Spears not Ledger.

Playing the role of the Joker (a MUCH more evil version than we've seen), disturbed him. Maybe not THE cause, but a contributing factor?
CNN quoted him as saying he could only sleep 2 hrs a night because of the Joker role.

I FEEL SO BAD FOR HIM! WAH WAH WAH! IT'S SUCH A TRAGEDY! WAH WAH WAH!
He was young, rich, successful, and he decided to do drugs and date Mary-Kate Olsen instead of raising his daughter with her mom in a family. And then he killed himself when...what? he found out she had dieted away her vagina? FUCK HIM and all like him. The world is better off - his daughter is certainly better off - without a whiny weak-assed loser like him.
137. Alyssa_Amstell - January 22, 2008 5:51 PM
I'll always remember him for his role in 'Ten Things I Hate About You' mainly because it was the first Ledger movie I ever saw and I just love the movie in general. He was a great actor, he will be missed.
Fuck, I still can't believe he's gone...
138. IKE - January 22, 2008 5:51 PM
The JOKER role killed him.
He got into the role too much.
139. Jen - January 22, 2008 5:51 PM
No one knows if it was suicide or an accidental overdose. It's so sad that a lot of people here are just spewing vitriol without basis or cause. He was a talented young man, with a little baby daughter. This is sad no matter how you spin it. It doesn't automatically become funny or a worthless story just because he was an actor.
It just seems like a sad, everyday story and I feel sorry for his daughter and Michelle Williams -- I'm sure they will wonder for the rest of their lives, what might have been. After all, it ain't over till it's over, and for him, it is. Sad.

That's really really shocking, so weird. I can't quite believe it.
I kind of grew up with Heath Ledger - from 10 Things I Hate About You as a teenager up to his recent films - and never thought he'd be the type to die so tragically.
My thoughts are with his daughter and the rest of his family.

So sad. He will be missed. Poor little Matilda.
145. Lou Dobbs - January 22, 2008 5:54 PM
"Playing the role of the Joker (a MUCH more evil version than we've seen), disturbed him. Maybe not THE cause, but a contributing factor?
CNN quoted him as saying he could only sleep 2 hrs a night because of the Joker role."
You're fucking kidding me, right? What a fucking pansy. No wonder he took the selfish/gutless way out. Good riddance.
146. Redhead - January 22, 2008 5:55 PM
To the person who said, "Thinning the herd is never tragic". I hope you have those words engraved on your tombstone.
147. Greedo the Dead - January 22, 2008 5:55 PM
The anus was unremarkable.
148. RIP dood. - January 22, 2008 5:56 PM
I still have the old GQ magazine from 2 years ago with him on the cover. Haven't watched Brokeback, but I thought he seemed to be a pretty clean guy. I totally think other coked out actresses would have died instead of him. What a loss.
149. Alex F - January 22, 2008 5:56 PM
WHAAAAT THE... :O
150. Zeebra - January 22, 2008 5:56 PM
*Sigh* This really is a horrible, horrible thing to have happened.. and it makes me sad that more people are concerned about the damn Batman movie than an actual PHYSICAL MAN'S LIFE. How disgusting. Grow up you cunts. I agree with #70. And RIP Heath. Sorry that you couldn't get help sooner.
151. Sam - January 22, 2008 5:56 PM
Judging by that picture, he must have been upset about his hairline.
152. Superbad - January 22, 2008 5:56 PM
what does Tom Cruise has to say about this?
I thought Lohan or Spears would go first
153. carly - January 22, 2008 5:57 PM
holy shit
154. gio - January 22, 2008 5:59 PM
It's always tragic when anyone dies this young, whether it's a movie star or a starry-eyed naive kid from the Midwest sacrificed in Iraq.
Heath was a great actor. He was far more than a good-looking guy reading lines. He literally broke my heart in "Monster's Ball".
R.I.P. :(:(
So, so sad for the daugher who will never know him.
155. Auntie Kryst - January 22, 2008 5:59 PM
It appears this may have been a successful suicide attempt. In that light, @87 I couldn't agree more. Sure it's sad that a guy's dead, and by all accounts he was a decent actor. Regardless he was a parent and this selfish jerk goes and offs himself. No need to mourn him.
156. Redhead - January 22, 2008 5:59 PM
And #145, you should have "Good riddance" engraved on yours.
157. Elizabeth - January 22, 2008 5:59 PM
3,929 Heath and Heathers have died in Iraq. It's a tragic age to die, with so much ahead of them. It's so easy to forget that so many soldiers have faces, family, hopes, dreams, disappointments, and so on. Please vote to bring our troops out of harm's way. Heath Ledger's death hurts me personally, it does. But thinking of how many thousands of soldiers I don't even know a thing about hurts me to the core. We've got to give the real wound in our country some treatment.

158. Re - January 22, 2008 6:00 PM
Can't say that I saw this one coming, though there is little doubt in my mind that this was self-induced. Sad because he has a child. RIP.
159. JoeysAngyl - January 22, 2008 6:00 PM
@99... you truly are an ass way to go.
This is really sad, and it makes you wonder what just how bad his life had to seem to him in order to do such a thing. And as sad as this is, I feel horrible for his daughter
160. Susan - January 22, 2008 6:00 PM
Christ, here we go again. The moaning and the exaggerating, and especially the exaggerated moaning. He was an above-average actor, no better than that, and yes, suicide is the coward's way out (as is running away from a family you started, instead of making a commitment). This is not tragic in any way, it's typical Hollywood: no character, no integrity.
161. anna - January 22, 2008 6:02 PM
I am incredibly sad and in complete shock over this. being from australia, i feel like i watched him grow up before being poisoned by the hollywood scene. what an amazing talent, and what a shame his beautiful little girl will grow up without her father.
162. cubical land - January 22, 2008 6:02 PM
If he did infact kill himself, that is Bull Shit, while he had everything, I am stuck in this fucking cubical thinking, about how my life fucking sucks. Way to go Heath.
163. I.S. - January 22, 2008 6:03 PM
Poor brokeback. Maybe he died looking for food in MK's apartment...
164. erica lew. - January 22, 2008 6:03 PM
Oh god. I loved him, man. I'm shocked. :/
He was one of my favorites.
Rest in peace. <3
165. Wendy - January 22, 2008 6:05 PM
I just heard on "E" that the "masseuse" was a guy from a male escort outcall service. They called it an unsubstantiated rumor but supposedly there are people saying this guy had been seen frequently at the same location in recent days. There's also some question about the pills (maybe not sleeping pills, maybe "poppers") and whether the guy went into the apartment and only LATER called for help.
Getting interesting now...
166. anna - January 22, 2008 6:05 PM
Its amazing how you people can turn a suicide from depression or whatever into some selfish annoyance that you havent topped yourself off first, or that he had no talent and therefore shouldn't be mourned. ridiculous. He's a human being, someone's dad, someone's son, and he was that before he became another hollywood statistic. dont hate the player, hate the game.

170. woodhorse - January 22, 2008 6:07 PM
A person commits suicide when they are without hope. To all of you so cold to deny even a minute of charitable thoughts towards any person so filled with despair then I hope you know such sadness until you do finally understand.
171. RENEE... - January 22, 2008 6:07 PM
This caught me so off guard & got me so upset, I almost threw up when I read this. I guess I never released just how much I liked him & his acting. He also always reminded me of an old friend so it seemed like someone I really knew died. I feel so badly for Michelle Williams and their daughter. How tragic, what a waste. And so young. Now that I look back on his filmography, I see that maybe he picked roles that mirrored his life...Monsters Ball, Candy(...no, not Brokeback!) Candy especially, since it was all about drug addicts and them trying to quit that life. I never knew he had a drug or depression problem but now it seems to make things clearer; the messed up relationship w/ Michelle, the reason he always looked so crappy and grumpy even though he was so capable of being a really handsome man....he was suffering from drug addiction and depression! (I wonder what he was doing at MK's apartment and if there's some clues as to whats going on in her life also; maybe a wake up call for her??) Anyways, this just sucks! I am so sad. May he rest in peace, and he will be missed DEARLY.
172. Jodie Angle - January 22, 2008 6:08 PM
How sad:( Heath was such a good actor. It's so hard to believe he's gone. He had so much going for him. Heath will truly be missed. I pray for his family and friends. For some reason, God decided to take him at the height of his career. Much Love to the Ledger family. May God Bless them.
173. kitty_kat - January 22, 2008 6:09 PM
I agree with #87.
I only feel sorry that his family members have to miss him for the rest of their lives.
174. dude on a wire - January 22, 2008 6:10 PM
I guess the Joker is guaranteed as a blockbuster now. If his performance is deemed Oscar worthy it will be even more sad that he won't be there for the acceptance speech.
This is just sad, not an opportunity to spew funnies. I admired his work as an actor - And no matter what one's opinion is regarding overdose/suicide there must be a glimmer in anyone who has a heart to offer the man peace during this difficult aftermath of his unfortunate death.
175. ReelWorld - January 22, 2008 6:10 PM
Hey #99 - why don't you suck a fart outta my ass you heartless cunt!
It's a tragedy that he died so young, and so far, it hasn't been proven that he killed himself. Show a little respect!! He was a good actor and a father. Think of how his daughter will cope with all this?
176. Squinky - January 22, 2008 6:10 PM
I can see how they'll use this for PSA's for drug abuse. I can see it now, a cgi Heath Ledger and Joker in a room.
Heath asks the Joker, "You hear any good jokes lately?"
Joker turns to camera, "No, because I'm dead."
177. Mac - January 22, 2008 6:11 PM
@165 - I'm hearing stuff like that too. Fox News (sorry, I was channel flipping) is reporting that he was found nude - face down. Surrounded by pills. Sounds like simple math to me. I wonder when they'll start mentioning a semen sample found at the scene?

183. Izanti - January 22, 2008 6:13 PM
I don't think he killed himself. I think he bled to death when get got high and tried to shave his pussy. Look, you have a kid, you muddle through whatever you have to, to BE THERE for her. You don't check out, like a selfish coward. If that was his true character (or lack thereof) the little girl is way better off without such a loser for a daddy.
184. Alexsander - January 22, 2008 6:14 PM
wow this is sad news! now to COSIMA: you are an ignorant!
185. p0nk - January 22, 2008 6:14 PM
woodhorse, and why again, was mr ledger without hope? people commit suicide because they can't cope. billions of people every day have seen more despair but manage to have the fortitude to keep trying. it's the selfish people who off themselves because they can't figure out that they were meant to serve society, not the other way around.

"Two months ago he was having trouble sleeping because of the Joker role. ...He said that he took one Ambien and nothing happen then took a second and only slept for an hour."
He really just didn't leave the role at the set.
There won't be a Dark Knight part 2. If so, I guarantee the Joker role won't be as good.
190. Truth - January 22, 2008 6:19 PM
If you have standards, you stick with them through thick and thin. If you don't, you abandon them and do whatever you think is best for you. Sorry, no praise for absentee fathers who commit suicide when life gets a tiny bit difficult for them. Which in Heath Ledger's case was what? Not enough millions? Not enough A-list roles? Not enough girlfriends? Not enough drugs?
It's sickening to read these knee-jerk responses, all the broken-hearted support for doing things the wrong way. No wonder society is so fucked up, and parenting is at an all-time low.
Go back to your repetitive Britney "jokes" ("Shitney! Hahaha!"). It's what you do best.

i really cannot imagine how this is going to affect Batman. It is truly a shame to see actors as young as 25 ( Brad Renfro) and 28 (Heath) who likely dont even understand that their lives have barely just begun, already throwing them away on drugs.

204. Andy - January 22, 2008 6:26 PM
Heath just discovered that Satan is exactly as portrayed on South Park. Which isn't all bad, for Heath, because clearly he enjoys getting it in the ass. Which is why he's in Hell now.

#99 - How in the world can you compare Heath Ledger with Anna Nicole Smith?! One was an Oscar nominated first rate actor while the other was a third rate reality tv personality. While both sadly died leaving young children behind there is no other comparison.
Heath was a great actor and I for one am sad that we will never see how far that talent would have taken him. I do not understand the drug culture or how these talented people risk their lives for it. It's a sad commentary on our times - as is this site.
212. Rick - January 22, 2008 6:32 PM
He was sexually ambiguous. In those cases, when they become dads, they molest their daughters, usually for a long period of time. This is the opposite of tragedy. His daughter just escaped years of trauma at the hands of this freak.

228. Lauren - January 22, 2008 6:42 PM
What a sad, unexpected loss...
His respect for quality cinema was obvious in the few, yet bold roles he chose; most notably, as the Joker. I find it both crude and ignorant to dismiss his death as a cowardly act, especially given that the circumstances are not yet known. Prior to today I have never once heard anything dishonorable about him, unlike the other celebrities that swarm gossip sites.
Regardless, the loss of a father, a promising artist, and by all other accounts stand-up man is truly disheartening.

@185 No, people who can't cope end up on welfare or drugs. Saying people who commit suicide are "selfish" as if they took something desireable that didn't belong to them is fucking stupid. Thinking that all people have the same ability to deal with pain is like saying that all people have the ability to be professional football players. Also fucking stupid. Why can't you just be glad it wasn't you?
235. no1justminda - January 22, 2008 6:50 PM

Some people use drugs to get high/party - it's called "recreational drug use". Some people use drugs to self medicate. Those people are hurt in some way.

This sucks. He'll blow everyone out of the water with his Joker portrayal and he won't be around to enjoy the accolades. "What a waste of good talent," as my friend put it.
And in the meantime, Britney Spears is still nom-nom-nomming down on fried chicken and talking in a British accent. It's funny how we all know full and well she has some kind of drug problem, and yet nothing happens to her, yet Heath Ledger suddenly dies and we're all like, "He had a drug problem?"
240. juniper - January 22, 2008 6:57 PM

241. Grant - January 22, 2008 6:57 PM
I just want to say that you will be missed greatly in the hollywood community Heath you were the true method actor and one hell of a gentleman .
I also want to say that the press blows this shit way out of proportion and I want all of you to know that if I were there at the scene you all would be dead, i mean who in there right mind comes up with some of the dumb ass conclusions that you people do, i mean you take pictures at celebs screwing up in theirs, when really for most of you should point the camera at yourself and see really how fucked up you are. You people are hellbent on invading other people's privacy but yet are the first to speak up about abolishing the patriot act. hmmm paradox much.... i guess so. So to all you people at the press, i say this FUCK YOU.

Some of you are idiots. If it was a suicide, he must have been hurting very badly, for reasons we don't know. Suicide is not a "knee-jerk" reaction....where do you people get your asshole psychology from? People only commit suicide when they feel so truly depressed (in a way most of us, I hope to God, never feel) that they can see no other way out.
Stop assuming that because you saw a few of his movies you know what he did and why he did it. Just be thankful it wasn't you or someone around you and shut the fuck up.

252. AssBigot - January 22, 2008 7:23 PM
Stripped of all his wealth and fame, Heath still was a human being and his death is tragic.
Did he die because of suicide? IF he did, then he already paid the price for that mistake with his life (there can't be anything more costly than one's life) and the rest of you who say he doesn't deserved to be mourned have no right to say that.
May his death serve as a lesson that fortune and fame doesn't give you the ticket to a happy life. As for the drugs, they should be shoved down the throats of BritBrit's and Lindsay's parents.

Damnit! Now who will love Donnie Darko like no other?
For real, this is tragic.....I watched Viggo's bouncing man-flesh and now this....Hopefully, a few people take the plunge and follow in his footsteps (my fingers are crossed that Jared Leto gets rope happy soon).
264. Coco LaFemme - January 22, 2008 7:37 PM
I was truly shocked when I heard this, I don't remember ever hearing his name connected with any kind of drug use or drug problems. If this was suicide, I hope he found peace. If it was an accident, I hope his family and friends can forgive his weakness.

first renfro now ledger which fagtor will be next
267. Megan - January 22, 2008 7:41 PM
I don't know, I think this story will turn out to be quite different from what all of you are saying. There are reports now that a suicide note was found, which among other things begged his daughter for forgiveness. It was an "open secret" that his breakup with Michelle Williams involved her saying to friends that he was unfit as a dad because of his drug use, but also other disturbing behavior that was emerging involving the daughter. Also an "open secret" is his personal history of abuse, which I guess is no big thing among actors. Still, it's one thing to feel sympathy for somebody, as Michelle did after she got to know Heath, and quite another thing to see them act out their problems in a way that damages an innocent. Word to the wise: try waiting at least 24 hours before building a shrine to this guy (unless you enjoy looking like a complete tool when the facts come out).

Pity.

Tragic.

I'm not shocked
It's just the top of the iceberg, but you see how shitty is this world everyday..also here..on the superficial
272. stoplookingatme - January 22, 2008 7:55 PM
Whoever said Brad Renfo was the year's first celeb death (can't find the post now!)... Let's not forget Vampira, of Ed Wood fame, who died on Jan 10. And Suzanne Pleshette died on Jan 17 (after Renfro).
273. Ihji96 - January 22, 2008 7:56 PM
Completely and utterly shocked over this. I loved him in all his movies and he will be missed.
274. mojo - January 22, 2008 7:58 PM
no!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
275. stephen - January 22, 2008 7:59 PM
He was an ok actor and an irresponsible human being, as shown by his last act. No sympathy. In fact, all you weepies should be ashamed of yourselves - the innocent daughter is the tragedy in all this, not the self-obsessed actor who couldn't see beyond his own trivial upsets.
276. ShutUpCunt - January 22, 2008 8:00 PM
@267
Reports of a suicide note and molesting his daughter? Bullshit. Post a link to these reports or STFU.
277. LadyJane - January 22, 2008 8:03 PM
Times like these you realise who the retarded are among us. Case in point, some of the people who have posted some thoughtless stuff.
Heath, man... I am so sad that you left us. This is a sad day.
278. Matlida Rose - January 22, 2008 8:03 PM
"Life is pain. Get used to it."
Line from a movie. Too bad my pussy of a "dad" was too weak to handle it. For the record, I'm glad he's gone. I'm ashamed of him already.
279. tuliplady - January 22, 2008 8:03 PM
Things usually happen in 3s. Renfro, Ledger...Spears? Lohan? Hilton? Please Lord.
Ledger's death is tragic because human waste is the biggest sin.
You know what? I take it back - Renfro and Ledger don't deserve to be attached to those vacuous bitches.
But in all honesty, Ledger is tragic but not a surprise.
If you noticed - in almost every photo - he always carried his sadness in his eyes.
RIP.
280. steff - January 22, 2008 8:04 PM
R.I.P he was a great actor thets not fair .....
281. ugh - January 22, 2008 8:04 PM
@ 266 - Hopefully you.
282. Megan - January 22, 2008 8:07 PM
#276 - nice potty mouth. And you're lazy too, like other lemmings who accept what they read here because they can't be bothered to get information themselves. The thing you're using to masturbate (to "poooooooooor Heath!!!") is called a computer. It can do lots of things, like connect to other computers with REAL information. But...lazy, and retarded too. Sorry, I can't help you. Not because it's not possible, but because you're not worth it.
283. ShutUpCunt - January 22, 2008 8:09 PM

285. La Frascatana - January 22, 2008 8:15 PM
In the pic up above, he's wearing a shirt that says "Hooker." There are many pictures of him wearing this shirt.
It got me wondering -- did Heath have gay sex to advance his career? This is very, very common in Hollywood. It's also a theme in his movies, and not just Brokeback Mountain. He is a drug-addict strung along by a gay creep in an indie film called Candy ( his best role. )
Maybe he sold his body to get ahead and just couldn't handle the memories. I'm not buying that it was depression over Michelle Williams. Heath has always been a player and was banging Lohan, Kate Hudson, apparently Mary-Kate Olsen, and God knows who else in the months before he died.
286. HELP - January 22, 2008 8:17 PM
I can't believe you people calling him selfish for committing suicide before anyone knows if it was suicide....get a life....
He had pneumonia when he died....maybe something about that could have been the cause????
287. O: - January 22, 2008 8:20 PM
BATMAN, YOU'VE GONE TOO FAR!
288. makemepuke - January 22, 2008 8:21 PM
He seemed like a really decent guy. He seemed like a normal dude in Knight's Tale. Fuck me ....is Holywood fucked up these days or what!!!! Why are actors so fuckin unstable? Why couldn't Tom Cruise be the overdose victim? I'd sleep way better at night knowing TC was deceased rather than some decent Australian dude who portrayed good guys in the movies and was simply playing himself rather than TC who pretends to be a good guy in the movies and in reality is an evil fuckin Hitler type who supports an organization that intends to take away my human rights and freedoms..... Howefer (yes I've had one too many glasses of wine tonight), Tom has actually portrayed himself a few times....Vanilla Sky, Magnolia, Collateral. TC fuck off and die, Heath Ledger...you were Ok dude! Rest in peace bro.
289. Megan - January 22, 2008 8:25 PM
At least you made yourself clear, #276/283. Nobody has such anger and channels it by using the word "cunt" - nobody except an angry repressed gay "man." No wonder you're so upset, Brokeback was a watershed for you, both figuratively and literally (if it's salty water). Sorry, I didn't mean to touch a nerve, especially one so closely connected to your prostate.

Thats just stupid.
My T-shirt says "HOLY S-#-%-*-! The GOONIES". I spose that means I go on epic adventures beneath the ground with crazy fat kids, gadget savvy asians and bi-curious inbred mutants hunting for pirate ships?
295. naruelle - January 22, 2008 8:31 PM
Can't believe he's gone.. i really thought it was a joke when I first heard it. how sad.. T_T
296. Sue - January 22, 2008 8:31 PM
I don't agree with all the harsh comments, but I also don't understand the corpse worship. Why automatically think favorably about somebody simply because they stopped living? I don't know much at all about Heath Ledger, about the man, his life, why he made the choice he did while living, and why he died the way he did. Neither do you. There's some unsavory-sounding stuff about the circumstances of his death, and that combined with drug use, refusing to marry Michelle Williams and form a proper family for his daughter, and hooking up with Mary-Kate Olson (wtf???)...it all makes me have some doubts, and withhold judgment one way or another until the facts are in.
The other 99% of the time, you're all hardass skeptics, properly so, about Hollywood and celebrity. But then a celeb dies, and you go all mushy, without the slightest knowledge of who you're mourning, the only conclusion is what the celebs themselves say: the haters are all fawning fans underneath, and hurt and angry that the celebs don't care about them. PATHETIC!
297. Diamond Dog Jones - January 22, 2008 8:31 PM
So, let me get this right. A self-absorbed actor takes sleeping pills and, either being suicidal or a complete dumbass, takes too many pills and ends up killing himself.
I really don't understand the sympathy on this thread. If he was suicidal, he didn't want to be here anyway and didn't a give a fuck as to the consequences of his actions. If it was a overdose, he must've forgot how to READ THE DIRECTIONS on the bottle his sleeping pills came in. Either way, he CHOSE how this was gonna end up.
So save your tears for the people in Darfur, Iraq and Afghanistan instead of self-absorbed, narcissistic actor who may or may not have been able to FOLLOW SIMPLE DIRECTIONS.

I was just seeing a preview of Batman about how him being the Joker and Jack Nicholson and stuff and then this news came up. I was very surprised and I can only hope that he rest in peace and wish well to those who are affected by his passing.
299. Rita - January 22, 2008 8:33 PM
this sucks. I loved him. He was such a cool actor. I don't buy the whole 'he drugged himself to death' thing...=( I'm so sorry he's dead. R.I.P
300. John V - January 22, 2008 8:33 PM
So so sad. His career was really starting to get interesting and to see it cut short is a shame. His passing along with Brad Renfro's is so tragic. Here's a recent interview of Heath talking about death and his own mortality.
