Poster #120 and #103 both have firsthand knowledge of Odessa, and they both say negative things about it. Plus countless other people who already have the common knowledge that Texas sucks in general.

Oh, and before you start spewing inaccurate numbers at innocent people: the population of Odessa doesn't exceed 100,000. It's in the mid 90's. And anyone interested can look it up on google and see for themselves. I’ve been to places in the 200,000 mark, and the locals refer themselves as a town. And these were places WAY more interesting and had WAY more going for them than Shitdessa. So please, do not damage the word "city" by using it in the same sentence as Odessa ever again. Oh, and the unemployment rate is only close to 0 (if you consider 5% close to 0) if you are a white trash male or female. The numbers are much higher if you are a Hispanic, black, or any other race besides hillbilly. Don't believe me? Check it all out at city-data.com.

And to the poster who said people are nicer in Odessa than other places...you're full of shit. Odessa is a clannish, bible thumpery, lip-pursing, judgmental town that is afraid of new ideas and new people. This is from my own experience, and #103 seems to have the same idea.

Someone of your superior intellect and culture should never commit such a gaffe. Second, I never used the word "city" in any of my posts. If you would stop frothing at the mouth for a moment and take a breath, you would see that I used the term "community". As far as your statistics on population are concerned, here's a direct quote from Wikipedia concerning Odessa. "The city and its surrounding suburbs had a population of 125,339 as of 2005." (Someone needs to call Wikipedia and set them straight on the usage of the word "city".) Your unemployment rate statistics are also a bit outdated. The actual current unemployment rate is just over 3% as of November 2006. That's as close to "almost zero" as you're going to get in ANY town, community or "cultured" city, but I digress.

It's clear from your posts that you absolutely HATE Odessa. You also hate Texas in general. I'm guessing, from the tone of all your posts, that you hate just about everyone and everything. where still on this? come on people. first of all, both city-data and wikipedia are correct. city-data focused on odessa alone, and wikipedia included surrounding suburbs. second of all, why are we still talking about a dumb comedian and a boring town in texas? third of all, did you people not read my post about how odessa is mainly hispanic?

I went to high school in Odessolate.

I went to college in Lubbock - which is even WORSE if you can imagine. At least you can get good weed in Odessa.

I high-tailed it out of satan's rectal part of texas after my useless degree from Texas Tech, and have lived happily in Boston and Manhattan for over 10 years now.

I am indeed, however, planning on moving back to Texas, Austin, to be exact, where at least you have a buffer zone to people from Odessa, and its widely considered, the blue city in a red state.

Americans in general, SUCK. I have been all over the world, my family is not from this country, which explains why I am so cool, and everyone else sucks. HA!
