Well girlfriend is freaken skinny. But I believe she isn't anorexic. I'm skinny, and people say that to me, but dammit, I'm just skinny naturally.

In other news, my butt isn't big, I just have big ass bones.

Oh and just because someone is skinny people always assume they're anorexic too. Some people just have fast metabolisms and can stay skinny while STILL eating.

My sources tell me someone pirates her food.

I don't know how these celebrities can even deny eating disorders when they look like that. If she were just skinny and not anorexic, her bones wouldn't be jutting out. Being thin means you still have some meat and actually look like you, you know, contain a little muscle mass. Eating disorders make you look like something from Tales from the Crypt.

It seems that no matter what a celebrity looks like they can be said to be too thin or too fat. I would imagine it very difficult to constantly be in the lime light and have people pushing you in one direction or another. True, she looks very thin, but that does not indicate an eating disorder. Anorexia is not just a matter of not eating it is a psychological condition. Throwing around a diagnoses like that based on someone being thin is like throwing around a diagnoses of ADHD when a kid shows some enthusiasm. We are too eager to slap labels on people, including ourselves.

Well since anorexia runs in the family, I wouldn't be surprised if she is too, whether she thinks so or not. If she's grown up around anorexic people, it's likely that she has a skewed view of what a healthy body looks like, what normal eating habits are, and such. To her, eating a piece of celery for the entire day might constitute as perfectly normal.

Anorexia isn't a psychological disorder. It just means you're weak-willed. My father told me that, and he used to tie me down and practice his golf swing on my head when I was little. Which is funny, because I don't ever remember him playing golf. It's also funny because until I was 16, I thought "time to play golf" was another term for when I accidentally wet myself while trying to force my way out of his gun locker.

Yes, she was slim in "Bend it Like Beckham" (and I SWEAR I didn't watch that movie of my own volition), but she sure as hell didn't look like she just emerged from Auschwitz. However in truth a lot of actresses get too skinny AFTER they've gotten famous. Nobody would ever say that Cameron Diaz wasn't hot in the movie "The Mask" then she got famous and now looks like the Joker.

Julia Roberts looked Hot and Curvey in Mystic Pizza...got famous and now looks like a cross between a horse and a preying mantis.

People always mix up anorexia and bulimia. I have a roommate who's bulimic and she's bigger than all of us and is a size 13 in pants. Bulimics are typically normal or overweight and you normally can't tell they're anorexic by just looking at them. Anorexics, on the other hand, are more obvious since they just don't eat.

OH, and for all of you who say there's no such thing as a fast metabolism or a healthy thin person - piss off, you're ill informed and jealous that you can't eat what you want & stay thin. I'm 5'6" and I fluctuate between 108 & 115-ish, with the higher end being mostly due to "cyclic" cravings. I've put on a couple of pounds in the last couple months (working at home now, so no running around the office to burn extra calories) but my average weight for the past few years has been about 104. I tried to talk to my doctors about gaining a bit to get to a "healthier" weight, and two different doctors have told me that I'm fine. They told me to stop worrying about it and my frame is very small and I'm naturally thin. I wish I could stop thinking about it and worrying about it so much, but society & my mom have driven me nutso about it. For decades now (I'm 31) my mom has been bugging me to eat eat eat. ONCE when I went up to 125 lbs (college dorm eating + a weight training class), she made fun of my ass. Recently, when my mom looked at a picture of me lying on a lounge chair in a bathing suit, she had the cajones to say, "wow, that picture's kinda deceiving, your legs look FAT." I almost threw her out. What's even sicker though is that by current hollywood/magazine standards I AM fat because I actually have an ass and hips & thighs rather than a completely fatless little boy frame.

Between the comments & criticisms & magazines & airbrushings, is it any wonder that a large number of women have varying degrees of body dysmorphic disorder??

107, yeah, I do have a lot to say on the subject. Countless people have made my body their business and it's rare that I get to vent about it. Sorry to take it out on you folks, I know you're not the ones calling me "skinny minnie" or saying "oh, you're skinny, I HATE you" (with actual hate in their eyes/voices) or making fun of me when I DO gain a couple of pounds, but it's so disgusting that weight issues have become the public's business and that BDD has become so prevalent because of it, and that normal skinny people can't just be normal skinny people anymore.

As for Kelly Ripa, I was just using her as an example of how some people are "allowed" to be thin without being attacked for it. Do I think she's anorexic? Probably not, but in all seriousness, it's not my place to say if SHE is or if anyone else is.

Skrpune, most of my closest friends are naturally skinny people. One of my very best friends is 5'3'' and maybe 110, and other is 5'5'' and has worked hard to get up to 120. Both of them have very little body fat, and they have itty bitty titties, but their sternums aren't sticking out. You're NOT a normal skinny person when your sternum is the most prominent part of your chest- then you're just unhealthy, and need to start eating again. Seriously, her body suggests she's been getting her diet advice from Elie Weisel's memoirs.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with being naturally skinny, but her bones are jutting out too far to be the result of a fast metabolism. Especially because six months ago her bones were staying nicely inside her skin.

I have to comment on #103's post regarding Kelly Ripa. Kelly Ripa is RIPPED she is 5' 4" but I would guess she weighs around 110 to 115. In the acceptable range for her height. She has a lot of lean muscle mass. Healthy. Keira on the other hand is 5' 7" and if she weighs 92 I'd be shocked. There isn't a toned muscle on that girl. Arms like spaghetti?

In another post I mentioned that my mother and sister are very, very thin and they contend with the same rude, unfeeling comments and attitudes that you do...but I must say that at 104 5' 6" (which is close to my mom's weight and height) I am sure you aren't anywhere near as bony looking as Knightly. i can't believe that some of these comments actually support the unhealthy weight of miss knightly. she's an attractive woman with a naturally slim build- but she seriously looks like a skeleton in those photos. thin and healthy is all well and good, but when concave chests and bones that jut out become the ideal female figure, i have to think somewhere along the line we've lost rationality.
