Feb 9 2006Britney Spears sort of owns up

Britney Spears has finally taken a little bit of responsibility for driving with her infant baby on her lap, although she's still putting the majority of the blame on the paparazzi. She tells Access Hollywood:

"I made a mistake and so it is what it is, I guess. Being put in the situation that I was in, it was kind of bad with the paparazzi. Last week, my mom and I went out and they were on us really bad, so you instinctively do what you need to do."

Usually when the paparazzi come after me I instinctively do what has to be done too. Although it's more along the lines of climbing on top of a car with my hands on my waist yelling, "Bow down to your king!" But sometimes I grab babies and put them on my lap as I drive. That's totally up there on my list of things to instincitvely do.

What I want to know is why were they just spotted buying a baby carseat a few days ago? Wouldn't she have needed to use one since he was BORN??? This just shows she did this on a regular basis. Dumb ass.

"Last week, my mom and I went out and they were on us really bad, so you instinctively do what you need to do." Wow. I liked "took measures" better.

"And when K-Fed tries to go down on me, I automatically push my baby's head between his gaping maw and my...well...gaping maw. I do what I have to do. But it's the paparazzi's fault, ya know?"

I think that was the same excuse Micheal Jackson used when he hung his baby of his balcony. And I don't think that when the paparazzi followed Britney and her Mother that she "insticvely" put her Mother in her lap and drove away. Aren't there laws against this kind of thing?

1: I heard somewhere she might be pregnant again. Might be why she was buying a second car seat.

Hmm, that could of been a lot funnier Superficial guy, you were going in the right direction then crashed...no pun intended. But yeah, she made a mistake, we all make mistakes. I vent poisonous gases in buildings to watch people run out of them by accident, see? Of course, some of our accidents don't involved potentially harming a baby, but leaving the toast in the toaster too long and letting it burn is sort of around those lines...

Effective January 1, 2005, changes to the California CPS Law (VC 27360 and 27360.5) will cite the parent/guardian for each child who is not properly restrained in the rear seat unless the child is 6 years old or older, or weighs 60 pounds or more.

1st Offense: $100 fine. Court may waive or reduce fine, but must refer you to a violator program if fine is reduced...

See, I knew there were laws against this

GEEZ people leave her alone..the paparazzi are ruthless..they could have hurt her people when he was in his car seat..maybe she felt it was safer with him in her lap..not the smartest idea in the world, sure, but atleast she's taking care of the kid..i thought he would have been deep-fried by now..go britney! lol

*hurt her son

sorry

Locking my keys in the car is a mistake. Forgetting to set my alarm clock is a mistake. Having sex with my ex-boyfriend cuz I got too drunk is a mistake. Putting your baby in your lap while you drive down an LA highway is NOT a mistake. It's called child endangerment and it's illegal. What makes her story such a blatant lie is that there was someone else in the car who could have put the baby in the car seat while she drove away. Britney, you're a retard so please do us all a favor and go away.

8- What were the paparazzi going to do? Grab her kid by the ankles and beat her over the head with him?
She was just trying to get out of there before someone took another pic of her looking like a slob.

now i just feel genuinely sorry for her... it's not that she's "stupid" as most people and i myself have implied... it's just that she clearly wasn't ready to be a parent. and it's just sad that she has yet to face that realization.

I totally understand what she's going through, as I am also the father of a new born. Just the other day my family and friends were all visiting and they were just... well they were "on us really bad". So, I did what any caring parent would do and I got my son out of that situation ASAP and I threw him over the balcony of my 9th floor apartment, just instincts I guess. I too made a mistake there, but it is what it is. Brittany, you go girl! Way to protect your family!

What is more mind boggling? The fact that Britney Spears got behind the wheel of a car with her child on her lap? OR... the few people who actually defend her blatant act of sheer stupidity? There is no reason to "feel sorry" for Britney. In her most recent 1/2 assed statement, she STILL fails to take responsibility for her actions... blaming it on the paparazzi and chalking it up to a "mistake". She's such an arrogant little twit... "so it is what it is, I guess." Yeah Britney, it's called poor decision making and it's nobody's fault but your own.

But then again... maybe the shocked public is expecting too much from her. If she hadn't become a mousketeer & actually stayed in school, she *probably* would have been riding the short bus. So it is what it is, I guess.

don't get me wrong, guys, it's not so much as a defense - there's absolutely no excuse for what she's done/has been doing. i'm just saying it just goes to prove that she wasn't at all ready to be a parent. i just feel sorry for her (more so for her baby) that she still hasn't realized it yet.

come to think of it, i'm just genuinely concerned about the kid. i wouldn't be surprised if she'd dropped him once or twice, or accidentally rolled over him in bed.

Poster # 10 Rachel - I completely agree. As I stated in my first post on this matter it was total child endangerment.

But you have to remember, Fed-Ex was busy talking on the phone, to even care about his child's safety.

She's a tard.

If that airbag had gone off, little Cooter would have broken every bone in his face and would surely have died instantly. She put her own need to 'get away from the paparazzi' ahead of her son's safety. That's bad parenting, plain and simple.

Instincts? What a stupid twat! If she had legitimate instincts about being a parent instead of being a selfish piece of trash, she would have protected her baby regardless of how "really bad" they were "on her" (pretty eloquent, you fucking tard!).

How anyone can feel even the most infinitely minimal ammount of pity for her confounds me.

child endangerment was initiated when he was born to these crackheads. what would be more painful- baby slamming into the airbag or listening to his daddy's rap.

Yeah well, I seem to recall someone else "doing what they needed to" when the papazzai were bad and that ended in a car crash....

She's an idiot in this regard....

Ah what beats the vanity of Hollyweird more than the defenders of the vanity of Hollyweird.

The only thing more stupid than Britney's "truth" is the fools that think she's worth defending on this website.

A pox on them all.

So we've seen the "feed Lindsay" and Divorce Kevin" petitions... Where's the "donate to have Britney's tubes tied" site?? like FIXBRIT.COM or something...I'd donate to that, if I knew it would happen...

The paparazzi are shooting her with CAMERAS...not guns! Why do her instincts need to kick in and motivate her to endanger her baby? As though she has instincts...pshaw. And she's the same dirty asshole who just accepted help from the paparazzi when the Ferrari stalled? Yes, they are MENACING!

What's she going to do when she has offspring #2? Will she leave Sean behind to distract the paparazzi while she makes her getaway with the other one strapped to the ski rack?

Seriously, if you KNOW that there are photographers following your every move who might put you in danger either a) send someone out to get your coffee or b) leave your child with his nanny. or the best option c) let Angelina Jolie adopt the child and let him live out his days in the Jolie-Pitt petting zoo.

#24 is on the right track here. We need to head off stupidy genes and now! Britney's a good start. Lohan should be next on the list, then probably Simpson!

I think what some of the people who are defending her don't realize is that the baby was in danger not only from a car accident....but if Britiney had just tapped a bumper of a car in front of her at about 6 miles an hour the airbag would have deployed and could have at a minimum given the baby a severe concusion.

obviously nobody bothered to digest what i was trying to say and simply let their defenses run amok.

her so-called "instincts" apparently aren't that of the maternal type, so maybe the child needs a better mother who won't use him as an airbag when she's feeling instinctive...

obviously nobody bothered to digest what i was trying to say and simply let their egocentric defenses run amok. but who am i expect any better? this IS "the superficial," so to speak.

i was not, in any way, defending what she'd done and has been doing. i was simply taking into account all that she's done and making the obvious conclusion that she really wasn't fit to be a parent (at this point in her life , at least) and, as much as i wouldn't wish this on any child, wish that he'd been born at a later time or to a different "britney," however possible that may be. but who am i to tell another person what she should do/should have done, right?

and please, nobody should go as far as calling their fellow commenters "stupid" or start becoming extremely hostile to those that don't readily and completely share in their opinions. we're here to share opinions, and as much as i like siding with the majority, i also like to read comments from those who have other opinions. gawd, this isn't becoming Bush country, is it? one could very well retort, "well then don't come here with that openmindedness of yours - f*ck off and die," but i trust no one would, because we're not children here, right?

The other day the bagboy at Price Cutters was getting entirely too close while allegedly helping me with our groceries, so logic dictated that I snatch my son out of the back seat and set him on fire.

Whew. Crisis averted.

Big fucking deal. $100 for the offenses. She probably paid $50,000 and asked if she was allowed to break the law 500 times. Really, I wouldn't put it past her...After all, it would just be pocket change to her.

I really hope she's not pregnant again, she obviously can't handle the one she has now. No offense to any others, but she is definately the poster child for dumb blondes.

Hang on to that story Brit. Santa believes you.

When I see the paparazzi in front of my building, I wave, flash my tits and give them the peace sign. Then I tell them to come in and we watch Ren & Stimpy while I make empanadas.

She sounds like my pill-popping cousin who still claims she's on Oxy's/Perks/Meth pills-patches-suppositories for back pain. Oh, my baaaaaack!

The stupid ass is still making up excuses for herself.

First off, the quote is not complete. She actually said, "It's KIND OF LIKE I made a mistake..." She is not sorry for what she did - only that she got caught. Really, she put her kid in some real danger and all she can say is that she sort of made a mistake and that it just "is what it is." That just shows that she completely uncaring about all of this. It wasn't a mistake - just kind of.

What is more sad is that some people actually feel more sorry for her than Sean. But like Britney, her fans like to think of her first.

yeah those douchebag paparazzi, following you around, taking your picture... pushing your porche when it breaks down - life's rough.

To all of the idiot's defending this huge blob of stupid, read this article. It's about a child decapitated by an airbag.

http://www.cnn.com/US/9611/27/briefs/airbag.html

I got this off of Air Bag Safety, http://www.ou.edu/oupd/kidseat.htm

Pre-crash braking and steering are the usual reasons they move too close to the dashboard. This turns a minor 10 mph crash into a 140 mph head impact with the air bag.

Saaaay, I just had a flash back. I remember being about 8 or 9, riding in the back seat of the car in the middle of the big bucket seats. I was leaning forward and my mom had to stop short. I flew to the front and banged my forehead on the dash.

Damn Britney, for bringing back a bad memorie. The crack and fatties I smoked to forget those memories was all for naught. (Sucks teeth in disgust)

Lol #26.."Jolie-Pitt petting zoo". That was hilarious!
But seriously...it's not like Angelina's kids will grow up to be any more fucked up than Britney's. Right?

Instinct tells you to put your baby on your lap and drive away? From what? The big scary people with the lethal cameras? And what exactly is the big bad bodyguard paid to do? Be chauffered around by Brittney while she takes care of the "situation" herself? I know I've used alot of question marks here but this womans dumbass response leaves me confused.

This morning on the radio they devoted the whole time to Britney. They made up songs and had people calling in with their "White Trash" stories. Yeah, I'd say her career is on the downward slope. YIPPEE!!!!!!!!

First I am confused by an article that I read that said that they could not charge Spears because a deputy needs to see the offense for it to be prosecuted but the UK wants to question Kate Moss and possibly charge her based on pictures.

Secondly on the story of Spears buying a car seat, unless she was really planning ahead it would not have been for a new baby because the manager of the Toys-R-Us installed it for her.

Third and finally what makes the carseat purchasing story so shocking is the video of her again getting into the driver's seat of her SuV with the baby in her lap. That seems like an odd way to secure a baby in a carseat in my opinion, in fact it seems that it would be hard to properly secure him from that angle, I don't care how roomy her fuel wasting vehicle is.

Bottom line--there is no way that this was a one time occurance, there it no way that she did this because she feared the photographers, in fact if she feared them so much it would make more sense that she would secure her baby before driving off to possibly get in an accident.

#13 - LMAO that was hilarious! Thank you!!

"...it is what it is...do what you need to do"
You have to give Britney some credit for spreading the retard-language.

Seriously, if she is continuing to get in the car with the kid in her lap, she doesn't give a flying rats ass about him or his safety. It's like she's doing what SHE wants and not what is smartest or best.

She represents the people who get into accidents, have their kids get killed becasue of some fault of the parent and then sue the car company for airbag death, or any other thing they can sue for.

As I sit here thinking of what I would do if something happened to my little nephew, I am also beginning to loathe Britney Spears.

You know, Brit, it's not funny anymore.

SHe is such a retard. I feared for our safety so I drove off with my kid on may lap. What BS. She should hve said, I was too lazy to properly care for the baby. plus I thought it was cute. What a dumb ass. What will this idiot do next.

She didn't take any responsibility. Calling what she did a mistake is an understatement. She still blames the paparrazzi and has a 'whatever' attittude toward what she did.

What I want to know is how come not one friggin celebrity has come forth to say what a disgrace it is to put a baby on your lap while your driving and that Britney Spears is a totally unfit mother? I admired Cher years ago when she came out against Michael Jackson doing the baby-dangle, well, where the hell is she now? This is the very reason I never watch award shows - all they ever do is pat themselves on the back and ignore this kind of behavior, then blame it all on the paparrazzi. They all f'n suck!!!

When I told my teenage daughter about Brit-tit's negligent attitude towards her son, she asked me if she could stab her! Heh heh...I have a sharpened Henckel in the kitchen, m'dear!

I guess I should add this for the benefit of all the Brit-lovers out there (although I can't comprehend why they would hang out here in the first place)--of course I am *JUST KIDDING* and I reprimanded her for even suggesting such a thing. But it also shows that not every teenage girl dreams of becoming a brain-dead media whore.

Wild Rose I've never met your daughter but I've always believed parents should encourage thier children's interests.I'm sure lots of young women have had dreams of stabbing Britney but thier up-tight folks probably disaproved so they moved on to ohter things, like pottery and shit.

I don't want to tell you how to raise your kid but I think it's time to give her space, a knife and Britneys address and just let her figure things out on her own. It's how kids grow.

# 48 - actually the morning the pictures came out in the NY Post Kelly Ripa and the women on the View (except Star Jones who said she'd believe Brit over the paps anyday) chastised her for what she did on their shows.

What the hell does "it is what it is" even mean? Maybe it means "We have the intellect of an 8 year old. Combined. We don't know how to express complex thoughts. What are complex thoughts?"

SO apparantly she thought it was more not to have her picture taken or the babies than the air bag going off on her baby's face.

*rolls eyes*

Everyday I think that Brit is as white trash as it gets and then she does something miraculously EVEN more white trashy! I think she should be forced to travel everywhere she goes in a rusty old duct taped up mobile home sans hubcaps so people can know when white trash is coming.

What an idiot. Even though she's probably lost a ton of weight, she still looks...crappy. Makes me wonder if all the the pictures we saw prior to the pregnancy were airbrushed. No!! Could she possibly really be an average looking, stupid hick?

It's simply beyond crazy to not understand the danger of putting a child in your lap. Hell, I still don't let my 10-yr old ride in the front seat.

#14 aura lol picturing Britney on the short bus. But we all know if you're pretty enough, teachers won't identify you as "special". K-Fed, though...

WOW, great excuse...ANYONE could have come up with a better one. Or just ignore stupid behavior like Pee-Wee Herman and Hugh Grant did. Why the fuck should anyone explain themselves for being stupid or not?

do any of you actually have kids? FYI babies grow out of their "infant" car seat when they are about 6 months old. You then have to buy them a regular "baby" car seat. And while I believe that parents should always have their babies in car seats I don't actually think they will explode if they go for one ride without being in one.

poor britney, i guess baby car seats are just too expensive after your husband spent all your money on drugs and strippers
