Legendary opera singer Luciano Pavarotti died early this morning at the age of 71. He had been battling pancreatic cancer since 2006. His manager Terri Robson said in a statement: "The Maestro fought a long, tough battle against the pancreatic cancer which eventually took his life. In fitting with the approach that characterized his life and work, he remained positive until finally succumbing to the last stages of his illness."

So sorry he was a great singer! RIP

I can't believe this guy was in his 70's, he looked good for his age.

Oh fishy! What Superficial and mean things are we supposed to say about him?

I got nothing.... unless he slept with Paris and died of a herpes-related injuries or Kate Hudson dumped him and he tried to off himself - it's just not funny...

What a voice. He certainly brought the art to a lot more people.

Today is the day that music died! So long Luciano.

last song .................................la la la la i am a fuckin dead............. put too much food in mia head........... la la la la

so long greaseball

The choir of angels has a new star.

Fuck you Tommy.

7. oh my god.............

Wooowww!!!!!!!!!!

*Rest in Peace*

Number 6 go to a post about Paris or Lindsay and talk crap. Leave this guy alone.

He will be missed!

An amazing talent the world has lost... What almost saddens me more is that there are people who will say innapropriate things- anything other than the normal words of sorrow, loss and condolences- and they are still on this earth... Grow up and get a life people! Pavarotti's gone : (

Luciano Pavarotti arrived in hell this morning......he was greeted by j.f.k., princess diana, reagan, mr rogers and captain kangaroo.......

I love to fart ----------------->

The man was a P - I - G!!

I attended one of his concerts. After every song, he would go backstage and EAT. He would then return to the stage, and blow chunks of chicken, rice and small children into the first row.

I should have sent him the bill for the dry cleaning.

One of the greatest voices of our time. Perhaps the greatest.

Now that he's passed on, the world is a whole lot more crappy and talent-free.

omg! i was having such a nice day before i read this! i refuse to believe it! i can't believe he's dead, he was such an icon! he will be missed! r.i.p pavarotti!

i heard like liked little boys from thailand and had a thing for ''fingering''...........

what a fat greaseball wop pig i am glad he died.....maybe the starving kids of africa now have a change to get some of the worlds food supply that the fat singer had earmarked for his gullet

R.I.P.

i once titty fucked him for a dvd of the 3 tenors

Some of you guys really need to learn some respect, I mean Christ, the man died, and he was a great singer btw!

You people can’t be serious?

What can be said, the guy was the size of a small country and has a mole on his face that probably speaks more languages then any of us. You could find at least 3 new species of animals living in that mangy beard. It looks like he colored his hair with a sharpie marker. His average meal could feed all of Angelina’s kids and a handful of other third world orphans for a week. Even being famous couldn’t get this guy free sex.

You people are lame because Opera is supposedly cultured you feel the need to act with reverence when this guy bites it. Oh shit I just said the fat guy bit it! But I guess that is a given. He is the epitome of the gluttonous life style that we mock on this site. Just be glad Pavarotti is dead or he might try to eat the high horse you are sitting on.

If anyone cares... his version of Nessun Dorma is one of the most amazing performances ever. Very emotional when it crescendos. LimeWire the live version if you can. Cheers.

Meh... seriously, he was just a fucking opera singer. What good has he done to deserve such high praise? I'm not a fan of the music style but I can express sentiments that he had talent... Still, I honestly couldn't care much if he beat the cancer or not... plenty of people die from it all the time and nobody gives a damn.

If you really need to express regrets over someone's death, go find a list of Red Cross volunteers or something. Christ, even Girl Scouts do more good than his guy did, and they're plain EVIL.

I was far more saddened when Merv Griffin went... Wheel of Fortune, now THAT'S a contribution to society!

he looked good for his age! never thought he was 71...

I'm Italian and I heard Big Luciano live, years ago... I can tell you twas the most exciting experience of my life. Really he could touch everyone heart! God bless him. He wa JUST a singer, it's true, but his song were really the best ever (as interpretation, of course)

Meh, he was alright, but he was no Justin Timberlake.

The fat lady sang..............

Ridi, Pagliaccio!
sul tuo amore *cough hack cough, thud of hamhock hitting the floor after falling from Pavarrotti's mouth* infranto!
Ridi del duol, che t'avvelena il cor!

#25,

I've heard the guy could be a prick, but he was involved in numerous humanitarian organizations and gave far more money to charities than you and I are even capable of. That's not giving the guy a pass - it's just a fact.

I dont know about y'all, but I'd hit it. Then bust all over Veggo's face. What ever happend to Veggi? You ok Veggi?

Hey you above me, whats with you wanting to bust all over people's faces?

Terribly sad...he was a wonderful singer..

shame. goodbye and a save journey. god bless you.

EXACTLY! Thankyou... *waddles off in search of cheetoes*

On a realted note his casket will be carried by 30 of his closest friends...

ba ding!

I was on an aircraft carrier when Diana was killed. On the mess decks the talk was: Did you hear about Princess Diana? She was killed by that Pavarotti guy" Of course the rumor was that the accident was caused by the pap's chasing the car, and a flash bulb blinded the driver, causing him to lose control. By the time it got out to the ship, Pavarotti had killed her....

sadness....R.I.P.

This fat fuck left his wife for a woman 1/3 of his age, basically a whore after his money and he is supposed to be mourned? Good Riddance Fatman. What does RIP mean for him - Rest In Pies?

Silly goose. Everyone knows fat people go to hell.

Nooooooo.... :( Ever since I was young I listened to his music. My dad was a great fan of the opera and classical music and Pavarotti's performance as the Duke in Rigoletto is the most memorable one ever seen by me. Pavarotti never managed to continue his final live tour and visit my country because of his illness, but I'm glad I saw him once in Italy.
With the greatest respect, rest in peace.

NOOOOoooooooooooooOOOOOOOOOooooooo!

i dont know why everyone says he looked good for his age... he didnt look 'good' for any age. he was old and sick and it was his time to go, and anyone that is in denial of it would be the same person who would keep grandma on a respirator being tube fed, just so she could live a loooong life (in a coma, without brain function) full of shitting herself and being rolled around by underpaid nursing home attendants. everybody dies, and im not sure why its a tragedy when a long and full life comes to a natural end.

He never had a bad thing to say about anybody.

poor guy. he was such a legend and is no doubt mostly resposible for the 90s generation knowing anything about opera. since the 60s he's been such a figurehead. it comes as more of a shock to me, because i didn't know his age, and to me he really didn't look 71.

RIP, Maestro. You will be missed.

tisk, tisk people....My Italian grandmother says to not speak ill of the dead...

Besides his voice was amazing and incredible and it is quite a loss to the world of classical music. He is the One that opened up that forum to the masses. His voice was so fantastic and his treatment of music so smooth and fluid that even people who would have never cared for classical could enjoy and appreciate it.

Sad to lose such the greatest voice of opera. Rest in peace! You will be missed!

Nooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!

*cries*

your gandmother was a stupid whore that is sucking monkey cocks in hell.

(pukes up pea soup)

This is my favorite video of him singing his signature piece. At the end, the look of pure passion is very compelling: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RdTBml4oOZ8

Anyone want some cheap tickets to his funeral?? I can get some just click my name... let me know.....They are only a tenor...

Pancreatic cancer is no joke. Killed my dear ole pa last year too. R.I.P.

Fuckin guinea greaseball glutton. I'm glad it was a painful lingering cancer death. Almost makes me believe in God. Almost.

The lack of respect shown by some of the posters here is disgusting. He was a magnificent singer with more talent than the combination of pretty much every celebrity mentioned on this site. As a passionate lover of opera I was very sad to hear this news. I hope he rests in peace and that his music will continue to live on as it certainly will for me.

Also, I just wanted to commend the individual who runs The Superficial. He makes fun of those who certainly deserve it, for they really are superficial arseholes, but whenever there is news of a serious nature relating to celebrities he always manages to comment with respect and never pokes fun at those have passed.

p.s. That is not to say I approved of his penchant for fondling young boys. I always felt conflicted because that type of behavior is reprehensible, but then again, he had such a great talent, and he only fondled (no insertion). It would be wonderful if all our superstars were perfect, but I suppose it could be said that mild distress in a group of ordinary boys is not too high a price to pay for our enjoyment of a great genius at work.

Hey Andrea - at the end, when he was incontinent, what was it like to have your tongue so far up his ass?

Fish, I'm digging seeing straight reporting here. Gives the site more dimension.

Anyone interested, enter "Pavarotti" on youtube. They have a bunch of videos of him performing, including some awesome duets with American R&B greats like James Brown and Barry White. Spectacular.

#51 They have monkey dicks in hell??
Huh, that is somethin'.

He was the Michael Jackson of the opera world.

man, some of you people are pure E-V-I-L

Yeh. Smooth and fluid. Just like when I piss on your face.

I can't wait until we get to 69!

When he died, did he poop in his pretty panties? Tee hee.

#67 Hey!! I took it like a well-behaved girl. BUT did you have to eat that fucking asparagus last time???

I heard the funeral is going to be catered by KFC.

I wish I could have had his voice.

I will miss all the beauty he brought to this ugly world.

Riiiiiri! Pagliaccio!! La lalalalalalalla.

That's a shame. He'll be missed. People, eat lots of dark berries. Stock up on the anti-oxes, save yourself from the Big Casino.

RIP

A voice that soared! Rest in Peace Signor Pavarotti and thank you for the great memories. BRAVO!

@60

*To all others, I apologize in advance for the length of this post.

Andrea I am disappointed, but you are right I am disgusting and it feels sooo good. Just because you appreciate his music does not make him any different then any other person pictured on this site. In the past month there has been spousal abuse, drug addictions, dramatic endings to relationships and many others sad items posted. All of these things tare at the hearts of those personally involved yet have been used as fodder for our warped and corrupted psyches. Regardless of your opinion this is no different.

Yes he has passed, yes he was talented but no one is above ridicule, mockery or any of the other wonderfully dark things that pump through the minds of the people posting here. This is a Neverland of un-politically correctness. If only you believe, say it with me “I believe, I believe, I believe”.

Stop being such a hypocrite; you are here for the same reason as everyone else. You just happen to have a personal connection to the subject matter today. This is no different then a Britney fan that gets upset when she is pictured here you just have marginally better linguistic skills.

It is so easy to shrug off the feelings of others because you view them as inferior, untalented, unintelligent etc that does not make said feelings less real. Just because you don’t respect a certain celebrity’s body of work does not make them less. It is all subjective. So take a good hard look at yourself and why you are here in the first place before deciding to make such statements.

I had a certain amount of respect for you and your defense for something you care for until I saw you post @61. “Only fondling - No insertion”, please does that mean I can beat a woman as long as there is no bruising? Can TT be a just a little gay (sorry TT, I like you)? Your morals are as lacking as your grammar in the last sentence. Coming from someone who bastes in the filth that this world has to offer that is really saying something.

25 - besides the fact that he was a good samaritan and DID donate to charities (its always best to know facts before you talk badly about someone, just to let you know), he was someone famous who actually had talent. Nowadays that alone should have won him a medal or something.

Just because YOU don't like opera doesn't mean he was no one special. He spread the love of opera and music in general to many people, and inspired others to do the same. That probably means nothing to you, but to those whose lives he touched that is an amazing feat.
I suppose everyone you know goes around saving lives for a living. No? Well then I guess they don't deserve to be mourned when they pass. Is it worth nothing to work hard and be good at what you do if your job doesn't involve saving lives?

Seriously I know Red Cross workers who hate their job. Yeah, real heroes..

I don't know why, but this made me sad. I never gave this guy a second thought, and yet I always knew of him through out my childhood, into adulthood. Pretty much everyone breathing did. He's an icon. Its like when I heard that "superman" became paralyzed (and then died too). Or when "Mike Brady" turned out to be gay and then died of Aids. Ok, so Pavarotti was an amazing talent and probably more impressive than those examples...but what I'm saying is its just weird and gave me the same weirded out feeling. Maybe it just means I'm getting old, blah!

to all you morons who cannot simply say "R.I.P." to a person who has recently lost their life.. are you that childish? It isn't about him (or any person who died) being famous or not. He died! That doesn't mean you have to say "Oh.. so what? A lot of people die of cancer and nobody cares about them.." Well, we don't hear about those other people. So the people you DO hear about, just say something acceptable or nothing at all. And to FartCloud and people like him, you would never be able to afford to have gone to an opera in which Pavarotti was in so get over yourself.

A pox. A pox upon your houses. Flawed? Who isn't? Seriously flawed? Yes. But to revel, to enjoy the death of another . . . that, is perversion. Even when the situation dicates the individual deserves death, one must never revel in the party of sick mockery. I pass no judgement on his skills . . . I'm not qualified. But, were he even the worst man to live, I would never have displayed the audacity to dance upon his grave. To dance, to joy, for the suffering of others . . . that is the sign of a weak and diseased mind.

81 - Merc

If I look for you tomorrow, will I find a grave man????

(hahahaha, I love Shakespeare and just saw Midsummer Dream in Central Park on Tuesday)

Oh YAWN YAWN to all the "show some respecter's" this is SUPERFICIAL not for licking dead celebs arses.

82 - Shallow

Oh, tomorrow, you should find nothing but a grave skeleton, but one that has its thumb firmly bitten upon.

(he,he, still one of my favorite lines.) Unfortunately, Yardley, PA is slightly lacking in its Shakespearean theater. A great WaWa, though.

PS - And, how'd this go from a discussion of Pavarotti (RIP) to Shakespeare?

81--Methinks thou art a shithead.

85 - Quite the retort . . . you must have been a Rutgers student, or perhaps, a Lafayette grad. Ah, the use of expletives . . . the final evidence of one who is utterly incapable of witty banter. Well met, Sister, well met. Perhaps, in your next posting, you could throw the gauntlet down with something so potent . . . so powerful . . . I'm thinking, maybe, you should label me a "doo doo head"? Tell me, are multi-syllabic "put-downs" popular among the other special ed. students?

@81

Truly a beautiful and appropriate quote, but using another’s words as your own doesn’t make you smart it just makes you sound pompous. However it seems to be working with the ladies, so more power to you. I like the comment on 86 much better.

I am getting bored. Not only is my mind weak and diseased I have a short attention span and have been on the subject far too long. Plus its after 5:00, I am out of here. I know the tears are piling up like plates in front of Pavarotti at a buffet.

Another time another post perhaps; it has been fun.

Fucking hell, you guys are brutal. You're not impressing anyone with your ruthless attitudes towards this man's death - you just look like arseholes.

Even if you didn't like him (I didn't - good singer but not my thing), it doesn't mean you should be ridiculing him on the day of his death and making tasteless jokes which, by the way, aren't remotely funny. Yeah, he was fat. He was the first person to admit that and poke fun at himself, you're not being 'edgy' by joking about it on the internet.

R.I.P to a talented musician who broke many boundaries in the industry and inspired thousands.

i was so shocked today. he will be missed. RIP

RIP

Ciao, Luciano.

Not my favorite, but definitely a great. He was infinitely better than any rocker who merely pretends to sing, but sounds more like a sufferer from terminal constipation and sinusitis. His voice was light and beautiful (not an adjective you hear about rockers) and well-suited to baroque music of which he sang too little. His voice was definitely not thin, unlike male rockers today. For example, I saw Justin Timberlake unsuccessfully attempt to sing an easy show tune. Grrrr!

RIP

BTW, I attended one of Three Tenors concerts. :-)

Vincerò!

Rest In Peace.

for the user: somewhereinthemiddle

Yo just sound like the Virginia Psycho killer whos angry at life and who just doesnt have anything else to do but regret he was born, so why ont you just shut it and do us a favour and kill urself so the world is finally freed from all the psychos like you?

And for Tommy salami (what a stupid name!)
You are just saying all that stuff becauseyou know nobody can come and hit youin your face for saying such bullshit! You must be a HUGE FAT ASS yourself but noboda can see you to tell you huh? You are REALLY pathetic, and did you see how many posts youve written? You dont even hve a life! You just feed on others disgrace and actually think you are funny or admirable, but you couldnt be more the opposite!
so please try to learn some respect and also, Im sure the only thing youve EVER titi fucked was your dog, so close your mouth ok?
The fact that you are here continously posting shit here doesnt only show you are a freak, but also that youre sooo ugly that you dont even know a chick other than te ones in the pics on this site. People read this site to gossip, but not to irrespect other decent people!
FUCK OFF DICK HEAD!

Fondling (no insertion), causing mild distress in a group of ordinary boys. Freakin' awesome.

@94

So when Pavarotti fondled you, did it cause you mild distress?

78 - perfectly stated. Thank you.

While I care he had to die that way (cancer sucks!) I will not miss his music. I HATE opera with a passion. My ma made me listen to a 3 tenors cd untold number of times and it made me want to shove an ice pick in my ears. :(

Adios, dude.

He had an excellent voice, and he sang some of the best music opera had to offer. It's a great achievement, and it's a little annoying to see his best, most valuable characteristic belittled because he was fat, or not "socially conscious" enough, or that he sang in a genre of music that people despise because it's held on such a high pedestal.

For those of you saying that he was overweight and that his death is a boon to starving Thirld World children everywhere, let me remind you that pancreatic cancer destroys the Islets of Langerhans, which control insulin production. The loss of sugar level control contributed a great deal to his weight condition.

Please be considerate and think before you bad-mouth someone.

the guy was a thief.
back in 1990 he declared to the italian equivalent of the IRS he earned something like 1000$ for the whole year, while it has been demonstrated he earned more than 3.5 MILLION dollars. in 1995 he declared 8000$ while he earned 5 MILLION dollars.

too bad people seems to forget this kind of things when people die...

M

tommy.. what is your problem? you retard!! GO GET A LIFEE ASSHOLE!

I say some of you need to go get a life.... someone died, whether or not you like his music shouldn't matter, he was an amzing man...... you're just jealous cos unlike Pavarotti who the world loved. nobody loves you and wouldn't care if you died.

I grew up listening to him, he was amazing. This is so sad...

RIP

Pavarotti had a remarkable voice. For the undiscerning miscreant earlier to have said that talent is a subjective phenomema is not true. Everything in the universe exists on a gradient; wet, wetter, wettest. Anyone can sing. Some can sing to the clamor of loud electronic instruments drowning their voices.
It is an objextive statement that there are people of considerable talent and those with virtually none who are nonetheless promoted by the filthy, shallow culture, all capitalistically motivated as the average intellect is incapable of grasping subteties.
Anyway I gotta go. Go eat a hamburger loaded with the poisons of modern farming "techniques".
PS please do not reproduce. The world is overloaded with common scum.

He was an amazing singer. I get goosebumps when I hear Nessun Dorma Rest in peace.

I like #105. The man had talent and brought a lot of joy to millions of people. I always enjoyed his singing, and remember listening to him in wonder on NPR. I don't really care what he did in his personal life, that's not my concern. Nor did that effect his talent. I also agree that's it's disgusting that some of you tend to dance on the graves of people who have died. There's a huge lack of respect, and it's sad that the guy that runs this site has more respect than you. Yes, it is the superficial, but, at least he knows when and when it's not appropriate to mock a human being. I would say that I hope there's someone who will spit on your grave, but, I'm not that disrespectful, even to common trash like yourselves.

Big whoop. It's not like he molests little children, what does anyone care? What has he done?

Cancer my ass. This whole thing reeks of a momma Kass. Ham sandwich anyone?

Whatever dude, there is only on Maestro

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pzull7scV2Y

Whatever man, there is only ONE Maestro

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pzull7scV2Y

If this guy was alive you'd all flame but now he's dead HOW DARE YOU!

All I gotta say is - #61 - "NO INSERTION" - absolutely brilliant, thank you!!!

"Free the pervs who don't insert!"

"All they want is to harmlessly rub themselves off!"

I can belive some people ( dumb ) can leave some messages like that ( tommy you suck )... he was a singer, he was a father and a self made man...he was fat and so?! ...YOU are ugly....RISPECT first of all....

Fuck off trolls, who cares if you don't like his music? He was someone's son and someones father, not to mention a talented musician, and half the people calling him fat are probably just sad, overweight losers themselves who get cheap little thrills out of other people's misfortune because their own lifes are so pathetic. R.I.P.
