As communities Blacks, Native Americans, and Latinos often tend to blame White people for their social problems because let's face it, their ancestors are to blame. The Mexican people were robbed of their land and freedom to serve as slaves. The Africans were robbed of their land, their culture, and their freedom to serve as slaves. The Native Americans were stripped of their land and culture and forced to live on barren lands in the Plains. Not to mention what happened to the Jewish and Asian-American during WWII.

Not every Black person runs on the thug mentality. Not ever Black person grew up in the City, or without money. Not every Black person slings crack or sits on their ass. When I saw his apology, I could see that he was sincere. Anyone who says differently isn't really looking at his body language, facial expressions and tone of voice.

I know it must seem hard for people to understand how someone who does not consider themselves racist says something so blatantly racist. However, I experienced something similar and wanted to share.

Years ago, I was at my 5 year high school reunion and I was nervous and feeling a bit insecure about myself. A speaker was talking about a student that had been killed and I blurted out some really tasteless joke about it. My friends standing next to me who heard me were shocked that I had said it. I was shocked. I realized as soon as the words left me that I had made a mistake in saying it, and could not believe that it had even entered my mind, let alone was said by me.

Even though just a couple of people had heard it, and knew me well enough to know that I had not meant it; it has really haunted me that I could have been so uncaring at that moment.

I think that when we feel insecure about ourselves or when there are repressed feelings of anger, frustration or even fear, we are more prone to lash out randomly at the guy who cuts us off in traffic or the slow sales clerk checking us out when we are in a hurry.

Clearly Michael Richards lost it and what he said was unacceptable. I am glad he apologized about it and I hope that he does do some personal work, because lashing out like that shows he needs it for whatever reasons.

In regard to the racism issue, I think we all need to work on that. I am not suggesting we are all racist, but we do live in a society that still has many racist judgments that affect us all negatively every day.

First of all, if you had any critical thinking capabilities you would realize that African American's aren't the ones bringing the drugs into this country. So you should find fault in those who are high powered and have the means and funds to bring drugs into this country.
