May 22 2006Jodie Foster embarrasses herself
Jodie Foster was a guest speaker at Penn's 250th Commencement and quoted Eminem's "Lose Yourself" as the final message to the graduates. The only explanation I can come up with is she's sick of winning Academy Awards and now wants to go for the coveted "Lamest Speech" award. In which case she's won it. Hands down. Unanimous decision. Two thumbs up.

Yo, you better lose yourself you stupid bitch.
Did she just get too stoned the night before to actually write a speech? Thank God for Sirius radio on the drive over to the commencement!
2. jujucabana - May 22, 2006 8:49 AM
that was stupid. mostly of the university for asking her to show up.
3. guest1234567 - May 22, 2006 8:51 AM
That's a lot of empty seats. They should have sold beer, then nobody would have cared what she said anyway.
4. BarbadoSlim - May 22, 2006 8:54 AM
I have it on good authority (vile rumors), that she hates the cock with a passion. She loves pink tacos though.
5. Gerald Tarrant - May 22, 2006 8:56 AM
1) This story is old as hell.
2) Ted: "Use some song lyrics dude." Bill: "Oh yeah."
3) I think this was a scene for Nell 2.
6. Gerald Tarrant - May 22, 2006 9:00 AM
4) I think a better title for this article should have been "Jodie Foster Embarrasses Humanity."
7. BarbadoSlim - May 22, 2006 9:03 AM
I thought this rabid bull-dyke was a graduate of some "Ivy League" school or somethin'. If that's the best that elite universities can produce boy and girls, don't waste your money.
8. leahdeadly - May 22, 2006 9:06 AM
it could have been worse...she could have quoted from "private dancer"....
Natalie Portman is the next Jodi Foster.
9. leahdeadly - May 22, 2006 9:09 AM
it could have been worse...she could have quoted from "private dancer"....

10. DinerGirl - May 22, 2006 9:18 AM
I would have preferred that she quoted a Billy Ocean song. Or Dokken. Much more meaningful for those about to enter the real world. Having Jodie Foster quote Eminem is like.... um.... I dunno, something related to Kathie Lee Gifford, but it's too early in the morning to figure out what, exactly. Just stupid.
11. DinerGirl - May 22, 2006 9:20 AM
Oh, and let me add -- why the hell were there 2,000 empty seats in the stadium on the floor where the graduates were seated? Did people boycott the ceremony because they didn't want to hear a wealthy white lesbian rap?
12. Jacq - May 22, 2006 10:07 AM
Is she a lipstick lesbian?
#3 - Ahhh, Nell 2. Gone but not forgotten, that's why I like you.
13. gas_up_the_hrududu - May 22, 2006 10:11 AM
Jodi Foster is so hip, yo. F'shizzle.
14. BarbadoSlim - May 22, 2006 10:14 AM
There's nothing "lipstick" about Mr. Foster, 'less you're talking about his penis.

16. PocketRocket - May 22, 2006 10:18 AM
WTF, Mr. Superficial? This story is over a week old.
Unlike Tom Cruise, Jodi does NOT love the cock!
17. Italian Stallion - May 22, 2006 10:34 AM
Tom Cruise was singing Eminem just the other day.....
"I'm sorry Katie, I never meant to hurt you, I never meant to make you cry but tonight, I'm coming out the closet"........
18. PapaHotNuts - May 22, 2006 10:46 AM
Meryl Streep was recently quoted during a speech at Harvard
"Here's a little somethin' bout a nigga like me,
never shoulda been let out the penititary
Ice Cube would like ta say
That I'm a crazy mutha fucka from around the way
Since I was a youth, I smoked weed out
Now I'm the mutha fucka that ya read about
Takin' a life or two
that's what the hell I do, you don't like how I'm livin
well fuck you!
This is a gang, and I'm in it
My man Dre'll fuck you up in a minute
With a right left, right left you're toothless
And then you say goddamn they ruthless!
Everwhere we go they say [damn!]
N W A's fuckin' up tha program
And then you realize we don't care
We don't just say no, we to busy sayin' yeah!
to drinkin' straight out the eight bottle
Do I look like a mutha fuckin role model?
To a kid lookin' up ta me
Life ain't nothin but bitches and money.
Cause I'm tha type o' nigga that's built ta last
If ya fuck wit me I'll put a foot in ya ass
See I don't give a fuck 'cause I keep bailin
Yo, what the fuck are they yellin
Chorus:
Gangsta, Gangsta! That's what they're yellin
"It's not about a salary, it's all about reality" - KRS One
Gangsta, Gangsta! That's what they're yellin
"Hopin you sophisticated motherfuckers hear what I have to say"
That Meryl Streep is one bad-ass bitch.

SHE'S AN IDIOT. I heard the whole stupid speech the other day. She talks about how the public was glued to the burning buildings on 9/11. WHAT THE HELL? Oh yeah and the part about how the public was feeling exquisite pain and how beautiful it was! SHUT THIS BITCH UP! YOU FREAK!
27. BarbadoSlim - May 22, 2006 11:17 AM
She should've ended by quoting the WU Tang Financial's credo: "don't forget to always diversify ya' assets nigggas"
28. blueballs - May 22, 2006 11:55 AM
typical liberal hollywood celebs far removed from reality. Clairse should go back to the underground prison cell to be the center of a prison circle jerk cuz that's all she's good for.
29. DinerGirl - May 22, 2006 12:07 PM
Ohmygod, PapaHotNuts, that was fantastic.
30. Grphdesi23 - May 22, 2006 12:12 PM
I always love it when white Hollywood liberals try their best to act "black".
It shows they've come a long way in terms of race relations.
31. koh - May 22, 2006 12:15 PM
Hey blueballs, maybe you should pay more attention to this speech. Had your moronic ass actually attended a college graduation of your own you may have been able to spell CLARICE correctly. You sound like a real winner. Bet your parents are proud.
32. Pearly - May 22, 2006 12:18 PM
I love it that she picked these lyrics "do not miss your chance to blow" bahahahahha!
She is definetely gay, a Yalie and a complete idiot!
33. henrysgirl - May 22, 2006 12:24 PM
I mean if Jodie's really gonna embarass herself, she really missed her chance. She should have gone for Vanilla Ice's magical words instead of Eminem. Now that's what I call a real whitey rapper. Go Ice Ice Baby.
34. Michael1 - May 22, 2006 12:24 PM
#21 and #23 This site is refreshingly free of the typical whine about "liberals".
Yahoo must have axed the 258th account you created to spew twaddle about libtards on their message boards. You know, politicizing everything is an illness, and the only cure is a big dose of Tom Cruise's baby batter.
35. prettierthanmeganharris - May 22, 2006 12:27 PM

39. BarbadoSlim - May 22, 2006 12:50 PM

@17 Tranny- that was uncalled for. I'm sorry I'm not as creative as you. You are the best and brightest. I'm confused why there aren't awards for humor named after you. I only hope that with years of practice, I can be as witty as you. Unfortunately, I don't have the energy to even begin to give a shit about what you think, so get fucked.

Apology accepted.
47. TrannyGranny - May 22, 2006 3:18 PM
Oh wait, that was supposed to be a comeback...damn. Do I have anything to say? Nope, my first comment stands alone.
48. LittleWatson - May 22, 2006 3:19 PM
I guess she figured that since she's an Oscar winner, she'd better quote an Oscar winner. That was a really obvious attempt to gain street cred and she just failed miserably.
49. oshkoshb-goshdammgosh - May 22, 2006 3:32 PM
How is she acting black if Eminem is white?
And why didn't she use a quote from "Flight Plan"? Like, "My daughter! Where is my daughter? I can't find my daughter!"
That would be much more relevant.
50. Pearly - May 22, 2006 3:55 PM
Nope as far as I know she is closeted and adopting babies like every Hollywood robot. I think maybe she ought to have used some of Ems other lyrics like " My words are like a dagger with a jagged edge that'll stab you in the head whether you're a fag or lez"
THAT would have been really appropriate.
AND if you ever lived around Yalies you would know most of them are rich, connected brats who make everyone in New Havens lives miserable and among them you may count..
Jennifer "is this fresh?" Beals, who came to the bakery I worked at when I was 16 every day and asked the same dumbass question every day..is it freeeeesh? It's a bakery bitch!!!!
Tom Hanks
Clare (who cares) Danes
The chick who played Darlene on Roseanne who tuned out to be a sorority drunk
Just a few of the celebs CT was lucky enough to host for 4 years....

Why won't anyone post my comments?
I told the superficial about this story a LONG time ago!!
53. endometriorama - May 22, 2006 4:55 PM
oh no! i thought she was intelligent.
54. assholic - May 22, 2006 4:55 PM
She missed about a thousand 'yo's' though, which turned her to ultimately uncool. Coz if she didn't, she'd be like the epitome of kids these days.
55. BarbadoSlim - May 22, 2006 5:54 PM
She's closeted, but her general demeanor reveals that she's a raging, rabid and angry bulldyke lesbian.
56. lesleyannf - May 22, 2006 5:54 PM
Watching Jodie Foster TRY to rap is almost as disconserting and uncomfortable as watching Tom Cruise TRY to dance. Both fail miserably, and now I'm scarred for life.
57. SFButch - May 22, 2006 6:24 PM
Wow -- BarbadoSlim -- you are one raging, rabid and angry misogynist homophobe. What's up with that?!
58. honeybises - May 22, 2006 8:54 PM
That was horrifying.
59. OMG! - May 22, 2006 9:01 PM

61. FH - May 23, 2006 2:54 AM
Gotta admit, that's pretty effin' awesome. Hearing Jodie Foster spew Eminem lyrics... Almost as funny as Natalie Portman rapping and screaming, "I wanna f*ck you, too!"
62. Destro - May 23, 2006 3:08 AM
For fuck sake, I stopped it 18 seconds in, it was so stomach turning. If I was a parent and I just dropped over 120k on my kid's Ivy League education and the commencement speech for my kid's most triumphant moment was capped off with this skeezer quoting an Eminem track, I'd fucking riot after washing all the vomit off the parent in front of me.
Inspire grads by quoting a world class fuck-up like Eminem?
What the fuck were you thinking Jodie?
63. ebayfan414 - May 23, 2006 3:32 AM
#49 lmao
And that was actually embarrassing for me to watch..I had to stop it in middle.
64. sid - May 23, 2006 5:08 AM
"John Hinckley Jr. is wondering what the fuck he was thinking"
Ha ha! Good one =)
What an idiot she is. I'll never forget what she did. I may not have her money, or was pushed into the biz when I was a kid, but I'll not feel intimidated by her again. What an idiot. Man!
I'm speechless....
65. large_sized_teen - May 23, 2006 8:04 AM
Yeah, BarbadoSlim, I too think you are the one who is raging and angry. Damn. What did a lesbian ever do to you?
Please don't hit me for saying that.
66. mfdd - May 23, 2006 12:30 PM
what are you talkin about...shes awesome, and trust me, she doesnt care if u feel intimidated by her, or what any of you think about her....she did what she wanted to do, and that shows shes a free=happy person, call her crazy, stupid whatever, she did it, and i bet she had a lot of fun (just like i did when i saw the video),if you feel embarrased just about watching somebody elses video..well, u r screwed try to enjoy life its not as long as u think it is.... shes an amazing actress, if she was pushed into the biz when she was a kid, or if shes lesbian or not... shes still the best....jodie rocks (now raps...)
67. SparklingStarlet - May 23, 2006 3:03 PM
MOTHER. FUCKER.
My brain might explode. I can't decide whether to laugh until I drown in tears, or run away screaming into the night.
*goes to buy new shoes instead*
68. Spindoc - May 23, 2006 5:26 PM
Jody Foster hasn't announced she was gay on TV but from what I know she did talk very low key about it in some small magazine a few years ago. Unlike Rosie O'Donnell who just pretended to be in love with Tom cruise and hid her girlfriend for the years she was on TV, THEN claims that she never was in the closet.
I'll give it to Foster, she sounded like a fucking idiot up there but at least she handles her personal life with some class.
69. mfdd - May 23, 2006 9:47 PM
well.....in my opinion...jodie is one of the most incredible actresses, and singing up there was one of the best things she could ever do...i bet she had a lot of fun (just as i did when i watched the video), come on people...if u are embarrased just because of watching this....u r really screwed enjoy life!!, its not as long as u think it is ; she did what she wanted to do and that shows shes a free=happy person, good for her.....jodie rocks/raps.
and whether shes lesbian or not, who cares...shes a strong, intelligent woman, those things are the ones u should care about.
70. A Nobody - May 24, 2006 12:37 AM
Ugh... Dude, that's nasty.
71. Bo_Smith - May 24, 2006 12:57 AM
She's allowed to be a lesbian. It's legal I don't hear racist comments on this site ever so why is homophobia acceptable? We don't hear about how Seal is a nigger ever time we have articles on him.
50 Cent - "Oh what a fucking nigga" - ever hear that on this site? But Jodie Foster can't secretly rug munch? That is not fair at all and dickheads like you - let me see who was it - BarbadoSlim need to get a life!
72. bink_bink - May 24, 2006 11:56 AM
#71 Bo Smith
I am disappointed that you resulted to racial comments to get your point about your sexual preference across. I've seen the 'N' word used throughout this comment board and it is a word that has evolved within the hip hop culture (which you know nothing about)as a form of embracement of identity. If you are going to be the spokesperson for lesbianism, do so in a more positive light and not this tasteless reference to racism.
73. bink_bink - May 24, 2006 12:05 PM
Regarding Foster
I think she tried to bring a little flavor and not the usual boring speeches that people tune out. It got the crowd's (and country) attention and I don't think any less of her. My hats go out to her in trying to show the country a different side of her and not the usual ivy league, snobbish attitude. Basically - you got one chance to get it right - do so. It doesn't take words from a genuis to understand that.
74. R_James_Pop - May 27, 2006 2:15 PM
Well, I agree with bink_bink and Bo_Smith!!! I could do without some of ridiculous, slanderous and ignorant comments. Calling her the names and so forth is really uncalled for. Jodie Foster is a brilliant actress and a strong woman. She is beauty!
75. R_James_Pop - May 28, 2006 8:36 AM
I just read: "(she) obviously impressed the crowd, as they treated her to a standing ovation." Funny, it's not the typical reaction to someone "embarrassing" themselves.
http://hellomagazine.com/film/2006/05/16/jodiefoster/
76. ZOE - May 29, 2006 3:18 PM
What does her sexuality, race, politics and social status have to do with all these brouhaha? What's the big deal? She didn't glorify Eminem, she just quoted his Oscar-winning song to get her message across to the graduates. She's an excellent actress and it's her technique of connecting with her audience. She was just trying to move the graduates in her own creative way to never waste any precious time, take some risks, choose what you love to do and be good at it. It's as simple as that. No need to bash her and other people just because her rapping or the song didn't suit your taste. Geez.
77. misha - June 17, 2006 2:51 AM
Before being so critical of Jodie Foster based on 30 seconds of a commencement speech, you might consider listening to the full speech:
http://www.upenn.edu/video/podcast/pvn/foster.mp3
She did not embarrass herself. Rather she shared her thoughts/perspective (which she was asked to do by virtue of being invited to be the speaker). She was sincere. And it appears she just tried to mix it up a little, instead being so damn traditional.
Cut her a break... We should be more kind with each other.
78. NewNewYork - July 22, 2006 8:37 PM
Honestly, I couldn't help myself from laughing at your guys' comments. Not because they were funny, but because of how idiotic they are. You all sound so fucking stupid. I think someone actually used the abbreviation "'less" for the word unless. You're the people who use "LoLz!!!!!!!!" and "LMAO" and smiley faces on the internet, aren't you? I could honestly go through almost every post and find something in each one that reveals the author's total ignorance and apparent lack of sense. Go back through and read some of the stupid shit that some people wrote. Really, it makes for a good laugh.
I was AT the graduation -- in fact I was graduating from Penn that day. If any of you HAD any sense whatsoever, you would realize that you can't judge a 20-minute speech from a 30-second clip. But hey, you guys are critical thinkers, so you already knew that, right? When Ali G spoke at Harvard's graduation, man that must have sucked. He should be sooooooo embarrassed for himself. LOLZ!!!! And, hey, you guys are right, the way that I decide whether or not the $160,000 I just spent on my education was worth it is whether or notmy graduation speaker uses rap, not the job that that education got me. Seriously, guys, just think about this stuff before you put it on a public website and embarrass yourself.
Her speech was great, and YES, she did, in fact, connect with the audience. She is an actress. She speaks for a living. Shocking that she would give a good speech, right? I recommend that you follow #77's suggestion and actually listen to the whole speech before you judge any further. I'm not singling out the Ivy League and saying we're smarter than everyone else (believe me, there are a lot of dumb people at Penn), I'm just saying that you need to fucking think before you say shit that embarrasses you. Good thing for you guys, this website is anonymous.
Thank you to the few of you on this site who have any sense for realizing that you can't generalize about the whole speech just because some dumbass decided to post a 30-second clip on his shitty website. #77, I agree with most of your points, but I disagree with you on one point: that "We should be more kind to each other." I like calling you guys out, it feels great. I hate you all.
79. Maria_THERE _ARE_NO_EXCUSES - April 13, 2008 12:55 PM
Jodie Foster is kind of a nasty bitch! There are no excuses for her fucked up speech or her fucked up life! She surely overdoooooone it , u guys! She overdo it so much that I'm not sure I can come up again with a good excuse for her ,and think '''hey ,she's ok, she is a nice person, nice to everyone, really gifted''Is she?The only gift she has is that is an arrogant actress, yes, yes,I know she has this INCRIDIBLE TALENT, but I'm sorry she is not really gifted though! She dissapointed me as many others ex- fans of her , but you think she cares about you just a slightly bit?No, perhaps she's too old (!)to care for other people! She also give us the impression she is not sympathize, she is too cruel ,u know what I mean? She seems to be so ironical.Must be this British humour,ha?ha,ha,ha!Well I wouldn't know something about that ,'cause I'm from Greece!I totaly agree with Destro on this one.And as for you "NewYorkNewYork''' I bet you're trying to be as pathetic loser as Jodie is!
80. crazy M. - April 15, 2008 2:29 AM
Well done Jodie!I suspect these rich spoilt guys would probably quit from their right to their parents money after that!!!Her speech was umbearable to eveyone !Yo, way to go, Jodie! She is too much! Now, applause, please:Clap, clap, clap!!!Why wouldn't she sing the song that goes ''gonna get myshelf ,gonna get myshelf , gonna get myshelf connected, YEAHHHH!'' and start dancing it as well?Perhaps she would find a correspondence there!
81. That'a great! - August 1, 2008 1:47 AM
NewNewYork So Do you think that's normal when she is harrassing people with her behaviour?Jodie is just acting like a diva to everyone, but who should be afraid of her and why?She is just one human being just like the rest of us , but the only difference is that she wants to show off a lot !!!!!!
