Jan 30 2008Britney Spears is medicated

Britney Spears is reportedly on medication for bipolar disorder. She has seen several psychiatrists and has one that visits her regularly. Friends claim Britney does well on the medication, but when she feels normal she quits taking it causing her to go batshit. However, one professional tells TMZ the medication is just flat-out not working:

That same professional tells TMZ, "She's really trying. Whether it works -- we'll have to see." That person also says it's extremely frustrating when the media shows video of Britney out on the town acting crazy, adding, "She has a disease. Sometimes when you see her she's in the middle of an episode. It's like mocking someone with Down syndrome."

Wow. Did that person just say Britney Spears has Down syndrome? That’s a bit harsh. To people with Down syndrome that is. They try their best and are surprisingly great with kids. Britney on the other hand; well, she’s great with, uh, I dunno, socks?

That is not at all like mocking somebody with down syndrome. Sure, bi-polar disorder is a real disease, but it can often be controlled with the use of therapy and/or medication. If someone isn't diligent about taking their prescribed medication and they go batshit crazy every few weeks, that's their own fault.

Yeah! She has turrets too---Its Britney Bitch! I'd like a taco "Bitch"! Please "BITCH" pass the greasy spoon!

HAHA, I doubt she wears socks. You know those boot stink up the whole room when she takes them off. The girl never even wears underwear, why would she bother with socks! :)

"It's mocking someone with Down syndrome."

the difference is i look away when i see a person with downs syndrome wearing cthru tops and flashing her cootchie.

It aint bipolar or the meds for it that cause blown-out pupils, bad skin, and scabs from obsessive picking.

Oh come on, she's the one who calls all the pap schmears ahead of time to let them know where she'll be at all times, so they can constantly take her picture. The only thing thats going to get Brit to straighten the fuck out is if she finally realizes that she really won't be able to see her kids unless she gets help. She has to realize that she really, actually won't get her way for once, like she's used to. The other thing that would help would be if everyone just stopped paying attention to her, stopped treating her like she's so important and the world revolves around her. Then she might actually have to stop and really take a look at herself and what she's done to her life, her kids, herself. I have a feeling that would be a pretty scary moment. The nasty cooch shots alone would be enough to make a sane woman want to jump off a bridge.

Doesn't bi-polar have something to do with magnets ?
(Ok I'm not really a doctor)

The problem like they say lies in the fact that once they "feel" better they think they don't have to be on it. So, until she understands this, which seems easy enuogh to figure out between all the photographs and videos of her bahavior, that she would SEE she needs to be on them. Heavily. Or they are simply NOT working. I say the latter.

Girls gotta WANT the help for real, not just to shut up her family to get off her back.

But DAMN! Does being Bi-polar mean you can't dress yourself or pick out a decent shade of lipstick? I mean a hooker has better taste.

so THAT'S why she's always bouncing around like a beach ball at a nickleback concert..

"She has seen several psychiatrists"
Starbucks Baristas are not the same as psychiatrists.

Binky- you are thinking of marbles.. loose marbles floating around in her head. *nods oh so wisely*

Explains all those trips to RiteAid

It's always something or somebody else that is responsible for Britney's incessant bullshit, isn't it? I think I'll try that excuse next time I run over someone or hold my kid hostage in the bathroom for 3 hours or steal a lighter from a gas station.

.. and seriously that smile is freaking my ass out!

But she looks pretty skinny in that pic, give the ole girl that.

How about sleeping instead of htting up the drug store at 5 am every other day? Would that help her mental state?

And if every time you see someone they are having an "episode" then it's not an episode anymore, it's who they are.

If I were treating her, I'd put her in a deep hypnotic trance (shouldn't take much effort), then watch a video from Britney in her prime and jerk off onto her face. I think that's all that can be salvaged now.

Every time I see that creepy smile I smell bunnies boiling.

I think Heath Ledger was bipolar, too. Or was it bisexual? I know he died preparing to have a masseuse stick a pole up his ass, so maybe that's what I'm thinking of. Anyway, right now, it's better to be his daughter than Britney's kids.

Someone should smash those damn huge glasses into her huge sow face.

sorry but a "professional" wouldn't go blabbing about their client to the media. didn't dr. phil get his ass roasted for that? this girl may as well kill herself like her grandmother did. there is absolutely no way for her to get privacy or find a single person to trust.

The check out guy behind her is "checking out" her skanky ass.

Poor Britney. I hope she gets the help she needs, although it does look good with people constantly revealing her private personal information, and harassing her with cameras every second of the day. Anybody would have a breakdown under those conditions. I pray that she gets true help, and recovers to express both her phenomenal talent and her boundless love as a mother.

Oh silly Fish, just because Brit has replaced her children with sock puppets that she takes out around town, feeds lattes and sings to (footage not found) does not mean she is good with socks. She still shoves them in the washing machine (wondering how they got covered in coffee stains) with a bar of soap and some packets of ketchup (she thinks that's how you do laundry) and Newsflash that's exactly what she did to her "old" kids when they got dirty, so really nothing ever changes with Britney except the rotation of her victims and mouchers.

Way to go doc. Now she thinks she's a sexually experimental bear.

Oh what, so now its "uncool" to mock down syndrome patients or something? This country sucks. I cant have no fun no more!! Next thing you know they'll be telling me I cant heckle and boo at the special olympics. Fucking communists !!

Thing is, everytime she has these "episodes" it does damage to the brain. That explains a lot and she may never totally get her old self back.

So, will the real Britney stand up? Doubtful.

Back when Brit had her kids you could always recognize them (LOL not because they were with their Mommy) but, because they were always covered in coffee coloured ring shaped stains... apparantly babies make very good coasters.

Britney has enormous ass cheeks.

The medication Britney's on inhibits the users appetite to the point of being nearly nonexistent. Hence Britney's lack of continuity.

She simply can't go for more than thirty minutes at a time without having a Portobello-mushroom-six-dollar-burger from Carl's Jr. Ugh..

Binge eating has become so much a part of Britney's life that she would rather suffer hallucinations than not be able to eat tremendous meals seven times a day.

She also likes the way the Potorbello-mushroom-burgers make her farts smell.

There is a monumental difference between people born with chemical disorders, and those who "learn" mental disorders through their own self absorbed, narcissistic and selfish approach to life. They become deranged and delusional ala Norma Desmond(Sunset Boulevard). I think Brit fits into the Norma Desmond category. So screw her. She did it to herself.

Why doesn't the world admit she’s grown up to be a vulgar, selfish, destructive sexaholic slob that no pill can cure and be done with it?

there still isn't a pill that will fix stupid, so i'm not expecting any behaviour changes.

She makes me feel normal, said Corky.

#17 -- How about sleeping instead of hitting up the drug store at 5 am every other day? Would that help her mental state?

Of course sleep would help, but one symptom of bipolar is you often don't (or can't or won't) sleep.

So saying this is kind of like saying "If you would just knock off all the crazy behavior, you could stop all the crazy behavior."

One thing about treating mental illness is that the side effects of the illness (like lack of sleep in a manic state, or no physical activity in a depressed state) can make the illness worse and put one in a downward spiral.

That's one reason meds can be so helpful. They can help a person get back on track and get the extraneous destructive behaviors under control, and stop the spiral.

One problem of meds, however, is they don't make you feel better, or high, they just make you feel normal. So it's easy to forget to take them when they are working.

As someone who's been there, the downward spiral totally sucks ass. Big time.

I need to go take my meds now.

That doctor sucks. I agree that someone with bipolar disorder shouldn't be made fun of, but it is certainly not equivalent to down syndrome.. it's a whole other category of illness.
And, if the public isn't made known of the fact that someone has a disorder, which isn't really any of our business in the first place, then what do people expect?? Abnormal behavior gets made fun of.... because it's ABNORMAL. This guy shouldn't be reprimanding the fact that people are making fun of Britney's behavior when there has only been speculations about her and not any kind of offical statement of a disorder (at least I hadn't heard of one until today). Bleh.

bah! #7. britney totally has "meth face." she don't need no proactive. she needs about a year in lock up!

So are they saying it is wrong to make fun of kids with Down Syndrome? Cuz, I make fun of Britney all the time. .

Yeah, #37. Down Syndromed people don't realize they're funny looking. And it's okay to talk down to them because they are less-than human.

I believe they're factually akin to dogshit.

I read on Downsyndrome.com that Suri Cruise is DSed.

On closer analysis, I've come to the conclusion that Britney is suffering from Tritchotillomania (hair pulling disorder).

I base my conclusion on the fact that Britney's hair is ratty and appears to be very, very thin. Also, Tritchotillomania would further explain why Britney shaved her head. Yes? Yes!

dissing someone with Bipolar dissorder is in no way the same as making fun of a mentally handicapped person.

britney is the american version of Amy winehouse(sp?), except whatever brits smoking is making her fat, not skinny.

and did her grandmother really kill herself?
because maybe whatever was wrong with her grandmother, is wrong with all of the spears women. and eventaully those pore little boys.

all britney and her family is, is whitetrash and it's pretty shitty she take sos much pride in that.

and in all honesty, i really don't think she's bipolar.
this is all drugs.

Excellent... she'll forget she invited me into the room and begin weeping when I draw the shades saying "This will be veeeeeery painful at first..."

"There is a monumental difference between people born with chemical disorders, and those who "learn" mental disorders"

Dude you're really attached to that one, huh? Twice now.

There's no distinction. There aren't two such separate entities, for that matter. Nobody "learns" a mental disorder unless they have a preexisting predisposition toward it, and so experiences that others shrug off have a big impact on some. And there are no disorders shown to be caused by genetic or congenital neurochemical abnormalities. In fact, there aren't known causes for the major psychiatric disorders, just working theories. For that reason, causes aren't specified when giving a psychiatric diagnosis, at least when you're doing it according to the generally accepted diagnostic systems. Yes, some drugs make psychiatric patients a lot better. Aspirin makes some peoples' headaches go away completely. We still don't know what caused either condition in the first place.

If i were Britney I would come out of the house and take a dump in my hat.

maybe chant and walk in circles.

as a bipolar I can assure her life goes on. Just dont try to get life ins.

It is *like* making fun of someone with Down's Syndrome.

I have Bipolar Disorder and thankfully I am doing very well on medication. It takes the average person 9 years to be given the correct diagnosis and it can take years to find the right med balance. My Bipolar is not severe, but it took me four years of hard work to become stable. It is very difficult, very painful even for people who are for the most part recluses-- I can't imagine having to do it all in the public eye.

Bipolar is a serious neurological condition, not actually a "disorder"-- it has an order all its own. Medication can not cure it, only mask the symptoms. Compliance is difficult because unless you are completely dedicated to achieving stability, it is very easy to take the times when you feel okay as a "cure"and stop your medications. The medications are for life. I line up the pills in the morning and then again at night. I have to carry them in my bag and go through airport security with them and explain what they are for.

Manic-depression is not a laughing matter. The suicide rate among diagnosed patients in 15-20%, as opposed to 1-2% for the non-Bipolar population. They are thought to make up 50% of all suicides, an estimate 5000 deaths a year according to one recent study.

Manic-depression cannot be brought under control just by taking a pill/ or taking pills for a couple of weeks. As I said, it can take several years to find stability.

Perez, you have the ability to educate so many with your website. Please help the public understand that Bipolar is not something to make jokes about.

with her love of paps, I'd say she has "Going Down" syndrome.

#42 -- and in all honesty, i really don't think she's bipolar. this is all drugs.

Ever heard of self-medication? A lot of drug use is just that -- people find a substance that helps them deal with a mental condition that they don't realize they have, and go with it.

Alcohol and marijuana tend to be drugs of choice for bipolar.

It's sort of a "which came first" problem that also deals with the spiral I mentioned earlier. Self-medication works on some level but eventually ends up not working and contributing to the problem.

One problem with drug/alcohol abuse is that it is seen as the problem and then attempts are made to solve the problem. Often the abuse is a solution to a problem (not necessarily a good solution, though...) That's why relapse is common -- you get off the drugs but don't deal with the underlying condition.

Many people find that with the right pharmaceutical therapy (along with perhaps talk therapy, group support, etc.) the secondary problems -- sleeplessness, drug use, depression, lack of motivation, head shaving, window bashing, fedora wearing, goodies flashing -- end up taking care of themselves.

Meds? I want them to take the leash off and see what she's really capable of.

FRIST! I forgot what a preposition is. Did I end my sentence with a preposition?

Don't know if this is true, but supposedly Britney's brother is changing his last name to avoid association with his disfunctional family.

all the guys here and half the girls like the way her jeans fit her. be honest.

With all due respect to the sudden flood of commenters who CLEARLY ARE MENTAL PATIENTS, it's not unfair to compare bipolars or other psychiatric nut jobs to retards. Most psychiatric patients have lower than normal IQs, and it only gets worse as they get more and more absorbed into their "illness" by endless therapy sessions and support groups. Eventually all they ever do in life is talk about their problems, having learned nothing about other people and other things in life due to their self-absorbed lifestyle. At that point you've got a better chance at a decent conversation with a real retard, who will drool quite a bit and not be easy to understand, but WON'T start off every other sentence with, "And you know what REALLY HURT ME about that, I..." Honestly, we should pull the plug on all the suicide hotlines - the only good thing about mental patients is that some of them, due to suicide, are like self-cleaning ovens.

.@44 - what is important is to learn to type BEFORE learning a mental illness.

You will notice that D. Richards (coat check guy) has execellent diction while Britney says she wants to be in a movie "roll" - I blame her mother and the State of Louisiana.

#46! What was the funniest Bi-polar moment you've ever had?

Em:

I have it too but I think you are taking it too seriously. Some ppl get cancer, we got bipolar, big deal. It is pretty managable and is like the diabetes of mental illness. Take care of it and you get to live and work and play and pay taxes and maybe get laid. Dont take care of it and, well, its the nuthouse. There's your choice Britney. I have had it so long I dont care who makes fun of who, but I can glean a lot about their character when they do tease the disabled. Oh and You should call the editor here Fish, not Perez when you are copying your posts from gossip site to gossip site. Be well. :P

My first thought after reading "Britney Spears is medicated" was "Obviously not enough." Anybody else.... [crickets chirping] So just me?

But seriously, to second what someone else said, "professionals" (professional what? hanger-on? friend? second cousin twice removed?) don't talk about patients publicly, they certainly don't talk about the medication a patient may be taking. Not if they want to be a professional for very long. That shit is against the law. You can lose your license for that. If this "professional" is not currently treating Britney, he/she doesn't seem like a very credible source of info on how Britney is doing. And when TMZ is involved, that doesn't exactly say "journalistic integrity" to me.

I'm still not convinced that she's officially, no kidding around, mentally ill or impaired in some way. I still think she's just an idiot.

I fail to understand how laypeople or professionals, anyone, can claim to diagnose Britney based soley on pap coverage.

Anyone wonder what her "real" hair must look like after all this time with those wigs and extensions on her head????

Maybe that's what is driving her nuts!!!

#46 - I already told them that stuff. They went "meh".

#23-I don't think that guy is checking out her ass...he's probably just trying not to catch the crazy. You never know how it can be passed aroung and it looks like this guy thinks he can get it from looking at her. He looks scared...look.

As far as her being bi-polar, I'm calling bullshit. I've seen bipolar people in their manic states and in their calm states and nothing I've ever seen compares to her. I think she's just a crazy attention whore. She's only 26, she looks like she's 50, is divorced, losing her kids, realizing that she's never had a voice and should never have tried to do it in the first place and was exploited for her sexuality before she was even of consenting age. I might go crazy if I realized my entire career was based on my sexuality at 16 and realized also that everyone lied to me about being talented. She is just weak and can't deal with reality. Tragedies of young Hollywood stars...not many of them have thick skin...

I hope they aren't good meds, I will miss the Brit news.

Hey beast D. Richards: that isn't what I was saying at all. I don't think that people with Down Syndrome should be talked down to or are dog shit. I DO think that the reason Britney gets mocked is because few people are aware of the reasons for her atypical behaviors. I was in no way dissing Down Syndrome, but simply stating that it does not = bipolar disorder. That doctor made a bad synonym.. these two disorders cannot correctly be used interchangeably in a sentence.

Yup? Like any 'professional' is going to give quotes to TMZ - oh, hang on - I'm a professional because I have a PhD in Architecture, so I'll make some comments about the current sub-prime mortgage situation?

Grow the hell up. There are people out there with GENUINE problems who are eminently worthwhile worrying about.

Ms Spears is just the by-product of a failing society with a skewed world view, avaricious parents, a public who can't handle anything more complex than a 5 second soundbyte and a voting turn-out of less than 21%.

Britney is just a Big Baby - She needs to grow up and stop looking for Pap Smears to Rescue her from herself.

Just so you guys know, her new Bipolar meds will take about 4-6 weeks before they start to work, and all bipolar nut heads don't want to take their meds when they start to feel better that is why they are put away in mental hospitals for the first 6 weeks of their treatment. Where the meds will be hidden in their food or forced down their throats. You only have to stick a tube with meds down their throat once to get the point across. The reason you need to hide the meds in their food is because they always think that you are trying to poison them, which in her case sounds like a good idea.

Having said all this, it appears that Britney in not a bi-polar, but a raging psycho; therefore, there are no drugs in the world that will work on her, and we will still be able to watch the daily wacky Brit news make headlines everyday and every-night and every...

# 46 -

Em, just except that once you are diagnosed with being bipolar that means you are now LABLED AS A NUT FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE, and stop trying to make the rest of us think that you are cured. Also, why is everything BI now, bipolar, bisexual, biped, etc.... What's this all about. I think there is some type of Gay conspiracy going on here.

Down's Syndrome = nature's clowns

Men, you just read what you want to read, she has a disease, so making fun about it it's LIKE making fun of someone with Down Syndrome. So the link here is that bi-polar disorden and Down Syndrome are both mental disease, and any person with that sort of problem should be treated with respect. Nobody's saying she has Down Syndrome, please try to write as if you weren't THAT stupid ;)
And just leave this fucked-up girl alone!

Bitch please.

IT'S THE FUCKING INTERNET.

Everyone is fair game. I hope she blows her fucking brains out on live tv.

I don't care if it's Britney Spears or 9/11, it gives me lollerskates and roflcopters.

Too bad that kid didn't crash that plane into the Miley Cyrus concert. *That* would've been some funny shit.

#62. I was fucking with you.

I hate Britney! Yes, like Bipolar said"Britney is just a Big Baby - She needs to grow up and stop looking for Pap Smears to Rescue her from herself." I agree.
lol...

I am babysindy, big & hot girl, I am exploring the lifestyle of people through their sexy photos and sexy videos on bbwconnect.com. If you are interesting, you will find everything ...

guys, being bi-polar is a real disease that people do not easily accept they have. Believe me. My friend suffers from the disease and he has gotten into a lot worse of a mess than Britney.
It will take time for her to understand that she will only be ok while on the medications. She has definitely clearly gone through the manic episodes. My friend believed he could control time and reach a state of enlightenment that other people could not even comprehend while he was manic.
I can't even imagine what it's like to have a mental illness AND be stalked by the paparazzi everywhere. All we can do for Britney is pray she heals and stays on her medications and gets back to being healthy and happy. My thoughts are with her, as your's should be too.

well if she is on meds, maybe they'll eventually cause her to crash hard and she'll start getting thoughts of suicide. I'm all for that!

@37 I just wanted to clarify a point with you.

Down's syndrome babies are not "ill" in the sense that they need constant medical . While there may be manifestations of mental illiness within a group of Down's Syndrom children, they are likely to be more outgoing and socially savvy.

It most certainly has nothing to do with mental illness. I think, for Brit, she needs to come clean about the frightening, sad, destructive turn this womand's life has taken.

I can say that if my DH and I ever got divorced I would go immediately to therapy to avoid the messiness of all of this.

But the bottom line is that I love my little cure blonde haired monster-girls to distracration. And anyone who tried to mess with me, or with them, would find a most unpleasant "end of discussion".

But back to Brit ..., I really hope she finds a doc she trusts and the medications work for her. Lithium is one of the oldest drugs available for bipolar disorder. The disease does not usually manifest with hallucinations., If she's doing a lot of "extra" drugs that could interfere with the therapy.

I wish her well, I really do.

I agree with dillbeast. And to all the people saying that this is just a byproduct of her being famous and wanting attention, thats crap. People can have mental disorders that surface at any time. It's usually that it was an underlying problem. Sometimes even drugs (perscription or not) can set off a manic episode in someone who is bipolar. My brother was treated for depression with Lexapro, which ended up sending him into a manic phase. I think it's cruel for everyone to be so harsh. Yeah, she seems a little looney, and her music isn't that great, but go screw yourself. Get a life, instead of sitting around criticizing someone for a damn mental disorder.

I was diagnosed manic psychotic but have been doing well in recent years. I am 5' 4" with a big smile and an IQ of 92 but I still need love ya know? I have an undescended testicle and no body hair but I still think I am a man.
You guys really should lighten up a little on some of less fortunates.
There. I said it. Any ladies interested in someone like me?

#73...wow- it's all you, all the time, eh? Guess what? NOBODY GIVES A FUCK. Unless you are the ER nurse who brings Britney back from the edge of death after a spectacular overdose, see above.
And all of you bipolar assholes should be rounded up and put in cages. You are nothing but a bunch of problems that nobody needs or wants.
No offense, mind you, but fuck I'm tired of everybody having some fucking illness that gives them license to bitch and moan and take NO responsibility for their lives. SUCK IT UP PEOPLE.

67 -- So the link here is that bi-polar disorden and Down Syndrome are both mental disease...

Down Syndrome is not a mental disease; it's a genetic disorder caused by an extra chromosome. It is not treatable. DS peeps have learning disabilities and limited cognative abilities. Given their limitations, they generally are what they are and are typically happy and kind people.

BP is a roller coaster ride that is treatable. Untreated, the BP person can be everything from an outgoing, successful fun person everyone loves to a total whack job and anything in between.

Not really comparing apples to apples...

If it's true that she's on medication and she doesn't take it, that just shows her arrogance and stupidity. She thinks she's too good to have to take medication to control her mental illness. Well, gee, isn't she special... *shakes head* No pity whatsoever.

There is an incidental relation between bipolar disorder and Down Syndrome: only a retard would believe Britney is bipolar.

Bipolars aren't retarded, they're geniuses. They take the mood swings that everybody has and make them into a "disorder" that entitles them to disability benefits, plus talking about themselves all day long and taking no responsibility for their actions. Bravo.

wow, how interesting. mental illness has had a huge stigma and has been joked about for many decades now. but damn it if britney dumb fuck won't make it all about her. she brings the shit on herself... if she doesn't want to be embarrassed by the incredibly dumb shit she's always pulling, GET YOUR HEAD OUT OF YOUR ASS AND STAY THE FUCK HOME!!!! Nobody wants you anyways, stupid ass. Fuckin A....

not medicated enough.

she is so beautiful.. but someone said she joined an online service
SugarMommaMatch.c it is a site for men to date sexy women or rich women date cute men.. spoil and support
them. what a f slur..

Actuallly, it is common for those with bipolar to discontinue medication when they feel better. It's also common for them to refuse to take medication at all, sometimes because they feel 'productive' during their manic highs. Just wait, I predict Jesus Cruise will get his claws into her once he gets wind that she's seeing shrinks. He's claim that 'vitamins and exercise' will cure all of her problems. Back off, bitch Cruise, crazy NEEDS her meds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Remember my prediction, it WILL happen!
