Ok, from a legal perspective, it's pretty crazy to file a writ of habeas corpus over an 18-day stay in the county pokey for a traffic violation. Her lawyers are going to the federal government to say that the state is holding her illegally because there is some violation of her federal constitutional rights, people. So now it's not just state resources but federal that are being wasted. I am thinking this can't be right...surely it's a writ on mandamus, which means the judge is overstepping his bounds.

Driving multiple times (2 or 3 times, depending upon who's reporting it) is like extending your middle finger to the judge who gave you the "slap on the wrist" punishment that Paris was given after her drunk driving arrest in September. But instead of counting her blessings, she goes and drives again and again even though she could easily have hired someone to do the driving for her.

When she flips off the judge who went easy on her, this is what she gets. She ASKED for it. She DESERVES it. And anyone else who does it gets the SAME TREATMENT. Get it?

Her ridiculous lie that she "didn't know" she couldn't drive might have caught some air the first time, but the judge already knew she'd been told before this last arrest that she can't drive on a suspended license, and yet she continued to do so and then LIED to the judge about not knowing. Another thing one just doesn't do to a judge is try to lie one's way out of being punished. It just makes them think that you think they're stupid, and, well, it just makes them mad.

BRAVO to Judge Sauers for having the stones to make his ruling stick despite all the legal maneuvering on her behalf due solely to her vast wealth. What they had was "failure to communicate". I believe the judge has now finally managed to "communicate" with Paris. Probably the first authority figure in her entire life who wasn't swayed by her emotional little meltdown. (I've known 3 year olds who exhibit more maturity.) Someone ought to slap her mother, too, for being such a pathetic whiner.

I work in the California legal system myself, and I know of many DUI defendants who got MORE than 45 days for doing LESS than Paris did (i.e., driving only once on a suspended license after getting probation). And they didn't get out after only a day or two for crying, being "sick" or any of the other crap that this woman has gotten away with.

She received preferential treatment while she was in the Lynwood jail, and my guess is she's STILL getting it at Twin Towers at this very moment. I say, send her to Sybil Brand -- if she thought Lynwood was bad . . .

Why do you think they give judges discretion over sentencing? So they can give lesser sentences to offenders who have demonstrated taking responsibility for their actions. If they show regret, admit they were wrong, and if it's a first offense the judge will go light on them.

What did this idiot do? She refused to go to court, and when she did go she went late (which equals insta-pissed judge), she had a team of lawyers trying to prove that even though she was drunk and behind the wheel she shouldn't have pay for it, and she sent a freaking petition to the governor!

The judge knew going in that she didn't have a shred of remorse for what she'd done, and not only that she was consistently disrespectful to the court by being late, showing she had no respect for the process. Something to think about. On Thursday, Paris is released from jail after a mere three days. The stock market tanks. Friday, Judge Michael T. Sauer (A True American Hero)orders her bony diseased ass dragged away screaming and thrown back in jail. The Dow Jones sees its biggest rise in two months. If we could just somehow convince the State of California to execute the vapid, venal twit, it could quite possibly set off the greatest economic boom in history. Hell, they might even find a cure for cancer. It would be an unprecedented era of prosperity, peace and enlightenment. Think about it. Let's start a petition.

OK kiddies, listen up.

I spent one night in that same jail in LA, and it's hell on earth. I got pulled over on Hollywood Fwy after consuming 4 ounces of wine, and got busted for DUI. I had no idea I was over the legal limit, did not have a tiny buzz, and was really shocked when they hauled me on. Pay attention thin women, this can happen to you too.

I was the only caucasian in my cell block, except one wigger who kept calling me "Bu".
There were soaring high crackheads roaming and babbling, so 5 women and I made a circle with our backs against each other to protect ourselves in case one of the crackies got violent. Black, white, brown women -- all of us were scared to death.
2 beautiful Latina ladies also had been arrested for DUI outside a Hollywood dance club after drinking ONE BEER. They were wearing evening gowns, and in tears since they were single moms, had small children at home and jobs to maintain. Most everyone else was in there because they were too poor to pay their parking tickets which went to warrant. Most of them committed only the crime of poverty. It was really sad.

Plastic bags with pancakes and syrup were thrown at us like we were dogs. If you opened the bag, the syrup drizzled out on the floor and there were clumps of human hair stuck in the goo. A garbage bag had been provided for used tampons, but had not been picked up in 20 hours or so. It was just filthy and gross in there. There was a toilet to use in the middle of the room. There were thin plastic "mattresses" and no blankets. If you were lucky enough to be able to sleep a few winks, a nurse arrived at 4AM to blaze on flourescent lights and ask if anyone needed an aspirin. 4AM??? They woke people up on purpose to be sadistic, not that I was asleep since I was freezing cold.

They cut a bar of soap into 16 pieces and gave us each a sliver and a washcloth to use for a towel if we wanted to shower. One of the crack hos said "This will only wash 50 cent of my a$$". That's the only laugh I got during the entire ordeal.

I waited 2 hours in the line for a phone, and when I spoke to my best friend, I was crying too. She said they were waiting for the computers to come back up as I should have been released hours earlier since I had no criminal record. She said even the cops at the desk outside felt sorry for us.

I waited several more hours, and when my cellmates saw I refused to eat, one of them offered me an apple she had been hoarding for 3 days. It absolutely broke my heart. She was in there because she also was too broke to pay some fine, so she could not renew her driver's license and got busted sitting on a bus bench when the cops asked to see some ID. She was from South Central LA, and was just a poor, 50-something black woman down on her luck, hurting nobody. She was going to do 14 days in that hellhole.

Of course Paris Hilton is freaking out! She has never seen people like this in her entire life, and she probably went into total shock in that brief 3 days of reality. That's why she's crying. NOBODY
who has not committed some really terrible crime should have to go to jail in L.A.
IT'S TRULY HORRIBLE.

P.S. I was acquitted of the DUI by a jury since the reason I was stopped was I was the only person driving THE LEGAL SPEED LIMIT, and the cops thought I was trying to hide something [I was not]. P.P.S. Had the same lawyer Paris has now. She should have used for her probation hearing, and she would not be in this freaking mess.

Miss Hilton, being as brilliant as she usually is(note the sarcasm), is essentially doing the number one mistake. She represents the classical example of someone who is rich and powerful (although not due to self but rather because of mommy and daddy), and thus attempts to bypass responsibility, or justice if you will. As a result, miss popularity here (note the sarcasm again)is slowly but surely establishing herself as a fiercely hated persona (people magazine reported huge outrage and criticism from different fronts). As such I ask, why not advise this bizzare creature called Paris Hilton to actually serve her time (omg, it's 23 full days!!!), come out as a prime example of "just legal system", or "justice being served" or better yet a "Hollywood-hero", write a book titled "Memoirs of Paris" (damn, it even sounds good),and prevent all sorts of hateful responses?
