God doesn't necessariy want you to drive a Hummer or live in a McMansion, that's not what makes Him happy. Thinking that it does just stinks like the inner evil that is the collective ego that is the driving force behind the conventional "wisdom" that is feeding our quest for "liberty," protection of "our way of life," and overall consumer driven, materialistic behavior. It's just wrong (sit quietly, search your heart, pray, and you too will know this).

My comments weren't so much about bashing PH specifically or trying to make her out to be evil incarnate. She's actually a product of her environment which is a mine field of evilness. The subtext/undertone is truly about much bigger issues (the money/power - corruption dichotomy is certainly at the core).

We've created the Paris's of the world. What disgusts me more than Paris's behavior (which btw is no worse than that of a broad subsection of "party till you puke" American culture) is that in pursuit of the almighty dollar the media perpetuates this trash by giving it air time. It's like Jerry Springer or Howard Stern doing their thing in the mass media by portraying the worst, the most baseless, and classless behavior as "mainstream." People need to stand up and give an opposing voice and speak back to the media and call that sort of "reporting" or "entertainment" what it is - TOTAL FILTH. That type of media involvement is doing nothing but using sensationalism (and many times manufacturing stories that are unreal) of a trashy subsection of society for the pursuit of their corporate profits and ratings (which in turn affect ad value)... And because of the media's promotion in these areaa some gullible, uneducated, uninformed people out there actually begin to believe that that type of behavior is okay, normal, accetable, or mainstream. Voices of reason, people who really care about the future of our children and our planet and our salvation, those who are truely caring leaders need to speak out, rise up, and retailiate against that kind of valueless "reporting and entertainment."

The media has a moral obligation to society to NOT follow and report on people like Paris Hilton, to NOT give voice to filthy media whores like Jerry Springer and Howard Stern. These people add no socially redeeming value whatsoever - in any context. It's disgusting to me that anyone would actually pay attention to people like Paris, Jerry, and Howard. These people are harmful to our society - they do more harm than good and the media gives them voice to perpetuate that harm (for the sake of corporate profits) - that's what pisses me off. And it should piss you off too. I'm not saying that they aren't products of their environment with their "piggish" behavior (who can blame them when our entire planet is being overtaken by piggish, ugly, evil, self serving, and intolerant people). What I am saying is that the media, to generate corporate profits, gives them a platform to perpetuate the ulitmate harm they do to the fabric of our society (similar to the way "music" promoters give voice to the thuggish, trashy brand of rap "music" they're promoting just to make a buck). Profits, making money, getting rich, being famous, etc. are not the most important things in this life. Are these really supposed to be core American values - or are we not learning and evolving? Our freedoms are not to be subjugated to any one form of economic system. It's the other way around the economic system should be subject to our freedom of choice. For some reason our government is turning our country into the US of (your logo goes here)... For some reason our society, our govermnent, our media and the vast majority of individuals in the american culture have forgotten which values actually have substance and which are to be spoken out against. I for one would like to see the media elevate its game and get some integrity and be less profit driven. The behavior as exemplified by PH, Jerry, Howard, etc., and their "collective deleterious voice" that is so prevalent and encourgaged in and by the media, is one of the things that's wrong with American culture.

I was baffled at such unnecessary hypocrisy, I mean she could've used that space to say like, yeah, "I smoke pot, I use coke sometimes, I like to party, I'm young, so what?"
