I don't know, I think this story will turn out to be quite different from what all of you are saying. There are reports now that a suicide note was found, which among other things begged his daughter for forgiveness. It was an "open secret" that his breakup with Michelle Williams involved her saying to friends that he was unfit as a dad because of his drug use, but also other disturbing behavior that was emerging involving the daughter. Also an "open secret" is his personal history of abuse, which I guess is no big thing among actors. Still, it's one thing to feel sympathy for somebody, as Michelle did after she got to know Heath, and quite another thing to see them act out their problems in a way that damages an innocent. Word to the wise: try waiting at least 24 hours before building a shrine to this guy (unless you enjoy looking like a complete tool when the facts come out).

Adrienne Shelly a writer director and actor was found dead in her home hanging in her shower immediately the Post (trash paper) wrote an article about how she had committed suicide. After the press continuously wrongfully reported her death as a suicide (because it was the immediate assumption) it was discovered that there were foorprints in the home and that she had in fact been murdered by a worker renovating the place below her office. If someone you cared about was reported as having committed suicide when they had in fact been killed or died from an accidental overdose or other reasons you would be livid.

There are many reasons Heath could have died there were PRESCRIPRTION drugs in his room. Any of you douches been sick and needed a prescription before ? I mourn truly tragic deaths, like a fireman who died trying to rescue a child (pretty much the inverse of what Mr. Ledger did). I show respect for people who have everything going against them, or at least feel that way, but tie a knot on the rope and hold on, because they know others need them and they refuse to fail their loved ones. You can't have it both ways. If those men are virtuous, Mr. Ledger is not. Possibly I'd feel sympathy if I knew him personally and his struggle turned out to be difficult in some way (but possibly not - when somebody gets to "I just feel too much" I start rooting for suicide), but I wouldn't give him respect. He didn't earn it simply by dying, and certainly not by killing himself and failing to live up to the responsibilities he himself created.

I have a friend who accidentally overdosed on sleeping pills. I know its not really yet come out if they believe it was accidental or intentional, but yeah its a very sad thing. I suffer from it and just recently become aware of it and am in contact with a cardiologist to solve that. Before that I've taken various sleep pills (also heavier stuff) which could have easily killed me (especially since I also have asthma and therefore an already quite bad breath situation).

First of all, this is just shocking to me. Never in a million years would I have thought Heath Ledger would be dead from an OD. When I heard the news, I was in complete shock and couldn't believe it. He will be missed dearly. I still can't believe it.

So sad. One of the few truly talented actors of my generation worth dies. I feel like when River Phoenix died, but worse.

I had a patient recovering from a fairly routine surgery; she seemed to be doing fine using a morphine pump for pain, and had even walked a little. I found her unresponsive even though she had been fine less than an hour earlier. At first we thought her visitors might have punched the pain button too many times, but after yelling at her a few times just to wake her up, I wasn't sure. When she did wake, she coughed, then slid back into sleep.

I reported this to the dr right away, and after I told him about her coughing when I finally roused her, he ordered immediate respiratory treatment with a nebulizer. The respiratory tech was already on the unit thankfully, and he tested her 02 sats before starting treatment. Her 02 sats were low enough to raise both our eyebrows. With the nebulizer drugs going in with additional oxygen, she woke up pretty good, and coughed up a lot of the junk that had been blocking her lungs -- which is probably what contributed to her becoming so sleepy, lack of oxygen since it was blocked by the junk in her lungs. She did fine the rest of her recovery, and didn't remember any of the scary moments. The dr kept up with the nebulizer treatments just in case.

If Mr. Ledger did have pneumonia, and did self medicate for sleep, I suppose it's possible a similar thing could have happened to him, since pain and sleep drugs depress breathing, allowing for more junk to build up and block the lung's air exchange. That's just a guess; we'll have to wait on the autopsy results to know if it was illness, drug-related, or a combination.

EVERYONE in Australia who ever met him spoke of him being friendly and kind hearted to those closest to him. He is the quintessential aussie guy, and many people considered him like a friend because he was easy to relate to. See to us, he wasnt just some actor. he was an ambassador for our country, He said what he thought, he didnt pander to Hollywoods wants.

He was well loved, well respected. Heath didnt want the fame that came with the job. He avoided Sydney because the paparazzi harassed him too much.

He comes to your country, and when he dies all you can do abuse him?? Its pathetic, disgusting, atrocious, despicable. I hope, when someone you respect and admire dies there is someone you know who makes a mockery of it, and then tells you to get over it. Because its what you honestly deserve.

(1000 000) One million Iraqis have been killed in the violence caused by the US-led invasion of March 2003, an independent think tank estimated based on the study published in prestigious medical journal The Lancet and the online civilian casualty database Iraq Body Count.

Just Foreign Policy pointed out that since the last scientific estimate of 601,000 violent Iraqi deaths attributable to the U.S.-led invasion was made over a year ago, it necessarily does not include Iraqis who have been killed since then.

"The Lancet study was based on a survey completed in July 2006. So, although at the time it was the best, indeed the only scientific estimate of Iraqi deaths, it is now a year old," Robert Naiman, National coordinator and senior policy analyst at Just Foreign Policy, said. "We wanted to provide an update of that so we have extrapolated from the numbers that the Lancet study reported, using the trend provided by the deaths reported by Iraq Body Count, which counts deaths reported in Western media. And our online estimate now stands at 999,987 -- so it's about to cross the one million mark."

To update The Lancet figure, Just Foreign Policy obtained a rate of how quickly deaths are mounting in Iraq using the the Iraq Body Count (IBC), which they consider to be the most reliable, frequently updated database of deaths in Iraq.

The think tank concedes that this combination of the IBC and the Lancet is not perfect, but expressed confidence that it is the best way of obtaining a rough estimate using existing tallies while awaiting another scientifically-based number.

"It's a little disappointing to see the belligerents in this particular conflict just rejecting these findings outright, and in doing so they have actually been expressing indifference in a time when they should be expressing compassion," Les Roberts, the Roberts is co-author of the study Mortality after the 2003 Invasion of Iraq: A Cross-Sectional Cluster Sample Survey, said. "There's a lot of complimentary evidence out there that our study has to be in the right ball park. For example ... a recent report from Oxfam of hundreds of thousands of war widows in Iraq -- or the U.N.'s claim some months ago that there are hundreds of thousands of war orphans in Iraq."
